⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏴 🏴 🏴 "Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) - BABYMETAL's choreographer is MIKIKO (Mizuno). She has worked with the pop group Perfume on staging and choreography since their inception, developed dance routines for Sakura Gakuin (the school-themed Idol group where BABYMETAL originated), and has her own dance troupe, ELEVENPLAY. She is an original faculty member of Actors School Hiroshima (ASH). Mikiko also created the choreography for Su's first pro singing group Karen Girl's.

Choreographer: Mikiko Mizuno If you had watched the Closing Ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games, the section introducing Japan as the next Host Country was choreographed by Mikiko and she was asked to be the Lead Choreographer for the 2020 Olympics but due to internal problems with the Japan committee and Covid, she resigned before the Games. She was also the Choreographer for Sakura Gakuin and still is for the Mega Jpop group 'Perfume'! Thanks for another great reaction and as always.... Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

I highly suggest you to watch the official live in Japan 2015 to know an epic performance with a great ending they usually do with this song, put some filters to avoid being blocked. @@Icipher353 As I understand it Mikiko was at ASH and later left. And Suzuka came later to ASH, so Suzuka only worked with Mikiko the first time with Karen Girl's. But Mikiko was a founding staff member of ASH so how ASH worked, etc. was very much influenced by her.

Seeing the girls have so much fun moves me to tears. Especially since Moa has the best smile in the world. :-) That's part of the BABYMETAL experience as well. It's not just the music and the dancing, it's also the positivity they ooze that makes them so special. Not too long ago I watched a reaction video from a guy who said it's obvious that the girls are forced to do this and don't enjoy what they are doing. I don't understand to what extent the haters are blinded by their preconceptions.

Great reaction - hopefully this comment won't disappear like all my others on other reactions today. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version.

Yeah, it is their closing song, so they are a mess. If Su looks like a sweaty smelly sock, you know it was a good show. Moa pretty much cried at the Tokyo Dome show so yeah, she was all choked up.

Thanks for the reaction. This is actually a fairly good compilation in that you do get that perspective of Babymetal over time. Some of your questions: Babymetal generally do fairly short sets, no more than 90 minutes, but they frequently do multi-day concert runs. All the musicians are very experienced session musicians for the most part. BOH (bassist), Takeyoshi Ohmura (guitar), Mikio Fujioka (guitar) played together frequently as the Kari Band and under other names. Mikio has since passed away. Leda Cygnus (guitar) is also a well known session musician.
@johnschultz7765 Жыл бұрын
Babymetal's live backing band, the kamiband, members are all top tier *session* musicians. Some have had notable band experience. Leda Cygnus played with Galneryus for a time. Ohmura Takayoshi has been in Marty Friedman's band in Japan. The Western Kamis came from Galactic Empire and Shadow of Intent. Many have had their own projects over the years. The Eastern kamiband members are often well-known as jazz or fusion players, which is not uncommon in Japan. Mikio Fujioka (RIP) was a master among masters and an instructor at the prestigious Musicians Institute. Leda is the only one known to have been featured on any studio tracks. The studio musicians are generally uncredited. There are a few videos and web pages that have information on the couple of dozen musicians that have been in the kamiband pool.

How they keep doing this for an entire show? Cardio training, of course. They are professional dancers after all. I remember a report that Su practices singing on a treadmill. Don't know if that is true but It may very well be. What's more, they have four songs during which Su rests backstage and another four where the other two rest. During their long shows, they perform two each of those so everybody gets to rest twice. Their longest show was the one at Wembley Arena. The Blu-ray release runs 1:43:50.
@road-runner Жыл бұрын
Good reaction, thanks! Yes, the songwriting process includes the live performance perspective. They are often considered a live act and they even consider their studio albums as "business cards" being the live performances their core business. The choreos not necessarily follow the song's rhythmic pattern. They mainly tend to explain the lyrics. I believe this compilation contains all the possible performances of the song available on BD (or most of them). And it's pointless. It's like the meme: Q: "How many performances we can join in one compilation?" A: "Yes!" And that does not guarantee that you will not get blocked. The Kami Band is formed by a group of session musicians, the best you can find (or money can pay). They have their own projects besides BABYMETAL. There is also a second set of the Kami Band added in 2019 formed by American musicians.

The way how Babymetal choreography is created is: the moves serve two purposes, they have things like: throwing up the arms to let the audience know to do the same. Then the other part is: the moves are an interpretation of the lyrics. Almost like sign language. This means it doesn't matter as much how many blast beats their are, the moves will still fit the song.

The performance with all the sweat was from a venue which was really hot, it's not because it's so late in the set. They are extremely fit. That said, Babymetal shows are limited in length because of it. A smaller show, expect it to be 1 hour. And bigger shows are stretched to 90 minutes, by using more introduction videos between songs to give them a breather. Babymetal now has a western Kami band as well. The drummer Anthony has some great playtrouogh videos on his KZbin channel, please react to: Anthony Barone // BENEATH THE MASSACRE - Rise of the Fearmonger (Official Drum Playthrough)

First time visitor here. 9 year OG fan. 20 concerts under my belt. Came here thinking this would be another silly reaction with no substance or a fake over-reaction, but I'm happy to say I was wrong. When you started talking about the choreography and then the lyrics and talking about poetic substance in music, DUDE! You get it!! You got me all emotional when you quoted Dave Grohl. I really like your in depth review and discussion of the song, the band, choreography, lyrics. Btw, BABYMETAL concerts are 12-14 songs. About an hour and half at most. The musicians are just session musicians hired by the Producers. Although they are very well known in Japan, they are virtually unknown anywhere else. Although they have a rotating roster of musicians throughout their history, there are some notable regulars that seem to always be in some form of lineup. The most regular Japanese musicians are BOH on six string bass, Takayoshi Ohmura guitar, Mikio Fujioka guitar (RIP), Leda Cygnus guitar, ISAO Fujita guitar, Yuya Maeta drums, Hideki Aoyama drums, among at least 13 others. Not to mention the Western Kami Band, Anthony Barone - drums Chris Kelly - guitar CJ Masciantonio - guitar Clint Tustin - bass

Who creates the choreography has shifted over the years. In the beginning, Mikiko was the choreographer who taught the girls the steps. These days, Moa comes up with steps to the songs, and Mikiko comes into the studio, and the girls show them the steps they have come up with. Then Mikiko spends a couple days working with the girls to refine the steps into a final routine.
@silly_programme5061 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm gonna need a source on that one bro
@Wombatmetal Жыл бұрын
@@silly_programme5061 Well that's an insulting way to put it. The source is Mikiko Mizuno. In 2016 or so she was on J-Melo, and she was working with three girls from Morning Musume, and taught them part of a Perfume routine. After they practiced and did the dance, there was a question and answer period. The girls asked how long it takes Perfume to learn a routine, and Mikiko replied 3 hours. Perfume comes in and is shown the steps, they practice for 3 hours, and they are ready to go. Then the girls asked Mikiko how long it took Babymetal, and Mikiko said 2-3 days. Mikiko comes into the studio, see what the girls have come up with, and over the next couple of days fine tunes it into the final choreography in collaboration with Babymetal. When they appeared on Songs of Tokyo, Moa said in the interview "I always bring in steps like Ballet to give the dance cool elements." There you have it
@Wombatmetal Жыл бұрын
@@silly_programme5061 Meta Taro is a perfect example. We know the girls were marching and swinging their arms in the studio during the recording. This all shows how brilliant a choreographer Mikiko is, working with her artists as individuals
@silly_programme5061 Жыл бұрын
@@Wombatmetal After some searching, I found Mikiko's appearance with three MM members (including Riho) on J-Melo, but it was in late 2014 and the only mention of BM I saw was when they were talking about what groups Mikiko works with at the beginning. As for Moa mentioning borrowing elements from different styles of dances, there's no indication there that she's the primary choreographer, and since Mikiko has always been named as their primary choreographer in every other mention, I'm hesitant to believe that's changed. You'd think that if Moa were doing the choreography, they'd be doing a little more to advertise that fact, because it'd be a selling point for the Moa stans, similar to how they credited Su for the lyrics to Shingeki.
@Wombatmetal Жыл бұрын
@@silly_programme5061 MM were regular parts of the show and were on segments all the time. It's out there, year could be wrong, and I don't remember if Riho was involved because she was not on my radar then.
