also when the local train has turned it went left you can see on the right side and show the ridge-spur secret maintenance track in case y'all didn't see it.

I see on SEPTA the operator has to return to his seat from the left side door operation to resume. On MARTA there is a button with the left side door controls labeled "start" the operator presses that button after the doors have closed to start the train before he/she gets back to the operators seat. I'm sure there is some kind of safety feature where the operator has a certain amount of seconds to get in the seat and in control of the train before it comes to an emergency stop.

I'm surprised that they stopped at Snyder. I thought that the sports expresses didn't stop until Walnut-Locust.

Wasn't a sports express, this was a pope express. I'm still bitter about the service cuts during that time.

It was to the glass. Broad St Line cars are full cabs, I recorded from outside the cab as cabs are for operators and authorized personnel only

@@havenas1020yt Nice video! I live in Europe now but I still love my SEPTA trains and I ride them when I am back in PHL. I rode these trains during the Papal Visit. I wish it could have been possible for the extra trains to have been stored on the Local tracks near switches so that this service could have started on the Local tracks at AT&T and then between Lombard and Walnut switched to the Express tracks for the remainder of the route. This would have eliminated Cecil B. but the trains would have run much faster. Maybe they could have stopped at Girard instead but I'd imagine they didn't want to close Cecil B. because it's Temple U's station and maybe storing the Kawasakis on the Express tracks was just easier. I had a ticketed seat for the Papal events on the Parkway and had to wade through the crowd to get to my spot. Considering how congested everything was topside I have to say I was glad that the service was available and ran as well as it did. Thanks for the video.

this date and year is inaccurate because when I was 18 years old in 1998 they was working on the express tracks so what the hell did that come from?

This was fun. I grew up riding the BSL back in the 1950s. I see in the reflection you're wearing a SEPTA cap. Do you work for them or did you buy that? I thought I saw them for sale at the SEPTA store in center city. I live in Florida, but will be visiting Philly next Spring.
@havenas1020yt9 жыл бұрын
+David James I work for SEPTA, and yes they do sell SEPTA hats at the transit store at 1234 Markest St. Enjoy your visit!

I also grew up in Philly in the 50's and '60's. I have been looking for even an audio recording of the BSL trains leaving the station with that low rumble/hum that you heard when it would start up! Cheers.
