Loved this podcast and Sarah was such an intelligent interviewee. I ordered her book and can't wait to read it. So glad her life has improved since leaving the cult. Wonderful video. Thanks.

It is endlessly entertaining that Keith recruited good, selfless, talented people, thought he was above them and above justice with such delusion, and then those cool ass people took him down with that talent and relentless vigor 😂 incredible

The "how did you choose it" thing is very common among counsellors here in Ireland, extreme ignorance. They call it choice theory but I read that book and there is nothing about "choosing to be a victim" in it

Listened to her book on audible ~ so glad they got him behind bars. The fact is these are people who Want to help and make a difference in the world. She is now making a big difference in a way she never imagined. Hate that she had to go thru it but glad she is still strong and still standing up for the right thing.

I find it shocking that NXIVM only had about 17,000 people take it's course total, and that Scientology only has that many active members now. I tend to think of Nithyananda cult as "smaller" than NXIVM and Scientology, but the call lists of people who attended programs at the US temples alone was greater than 17,000 during my time there. (Sadly, many of them are still "devotees but not disciples," meaning, they see the organization as bad but still believe the fraud himself is good; they don't realize all the things they hate in the organization exist because of his malignant narcissism and direct instructions.)

The Vow series was fascinating because it showed how Keith Ramiere built a cult for rich entitled people-- Humble Leader, Super Genius + Super Ethical (ignore his prior fraud) shows you how you can become Super Special & Super Ethical too, step by expensive, complex step ("it's science"). Publicly sweet Keith (psychopath) usurped Nancy's NLP work & got her to mix it in w/ his MLM skills & do most of the work (as Prefect but Never above Him). They invited the Entitled (& a bit ashamed) to free themselves of their fears & shame to become Super Duper Special & Super Ethical: Super Human like Ayn Rand promised. And Forever-Imperfect Prefect Nancy dutifully taught Keith's future victims to reject victimhood and claim their agency-- a.k.a. Abuse is Your Fault. Other cults do that too-- you brought those wounds upon yourself... And entrapped a sado-masochistic harem into serving his needs. (Such a pity that Nancy didn't ditch him & continue the Tourette's NLP work on her own.)

Been fascinated with this cult and the aftermath for a few years. Sarah Edmonson is very brave and I feel for her having had to defrag her brain. Gaslighting is something I have experienced in various relationships and I can relate to some degree as individuals can be almost like a cult in themselves.

I find that very interesting when she talked about how her husband was in seminars which makes sense because of how they treated woman in that cult to exploit them physically and mentally while the men were just some wild savage beats and did whatever tf they wanted while the woman were trying so hard to achieve there goals in anyway not to say the men were not but the main point is that Kieth only really attacked and manipulated woman so awful and it shows in his teachings. Which is what Kieth was doing himself all along. Damn this shit is so crazy and I cannot get enough

It's crazy to me that there are NOT a ton of comments under videos like this. This in my opinion shows how many people are still in danger of being roped into cults, other cults. The amount of comments under videos like this shows how many people are not watching it and are not aware. But I still think these people are doing an incredibly important job, and I hope Universe grants them excess of time and strength and luck and resources to keep going.

Over 400 flat earthers at the "flatoberfest" event in Spartan Berg NC, in october this year. A simple party at a reserved venue for three days. Not a conference, yet 400 or more attended the three day party.

In one first nation teaching (can't recall which, maybe Navajo?) they say we are 80 percent able to affect reality and create our life, but 20 percent is just chaos, things happening at random. It's just an interesting idea to apply to Sarah's discussion on responsibility. Sometimes shit just happens and we didn't do anything to make that happen. It can be helpful to step back and consider how to do what we can to create the life we want but we are at the end not in total control. Sets us up for shame to think so if it isnt entirley true. And it was so easy to use that shame to say "oh you're just a victim". The truth is in between. As in most things 😅

this is so important to understand. when i was young a car drove straight thru a stop sign on a country road and collected my car. my participation in that was "i was driving a car". i couldn't avoid it. i did nothing to cause it. and it rankles me when new age people say we chose everything. ten that to an 8 year old with terminal cancer. or someone who was in s terrorist bombing. the idea that we cause EVERYTHING is crazy and damaging.

Does anyone other than me wonder whether Keith is successfully messing with the heads of his fellow prisoners? I wonder whether he finds any purchase there, or whether as Nippy said once, he's just in there biting pillows.
@horseheadkid

yes i've wondered about that. it's an interesting question. he was such a pampered dough boy, surrounded and bankrolled and taken care of by women for decades. he was such a soft lazy bastard. how is he gonna cope in a 100% male environment, and a tough male one at that. is he trying to manipulate people in there? how do hardened criminals deal with posers who speak word salad? yes, i wonder about that too.

Cults, sadly, are self-destroyers. Add to that the now the political party of Trump, who uses the same techniques, and it is really all about serving him. What amazes me is the fear of the leader, and it drives those who question their sanity and makes this unable to speak out against the bizarre and crazy.

I'm going to listen because I love your show, but if Sarah mentions Evan Rachel Wood, I am out. Her support for this abusive, predatory scam artist feels very unsafe to me, as a survivor of Narcissistic Abuse. It's disheartening when people with platforms, and even real experts, are being tricked by mega liars just because they say the right buzzwords.

Sorry but many people who are victimized have absolutely no responsability in their abuse. Children have no responsability. A person walking on the street and thrown into a car has no responsability.... Cami had ZERO responsability in what happened to her from the age of 15 onwards!!!

I don’t actually think she calls herself this. The whole branding thing was part of coercive control: as was calling people Master or being fed only 500 Cals a day or having to HAND OVER collateral. At least _you_ could see, legally, that this is blackmail ? In fact there were 200+ charges. Charges equal illegal acts. Do you understand now?
