Seoul's FAMOUS Gwangjang Market Is More Than Just Netflix Hype - SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA

So I'm sure many of you have seen Netflix's Street Food series and in particular the episode featuring Seoul's biggest traditional market - Gwangjang Market. Super blessed to experience this for myself and try many of the foods featured in the show and in this video, I'm going to share my reaction on trying these dishes. It's time to get food!

Really great example of food that gives you that Ratatouille moment - it’s not gourmet, it just just gives you those homey feelings - very nostalgic

You’d love it, if you’re down, try the raw beef (yukhoe) dish. One of the side alleys in the market has severe shops that feature it. I didn’t feature on the video and it’s my one regret. Dooby did a video on it.

I was salivating while watching this. One thing about the sikhye is made with fermented rice and malt. I have fond memories of drinking it at parties while growing up. I knew you’d enjoy the naengmyun. 😋

@@IGetFood Exactly--a reason to return. For the amount of time you had you made good choices and covered a good amount in one video. My favourite moment was when Yonsoon Cho (knife cut noodles) smiled and waved at you after you left her stall. After getting to know the story and strength of this woman being fed by her would be an honour :).

One more thing. The sauce that you dipped in was not chili oil. It was a soy sauce based sauce. It looks like it also had a bit of sesame oil and gochugaru (Korean chili flakes). We don’t use chili oil in Korean cooking. 😊

@@IGetFood Sesame oil and sesame is one of the prevalent flavours in Korean cuisine.

Catching up on some of your videos! Looking forward to your South Korean foodie videos! I love the atmosphere of the market it’s so vibrant. Love Korean noodles. I would be too squeamish to try the raw crab!

@rolandjong9126 yeah, Gwangjang has an energy to itself that is unlike any other. Some foods do require a more adventurous spirit, I'm glad I tried it but if it's not your jam, no worries - there is so much there, stuff I didn't even try - you will find something to love I'm sure!

The place is revolting. It stinks. Most of the fried food is dripping in fat. And the raw stuff is vile.

Hey, as another famous KZbinr would say, "Don't Yuck My Yum" Everyone has their own preferences, it's about exploring and finding out what yours is.

@@IGetFood I am so sorry. I should have known you're not evolved enough to accept people have different opinions and can only live in a fantasy world. Even many Koreans wont eat the unhealthy garbage they sell at those stalls. As another YoutTuber would say "Suck it up!"
