He was basically considered by most who played SMRPG to be the one party member that you normally kept in your active party for most, if not the rest, of the game once you get him so he does get a lot of love from fans of his game, personally I don't mind that he's a Mii skin but I can understand why he has a lot of people who'd have wanted him as a fully fledged fighter.

Sakurai was being sarcastic after the frame data by saying "im just the party game making guy!" because he's aware of people throwing around old quotes and acting as if he can't be in touch with the competitive nature of smash at all or that he only cares about making a party game. He's not being petty. He's being playfully sarcastic and stating softly eluding to the fact that he does care about both kinds of play. I don't know why people try to see this as some sort of a "fuck you" from Sakurai. Probably because that fits their fucked up biased interpretation of how he is.

I knew they would add Cloud's party and I'm glad that they brought back the Chocobo hat and Gino so people would shut up about him. I was super worried that Sora would appear, but I'm glad that he didn't, so we still have some sort of Hope.
