If you are present when he checks on you, he says some positive lines (“Excellent, you found your duty post!” etc.). If you are absent, he is less positive about the situation (the final shot in this video is his reaction if you are absent from your post when he checks on you). There aren’t any consequences if he finds your post empty, though; he has to actually see you wandering around the base three times before he turns hostile.
