You asked if it's a direct cover, but as I understand it, BTS did a remake, not a cover. They updated the lyrics and added a verse, if I remember/understand correctly. The MV by BTS is a perfect blend of homage to Seo Taiji & the Boys and their own symbolisms, even though they aren't shown in the MV.

"Seo" is pronounced more like "Suh" and "Taiji" is "Tae-jee". When said quickly SuhTaeji sounds almost like the English word "Stage".

Seo Taiji is the first person who made the current Korean rap possible. Before that, the Korean rap was just a narration, and Seo Taiji made the rap with rhyme in Korean like the current rap

Seo Taiji and Boys had a lot to do with "new" styles in Korea like hip hop, but they were definitely not the ones who made the rhymes in korean current rap That title is definitely to Verbal Jint, he was the first rapper to actually write amazing rhymes and he became so popular because of it that rappers started doing that more and more till this day Seo Taiji had nice rhymes but they were just enough for a song to sound good, no more than that Still Seo Taiji and Boys impact in korean current music scene is huge, but rhymes are definitely not something they did the best or something they've stood out for

Seo Taiji was an idol in my high school days. Seo Taiji changed our culture. There was no idol that still shocked like him. It is amazing that Americans are listening to Seo Taiji. Thank you again. Do you know ATEEZ? I've recently released their new song Turbulence. I cried. It's a touching song. I recommend it because I want to let you know that Kpop is diverse. They are different I think. there's a lot of groups who made a cover/remake for this song over since 1995 but BTS is the only group that Seo Taiji picked to do a remake specifically for them and for their 25th anniversary concert where Seo Taiji himself performed with them too .. ironically, YG who is also a member of this group, the founder of YG Entertainment, but then his idol groups were not chosen to perform by and with Seo Taiji himself. Seo Taiji and boys was basically the model of the current K-POP idol structure. I believe that the reason why Seo Taiji himself chose BTS was because their history was pretty much the same, their visions as well as their passion for creating music is the same and they fit well with each other ♥

Seo Taiji was big in SK back then and he is considered a father of hip hop revolution in SK and many idols respect him till this day. hi Anthony I love your reactions and I watch them frequently especially BTS. just caught your review of Seotaji with BTS... and that got me searching for more of Seotaiji... and I found a posting of a clip on KZbin it had the entire 2 hour and some odd minutes concert that was done with them... it was fantastic I wish I could give you the link but I'm not computer literate enough to figure it out but anyway if you haven't seen it look for it.. it was fantastic and I recommend it to anybody that wants to see the entire concert featuring BTS
