It is so frustrating to hear that brands are ignoring your talent and expertise in the make-up world. Clearly because they are not wanting to have men represent their products; that mindset by the brands/retailers is so, so wrong. You both are one of the few I watch for trustworthy info. Thank you because as another person said I’m an older person trying to find true info that would work for me vs. a viral products being shoved in front of us every.single.day. Your true experience as professional mua’s matters to me. Thank you for your outspoken honesty about the industry and how social media is so abusive by brands. It honestly makes me so sad & makes me wanna cry to hear Johnny go through these struggles because I don’t understand why people think that we wouldn’t want a collaboration of his products & honestly these brands are missing out on money. I don’t buy new pallets anymore but if I knew that Johnny or Kevin had made one, I would buy it immediately because I know that it would be a good product. It’s 2024 why is it so hard to accept a man who wears make up? I thought that I was good at make up until I’ve learned so many things that I had no idea I was doing wrong, or didn’t even know, from these two men. Like, damn sorry that these brands are intimidated by people who do make up better than them & are not female. I’m happy that they standby products that are actually good versus having people go out & buy a bunch of products for their personal financial gain, to find out they aren’t worth it. It’s like Johnny said those people have no more followers or viewers. Mr. Johnny Ross, I would have killed to have you do my make up when I got married, I wish I could have hired you even though you don’t do it anymore. You deserve better than this. I fucking love this podcast & I fucking love you guys💕🥰 sending all the love & I hope you are happy & safe!

Lately I'm seeing a lot of phone games being sponsors, a lot of health products like Beam Tea, apps for like yoga classes, things like scent bird, purple mattress, helix mattress, etc.. So maybe you should reach out to those kinda people to help get you sponsored? Since they're willing to advertise on something like true crime, they sure as hell shouldn't see a problem with your content! I'd maybe reach out or have your manager look at some of those sponsors and see if you can get any of them at least. It would be better than waiting around I'd think on some makeup brands who are too stupid to see your worth. 😅 Idk, it's just a thought, and maybe something to look into. Anyways, I love you both so much and I appreciate all your amazing content and I hope it never stops! Know that you're very very appreciated by many, even if brands are too stuck up to realize it yet. ❤

Johnny, I hate to see how bad you're feeling. Baby, I'm just a mom in my 60's, a nobody, but I tell you truthfully, you and Kevin are my ONLY go too for honest, genuine content. Stay strong, don't let them crush what you do. You and Kevin have 3 million followers who depend on you, and are waiting for y'all to put out your own line. After working hard to become an aesthetician and setting up my own business my love was killed over the people in this industry being so vile. It would be a crying shame for us to loose you. I would pay to watch the content that you beauties are cranking out.... but no one else! No one else. ❤❤❤❤

It saddens me knowing such a sweet person is hurting. As an older woman who doesn't care whether or not have makeup on or not, absolutely love watching you. Short doem-long doem doesn't matter. I'm always entertained and I always learn something. Then Kevin joined and everything got even better. I can only speak for myself but I am a lifelong fan. No matter what you decide to do I will support you. Sending massive amounts of love to you. ❤❤❤❤

As someone who doesn't wear makeup often, but does theater and needs products that work, this channel is a breath of fresh air. I'm so tired of feeling like someone is trying to sell me something or wow me with newest viral product when I just want to know what products/techniques work and get out. Having a channel that focuses on how to use makeup as well as what products work and for who is so refreshing, and you're the only beauty youtube I watch consistently anymore

You need to get things like patreon and other ways for fans to support you directly. Then your only responsibility would be to the fans and creating honest content that we can trust. My mom passed away last year and you two were one of the only things that could make me smile. I'm not really even into beauty, but i watch you faithfully every week. I'd be delighted to give you direct support so you can keep creating the content I love.

Johnny is unhinged today 🤣 And absolutely right. I can only speak for myself, but I appreciate the honesty. I don’t consume beauty content from large creators like Mikayla because frankly it isn’t enjoyable being sold something every time I view content. I equate it to being at a restaurant and having the server offer something every time they walk by. How much is too much?? It’s sad to see companies omitting your contributions to the beauty space but the reality is brands don’t value honesty. They want you to play the game because they don’t care if the product is good, only that it sells. Honesty interferes with that.

Poor Johnny about to have a nervous breakdown talking about Juvias place highlighter/blush. I felt this episode right to the heart….😢 The beauty community is so beat down, only a very few content creators are actually “winning”…the rest are just fighting for scraps. These huge brands are laughing all the way to the bank, what happened to all the marketing budgets …these big brands have the $ to pay for content creation. It’s so sad. ❤ you both & I truly hope this becomes something remarkable for you both.

When you looked to camera & said that those of us that watch you or hear your podcast are in the minority it just about broke my heart. I remember having these kind of conversations with my college friends 50 years ago! We supported the gay community as it was called then. It makes me so sad that so little has changed. Total honesty, you two are the last vestige of beauty influencer media for me. I literally follow no one else at this point. I occasionally seek out videos about a particular product, or I check in with the Welsh twins, but the truth is that I’m just done with all of them. I have more makeup than I will ever reasonably use and I’m looking for creative ways to use it. I’m not buying any damn thing unless it’s truly innovative. I’m also beyond uninterested in supporting corporate manipulation and gatekeeping. I know it’s been rough and can only imagine how frustrated and disheartened you are after all of this, Johnny. Please know that if you decide a Patreon is the way to go, you have many subs who would support y’all there. More of Beautiful and Bothered, less of the other BS. And not that I was shopping at Penney’s anyway, but they’re officially dead to me now too. Makeup has no gender and I seriously cannot believe (except unfortunately I can) the 2012 of this attitude of theirs. Beyond being hateful, from a purely business standpoint they really can’t afford to be alienating such a high-value market segment. I’m all for supporting indie brands, though, so I’ll continue doing that with them directly.

You two are my sanity check, my gurus and font of wisdom and validation. I am NOT 23 with perfect taught skin. I’m a grown up with skin that is less elastic, that has dry spots or discoloration. I honestly stopped buying makeup because nothing delivered, nothing performed as promised but that was because the influencers don’t know the science and physics of cosmetics but you do. I don’t care if you’re man, woman or non-binary, if you know your stuff and have integrity, I want to hear what you have to say. Brands need to figure this out fast but sadly, they’ve been burned by the James Charles types. Catty, dishonest, problematic in their personal lives. Those of us who watch the podcast and your beauty content get it. Not only that, you two together is platinum! It’s the communication, the humor, the analysis and wit of it all! I dearly love you both and you’ve actually got me to buy some of your recommendations. I am amazed and delighted and adore you both❤❤

I wish I could give you guys hugs. Thank you for your radical honesty. This shit-homophobia, ageism, corporate bullshit-needs to come to light. You both are so talented and fucking special. I’ve been into makeup on KZbin for forever and you guys are the first makeup artists I’ve EVER seen who showed real passion, real emotions, and inspired and inspiring talent. You’ve given more of a shit about mature women and their makeup than any Mikayla, Meredith, or other female makeup personality on social media. You’re also the first makeup “influencers” to actually give recommendations-Hourglass powders FTW!!!-that are consistently amazing … because they come from 2 decades of actual makeup ARTISTRY and not an algorithm or corporation. Fuck JCPenney and any other entity that refuses to see-or is unable to see because they don’t know shit-your passion, excellence, beauty, experience, talent, kindness, intelligence because you happen to be men. Why does that even matter? Who gives a fuck if a man is wearing lip gloss? Because he wears it better than them? It’s so disgusting. Corporations actively hate LGBTQ until it’s June and they can make money off their suffering. I ADORE you guys and all you’ve accomplished. You are the real deal and deserve the world. I can’t tell you what it means as a 41 year old woman to hear “you are beautiful” each week. Your work has meaning because you put real feelings and real effort. You give a shit. You guys truly have my heart off all you’ve done and who you are. 💖💖💖

You two may not be sponsored or endorsed by all the big names, but look at your subscribers and followers: how IMMENSELY we appreciate your work, your ethics, and your courage to share those anti-establishment opinions with us. THAT, is powerful. Don't ever doubt yourselves and as long as they don't cancel you, we're here for your wisdom! I'm a recovering film student, recovering from my old dreams of making it in Hollywood. No thanks, not anymore. Going to try and go the independent road; so what if it's not going to be earning me millions of dollars - I want to be happy and spiritually fulfilled by my work, not wealthy. That's the price we pay for thinking for ourselves instead of just following along. If I could do it all over again, I still wouldn't change a thing. I hope you don't either! I am a white girl from South Georgia and grew up in a conservative Christian household but luckily I had a mother who taught me to love everyone and it has always been DEEPLY heartbreaking (trying not to cry while typing this) to see how anyone who is not my gender or skin color is treated in the beauty industry or in this world period. I was 16 when the 2016 beauty era was going and that’s how I learned makeup BUT now I have learned more over the years watching people like you who are honest to their core and who can teach!! People ask me for beauty tips and tell me my makeup is amazing but I tell everyone that I learned it off of KZbin from pros. I am in the process of starting my own channel to help those around me locally but realize I have to do it for education and simply because I want it as a hobby. Not to make money. I can’t believe companies are being SO stupid to not employ people like y’all who are actually honest for advertising and formulating. I mean brands should be inviting people of all different genders, colors, and skin types to work on their formulas to make it better!

I quite literally wouldn't have ever decided to try my hand at make up if it weren't for all the education I get here. I listened from the get- go, but the chemistry you two have is magic. The beauty industry is very intimidating to the standard consumer and I know I can trust you two to tell it like it is. The brands should pay more attention because I purposely made a list of products you suggested for mature, dry skin and bought off of those suggestions alone. BTW they were amazing suggestions and have made me feel so confident. I hope you get even the tiniest bit of illumination in your hearts based off of the genuine appreciation people have for your work. Thanks you two!

Hey Jhonny, sending you love and light. Sharing my perspective, I’m also a beauty content creator (female) with a skincare niche 750,000 K Insta, 470,000 K on tiktok and 165,000 on YT… I don’t get brand deals (not the kinds I’d do) the reason for this according to my analysis is because I don’t do click bait content, or hype up brands and because most brands don’t have the intelligence to judge authentic quality content versus mediocre virality. I love you so much… keep doing what you are doing. One day very soon you will create your own brand and your community will support you to the hilt… cause authenticity goes a long way even today. PS: I am manifesting that some day you will do my makeup. And Kevin you are my soul brother… we have the same eye roll I hope someday you can see it. 😂

When people reach out to use your content be like, "hey doll! Here's my manager's email, they can send you a contract!" Having been a hairstylist, it's so weird how the beauty industry works. It's primarily women, yet the people who get the most notoriety are cis hetero males. It's amazing how cis homosexual men who are talented as hell are being overlooked for social media partnerships.
