Brilliant show one of the best. I was 5 in 1966 and have fond memories of my father in tuxedo's taking my mother beautifully gowned to company events, at top restaurants and hotels to wine and dine clients. This was the music my parents listened to, it was all very sophisticated and refined.

Soo Great to find this show , i had an amazing experience to be at a small party In Toronto many years ago with people from the music world ,like Gene Leese who brought Bossa Nova to the north.....At that party was Oscar Neves, Sergio Mendes guitarist ,Sergio was playing at the Royal York Hotel and Oscar came by because he knew some of the Bossa /Jazz people there. I was standing close to him while he was on the phone with Sergio ,i could understand some of the conversation in Portuguese, great thrill after he got off the phone i asked him if he would play One Note Samba for me /us What a thrill what a night ...Never wil forget it.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Sergio Mendes and his group three times.: June '77 @ Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto. It was their opening night of a two-week gig. Soccer star Pele was in the audience that night as he was in town playing with the Cosmos. The second time I saw them was here in NYC @ B.B Kings Nov. '09, and @ NJPAC in Newark two years later. Each time it was an unforgettable and amazing musical experience!

Brings back memories of those days when music was really great. Relaxing music that we can listen to everyday. Also memories of seeing Sergio Mendes here in Manila in 1975 and when I visited Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1977. They had Marietta Waters in 1977 and Bonnie Bowden in 1975. But my favorite Sergio Mendes singer of all time is definitely Marietta Waters. Here at her prettiest and classiest in this video. Thanks for posting!

Thanks so much for posting this.... I was playing bass with Sergio at the time.....I always thought it was never aired.....the other players are Oscar Castro-Neves and David Amaro on guitars Alan Diaz on drums Ron Powell on percussion. The group was actually Brasil 88.

Thanks, Warren, that was a fun night! Yes, it aired, but only in mono and only once. Although HBO reluctantly paid for the stereo mix, they did not want it on their 2" master we delivered. But Bill the editor at Compact Video was a good guy and he laid it back for me onto a 3/4" cassette so this is the only stereo mix of the show. Your band was TIGHT and you're a fantastic bass player. Thanks for the correction, I changed it to Brasil 88.
