Most of the people in my school are Indian's and Sri lankan's, so I always be with them and my accent sounds like them but when I talk with that accent with my out of school friends or family, they all kind of make fun of me. This is so helpful, thank you so much. I needed this. Btw, you look like Ellie Goulding ♥ ♥

Bravo! How satisfying is it watching someone who both knows really well what she is teaching and seems so passionate about it? New subscriber here. Thanks!

Thank you so much! I really do enjoy this work and I have been doing it for quite a while (about 20 years!) but I still think speech and accents are so interesting, so it's nice that you could feel my enthusiasm in this lesson. I love being able to explain the rules of pronunciation, rather than just having people imitate random words. It is always nice to get a compliment like this. Thanks again!!

I do...but it’s pretty awful. I’m old and still getting comfortable with Instagram. Too many photos!!! But working to improve is one of my goals for this year!

Great insight madam, I have seen the video tutorial. I have a question. If we want to ask a yes/no question, we will use rising intonation at the final word of sentence, my question is, do we have to stress on 2 words in each sentence? First on word which we want to highlight and then second stress on final word? For example: ARE you going to Paris TOMMOROW? Are YOU going to Paris TOMMOROW? (Putting stress on words in capital case?) Please clearify Thank you
@Theaccentchannel4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. Both of these are actually correct but they have slightly different meanings. The first example: ARE you going to Paris TOMORROW-implies that that you aren't sure if the person is going or not...ARE you or ARE you NOT? The second example: Are YOU going to Paris TOMORROW - implies that you want to know if this specific person is going..are YOU going or is JAMES going. Hopefully my answer makes sense. Intonation is a tricky thing and very hard to explain in writing! But hope it helps a little.

WH words are generally stressed, but I sometimes hear when getting pronounced as ' wən ' . ı think there's nothing wrong with that.
