Gerry Bassermann taught me intro to electronic music at UCSC around 1999 and demo'd the Boss Dr. Sample (SP-202) and I was hooked on sampling. Glad to see he's still at it. What a legend.

Apart from all these fabulous noises, can it produce very simple deep Sub bass? I was pretty disappointed with the REV2 that it was severly lacking any deep bass on the oscillators.

That doth bring up a specific question does it not. Native instruments board and one one their synths and you got the same things for a Grand and its 88 key; unless Im missing something.

I'm going to buck the trend in the comments and say great demo. Vintage King in Echo Park? Not an alternative to a good rompler but this looks and sounds so much more interesting compared to say dicking around in Kontakt.

Yes, that's Vintage king in Echo park. I agree with you. For someone who doesn't find messing around Kontakt inspiring, this is a great choice. That instant satisfaction should count for something.

The guy did a great job with an overview. I think the potential with this thing is enormous as well. It kind of reminds me of Kurzweil synths in terms of sound. Which is actually a great thing cause those things sound fantastic.

@@Screaming-Trees Right. That was my first impression as well. You select a sound, move a knob and something interesting happens right away. I would not recommend this keyboard for someone who wants to play traditional piano but for everything else it's a VERY useful tool.

In The Mix A possible different and better strategy is to demo the sounds based on "modern day hotness" so to speak. That is to ask.." what sounds and musical arrangement is hot today. Prime example, he made an emphasis of the Acoustic Bass, but nobody's really used acoustic bass anymore in modern music. Styles that would sale the board are gospel/ jazz piano, 80s movie themes......Trap, and Edm music are also very hot today

I agree with the idea, but after all this board is mostly geared towards composers of all genres. Keep in mind this was a 3 hours event so what you see is only a small portion. The rest was for the audience to walk up to the keyboard and try the keyboard for themselves (I didn't want to walk up to them with a camera and ruin their experience). I do a lot of orchestral and acoustic music myself, so I'm definitely interested in Bass and such. There are tons of sound tracks being made with such acoustic instruments on daily basis. We all wanted to hear the sounds in solo. For me listening to the sounds with busy pre-recorded backing tracks is a turn off. It'd be nice for the sounds to be demoed more efficiently but I wouldn't want them to be masked and drowned in backing tracks. Also this is the 8Dio edition and this particular company is geared heavily towards these type of musicians. Most likely the PX is not going to be someone's first keyboard ever. You're dealing with a more experience community so most people know what to look for.

8dio are really bad sounding libraries , and horrible optimized, and fuckinly large. The instrument is more bad than libraries, what a shame.

@@InTheMixReviews Yeah i own Kurzweil FORTE Korg Kronos X , Yamaha MOXF and a lots of software synths, is it enough for you buddy ? I tried most of virtual instruments and sample banks of market. I can compare it, and 8Dio is mostly overpriced shit, very unmusical presets, bad programmed mapping etc...

Anybody can go to a store and buy keyboards! It's not like you have some special access to hardware. You could totally be an absolute beginner and own a truck load of hardware. I'm not rejecting your 'opinion'...but until you provide some convincing musical evidence, that's just it man! As far as your comments about 8dio software, looks like there's a big community who use their products. It's also possible that you personally failed to use their products in a musical way .... or it could be that they didn't fit your style or whatever. Anything goes. The only thing here is the library size. We can all agree that no body likes to install massive libraries.

Agree ...I have 5 of their library’s including 1928 piano, Requiem Pro and their latest legato phrase choral library......I have literally never used them....I find they are impressive at first listen but when I try and create something they are not flexible and don’t give u all the tools you need. The demos give an impression that doesn’t carry through.
