There's a reason they do that. If he somehow gets a weasel lawyer to get his sentence reduced or becomes eligible for any kind of early release, he'll still have the 7 years to deal with, because it's consecutive. If they get the first sentence reduced from 130 to 50, the remaining time is still going to keep him in for the rest of his life. Yohn "represented himself" at trial. It was disgusting. Truly disgusting. The things he did to that woman were...impossible to believe. But true. In his SA of her, he used a cans of insect spray and oven cleaner. The attorney sitting next to him, was appointed as stand by counsel. Throughout the trial he sat as far from Yohn as was possible, and then leaned away too. He was clearly utterly disgusted to have to even exchange a single word with Yohn. Yohn did a Ted Bundy, and forced the widower of the woman he kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and beat...for hours and hours...to describe all the things that his victim had done to her, and all the wounds she received. She survived 3 weeks after the attack. But never returned to her home, where it had happened. He killed her. It really should have been charged as murder. But I understand why they didn't. Even though Missouri, a deep red, extremely right wing, so-called "law and order" state, kept letting this monster out, Illinois was NOT going to do that. MIssouri doesn't give long sentences for sex crimes against women, and then usually lets the prisoner out early. Illinois wasn't going to do that. So it was not necessary to charge him with the murder, and risk having it overturned because she didn't die immediately, because she tried to struggle on and tried to tell her daughter she was going to pull through.

This was in Adam’s county Illinois, not sure what Michigan has to do with this case.? It’s too bad that this same county that gave a plea deal to a woman charged with 4 counts of first degree redrum of a grandmother and her 3 grandchildren. They gave her a deal of 6 years, with credit for time served, she has a 3 year sentence. The families should have some say in these deal makings, not just be surprised by the outcome.

@@lisala72170 exactly, but where is OP getting Michigan from? This happened in Adams county in Illinois, not Michigan. 🤷♀️ I’m just confused by OP talking about how Michigan wasn’t going to let him out early.

Asking the lawyer for anything after a decision like that is like asking your 10 year old if they had a good time playing after losing a blowout in their favorite sport
