Thank you. More content coming soon, hopefully one vid per week this year, mostly scrambling with a few great hiking routes thrown in too.

Can't say I fancy G3, solo, with loose rock - but I enjoyed it vicariously

Even more fun when holding a GoPro stick and faffing about with a drone that has kamikaze tendencies. Glad you enjoyed it though :-).

Another cracking video mate. The info about the approach is invaluable. I've looked at this particular scramble, and the VD climb to it's left (Pinnacle Ridge Variation) but I couldn't find any solid info on the parking and approach. Looks like a cracking day out though mate. And a bit of a spicy scramble with the loose rocks and climbing around and over the gendarmes. Good on you bud, love your videos!

Epic scrambling dude. That looks so much fun! Really good edit on the video too. Nice

Thanks, I'm trying to strike a balance between headcam footage showing my hands and feet, the GoPro on a ledge or stick and drone footage showing the scale of the ridge. It's quite hard to get all the shots and do the scramble solo but I think I'm getting better at it.

Thanks, it's actually a really good scramble, the loose stuff wasn't that bad - just more than on most scrambles I've previously done. I'm looking forward to seeing your footage from it in August.

I saw a guy mountain biking down the Snowdon Ranger Path the other week on a bike with no suspension (hard front fork and hard tail), and I was thinking the same thing - what people do for fun! This scramble was lovely though, right up my street.

Is there a way of conquering a fear of heights or is it just something you're born with/without?

Good question but maybe not one I can answer - I can't speak for others but I was always climbing trees as a kid, then I worked as a roofing contractor for most of my twenties. In my thirties I was skydiving (hundreds of jumps done). The last ten years I've been hiking and scrambling around mountains. I rarely feel queasy or truly uncomfortable when scrambling. On my first ever skydive I was nervous when they opened the door at 13,000feet (i.e. 8/10 on a nervousness scale) but after a couple dozen skydives my nervousness/fear was down to maybe 3/10. I guess everyone has different fears - I don't like needles and the last time I had my bloods taken I was sweating profusely, hands were shaking and 10 seconds after they put the needle in, I fainted with the nurse trying to stop me from falling flat on my face. If someone told me I just need to get used to needles and my fear would go away one day, I just know that would never happen. Maybe it's the same for those with a fear of heights? Or perhaps, if they started slowly and worked up to gradually steeper inclines, they could get used to it; I'm not sure.

Please can you supply me with the postcode for the carpark 😊
@thebaldscrambler
@thebaldscrambler Жыл бұрын
I don't normally use postcodes as they cover a huge area in remote places, sometimes many thousands of square metres, so a sat-nav could take you far away but LL54 6TH seems to be within a couple hundred metres. On Google maps, search for "Rhyd Ddu car park". What3words: what3words.com/totals.calls.proposals and the OS Grid Reference is SH 571 526.

Do you never wear approach shoes when scrambling?

I own a pair of heavy leather hiking boots for muddy days and wet grassy hills but I prefer my TX4s for scrambling, they're very sticky on rock.
