Just found your podcast, great work. I'm 62 and my uncle worked at sears so my dad took me and we got a 22 lr and a 20 gauge shotgun and back the the choke system just came out to change your pattern. That lasted even after I started using slugs in deer season. But 11 years old and no supervision in the northern Indiana woods on friends family farms. Learned how to use a shotgun this way. Here Tom take this double barrel 12 gauge slug gun and put your left shoulder against the tree for support when you use both barrels. Yes I am left handed. Figure it out, instant shoulder pain after firing both barrels! That was the joke on me that Day! Times sure did change!

I lost my dad when I was 25 and he was 57. The toughest experience in my life. Thankfully he left me countless great memories!

I have two boys my oldest paid half for his first dirtbike pw80!! And now my youngest is riding it!! I have also found myself saying how reliable that lil bike has been!! We have had it for like 6 yrs and we freshened up the top end last summer!! For strong reliable bike!!

here’s the thing: Edwin has a Dad (Down Ass Dude) & not a Father. my Dad has three 4-Speed ‘64 GTOs & gave me a 2-stroke bike before I was 5 (early ‘80s), much like Carl did with Ed. I’m a father of 3 & Carl’s, “don’t tell Mom,” stories resonate too well with me. the issue/problem may be: being a friend to your boy(offspring), like Carl is to Ed, may make us Dads less of an authority figure. I struggle with this duality but, I’d rather be an “older brother type” with a career, than some hard ass disconnected father. I actually know of Carl from Edwin’s channel, from when he took TF off on Ed’s e-Bike so hard around a corner that it dumped him & he immediately apologized for dropping it…that’s a Down-Ass Dude right there. he was sorry to lay that new bike down in the dirt. I see Ed’s mom as being a solid Matriarch & Carl as being her loving & doting dude. that’s the situation that I’ve created. my wife was a badass & had McGill, Hawk, & Lance Mountain Powell Peralta completes back in the day & saw The Grateful Dead and Moody Blues more than a dozen times, so she’s no [ ] by any means, but she’s the one that holds down the fort. my purpose of this comment is this: you can be whatever you want to be to your children…what they need is Your Love, Support, Guidance & more Love. keep kicking ass, Carl

Not just “over the hill Idaho” my family sent us out with 22s and 12 gauges hunting squirrels here in Alaska at the same age.. 1999-2000ish. Squirrels would get into the septic system and on occasion float into the toilets or clog the system. We were the remedy haha
