Awesome tutorial. Thank you. I was taught to pronounce Gaussian as GOW-see-an as it named after a german scientist, Karl Friedrich Gauss. Maybe AI voiceover got it wrong. Really appreciate you sharing you knowledge.

Great video. Are you able to do a focal shift with the depth map? For example your foreground is in focus and it transitions to the background in focus. Any help would be greatly appreciated

what if you want a gradient blur? a blur that's lighter but boldens as you go further into the background?

its crazy how this is basically a bypass to using magic mask which is only included in the premium resolve, great alternative. In the ways I would need it at least 👍

Thanks! With Depth Map, you don't track movement; instead, you select elements based on their depth. Magic Mask is used to selecta specific element in the video, while Depth Map allows you to select all "elements" that are near, intermediate, or far. Additionally, you can adjust and select areas with greater or lesser intensity.

What's going on guys! Can anyone tell me why when he drops in the "Depth Map" effect he has 2 green connection points and 2 blue? I only have one of each (a green and a blue). Im asking because my end result shows the depth map instead of a video with a blurred background.

It depends on how you plan to use it: to simplify, Magic Mask is used to select specific elements in the video, while Depth Map is used to select areas of the video based on their depth. The advantage of Depth Map is that it allows you to select different areas with varying intensity, while Magic Mask focuses on an element in the video and tracks it.
