I'm a psychologist & I loved this show. I get that they had to fictionalise it but Oscar & the team did such a brilliant job in staying respectful & not adding to stigma surrounding DID as well. I wrote a whole blog about how nice (for a change) the depiction of DID was. I hope you'll love the show as much as I did !!

The DID depiction wasn’t great. You don’t just switch suddenly like in moon knight. The only accurate thing was Steven missing his date etc

@@goodgaminggirl_2861 like I said they had to fictionalise it. I understand that, & I did address that when I wrote the blog which was obviously more detailed but it was more respectful than stuff we’ve seen in the past like in “split” which was intolerable. It was just good for what it was, a marvel superhero show… it’s Fiction. People won’t watch if it was just “accurate”. Plus I think Oscar handled it really well in interviews & you can see he did his research & studied well.

@@btsxtherapy I love how Oscar said it himself: the point was to make it feel authentic, not be a 100% accurate. The only thing that may be a problem is Jake. Fans know he's not, but it'd be fun that a season 2 address it more clearly. In the meantime I'm writing a 300K fic which addresses it.

Some facts about Moon Knight so far: For episode 1: Marc suffers from DID (dissociative identity disorder). However, his alter Steven thinks he's sleepwalking. That's why he chains himself to his bed, surrounds his bed with sand, tapes the door, and tries to find ways to stay awake. Also apparently, the scenes for the alps were filmed in Slovenia. For episode 2: When Steven has the suit on, he's known as Mr. Knight. He looks like a Kingsman Deadpool. Manners maketh man. For episode 3: Director Mohamed Diab fought for Layla to be Egyptian. May Calamawy is from Bahrain but has Egyptian-Palestinian roots. People are gonna know her more thanks to Marvel Studios. And finally, Anton Mogart/Midnight Man was portrayed by French actor Gaspard Ulliel. Unfortunately, he passed away back in January 2022 when he had an accident in a skiing resort in France. Moon Knight was one of his final projects released posthumously. The third episode is dedicated to him.

This show contains the best acting I’ve ever seen in the marvel universe and beyond. Oscar Isaac did SUCH a tremendous job in this show, and Ethan Hawke’s Harrow is one of my favorite antagonists. Also, I absolutely love how confusing the show is, especially at the beginning, as it puts us very much into Stephen’s head and we are literally just as confused and scared as he is, watching him go through all of this chaos. One of the best things about these Disney + series’ is that they allow us to delve so much deeper into a character than you can get in a 2-3 hour movie and they really allow for a very interesting pace.

Heya, actual person with Dissociative Identity Disorder (the thing Steven has) here. This show is really good at showing the fear and confusion it can bring The one thing it doesn't touch on is dissociation itself.. Its expressed through sudden moments of lost consciousness which does happen! But something which they couldn't fit in is.. A general dissociation. Imagine that weird dizzy feeling you get from being drunk, mixed with the in ability to focus.. And spread that all day everyday. It gets worse and better depending on the mood but it can be really rough and can disable you for life (at least it's done so with me) Although a lot of it is still played up for TV they did an AMAZING job with it. DID is caused by trauma early in life where the mind cannot process it and therefore splits into multiple identities. These identities are completely different people with different thoughts, feelings, emotions. They're just as real as you and I, but the "host" is the identity which "fronts" the most. (Fronting meaning in control of the body) Although I can't see my alters in the mirrors like Steven they can take control of different limbs and even my entire body. And if I stop focusing I can hear them all talking up there. As this show goes on you'll see how they use DID to their advantage in both cinematography and storytelling I never thought id see a hero like me And now that he's here I love him Moon Knight is one of my favourite shows of all time I hope you have a great time with it!

Dissociative Identity Disorder (or DID) is one of the most overwhelming mental illness ever. I had a friend, passed away after an accident, who suffered from this condition. She (or they) was born as Camila, but inside her head, there were Bruna, Joana, Ana and Ellen. Four different girls, four different personalities. She had to buy clothes for each of them, else the triggers and anxieties got worse. She had a very, very, VERY f-ed up childhood, which resulted in severe traumas, triggers and stuff. So DID is something these people use as a coping mechanism. They can't control the switches and some of their personalities might hold some level of suicidal tendencies and try to hurt the body. She slept a lot, so she didn't had to switch. She was constantly tired. The accident was caused by her, driving her father's car just a few miles to buy some groceries. Witnesses said there were some sirens and loud noises because a near house was on fire and there were people being rescued. The main suspicion is that she switched mid-driving, hence why the car was found under a pile of rubble after hitting on a nearby wall. She died instantly. Her father still haven't recovered from the guilt. She was in a good week and wanted to drive a car so much. She knew how to drive because they practiced in the countryside, where her grandma had a small farm. And the streets here are really calm. The father still says that it must have been another personality trying to hurt her. Still, we prefer to believe it was a switch. The whole community felt their loss, just as when they were starting to have a bit of normalcy due to her new medications and ability to finally afford therapy.

The real fun of this one IS, that he has no idea what he is about to step into. What's going on here is multi-level twisted. And they don't really stop to explain a whole lot. In the comics, he started out being one person,... and then he wasn't. Then there appeared to be 2 more personalities, then there appeared to be several outside entities involved as well. Then things got really weird. No TV show would want to willingly embrace all of this dysfunction, right? Well, here it is. They're diving DEEP!! It's so brave and courageous to even make the attempt,.. to lay it out and say, this is really really complicated. And is the real danger coming at him,.. or coming from him?

I am very late to the party on this one but here are some things!! Firstly Oscar Issac does a phenomenal job with acting as two different people and the only differentiation they have is how they carry themselves. It is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Also, your reaction is 100% in line with everyone who watched this as it came out. Just constant confusion and trying to piece together a puzzle but none of it makes sense. A quick note about the invisible jackals. You can only see them if you’re an avatar of one of the gods. Or you throw something on it to help outline it’s shape (ie the liquid Layla threw on it). Moonknight is probably one of the deadliest hero’s (ehhh antihero maybe?) in the MCU. He’s up there with Deadpool with violence. It’s the fact that this man is being driven crazy by the moon god in his head while also still dealing with DID and the tolls that that has on the mind. He’s wild in the comics. A fun fact! The first appearance of Moonknight in the comics was in Werewolf by Night #32. *wink wink nudge nudge* Anyway! I can’t wait for your episode 4 reaction because hot damn it’s a doozy.

MOON KNIGHT! FINALLY 🤩 This has become my favourite D+ MCU show together with WandaVision. Oscar Isaac is stellar as Steven and Marc and imo he should've gotten all the awards. In the making of Oscar said he practiced Steven's accent for months before shooting and went method for this role and was talking like Steven for days on end, even with his kids. I also loved the attention to detail the producers put into depicting Egypt (still angry at the horrible depiction of Germany in Avengers 1 which was just a lot of german and bavarian stereotypes mashed together into a completely different part of the country, argh). It's so fun to have to question yourself all the time and look gor little details to see what's going on. THIS SHOW IS SO GOOOODDD

Legit psyched to see Alex react to this show. It's so surprising if you know nothing about the character. I put it off for a while, but then I was amazed when I finally watched it. It's one of my favorite Marvel shows.

Totally get it! Thanks for the heads up. Here’s what I’m doing. Finishing daredevil this Friday. Finishing Moonknight this Monday. Then reacting to Spider-Man 2, 3, the amazing Spider-Man 1, and 2, and then no way home!

@@alexhefnerstvmovievault don't worry tho, Moon Knight has little to no references to the continuity of the MCU so it doesnt matter if you watch it before NWH or anything like that. It's a contained Story about Mark & Steven ✨

I'm glad Oscar was cast in this. This series shows his true potential in acting. He's amazing. Yeah, Marc has multiple personality disorder. Not all of us do though. Read up on the basics of Egyptian mythology and that will help with the show. A suggestion regarding your comment about other types of movies that aren't superhero movies, watch Identity.

You're the first reacror to catch the clues that there may be a third personality. Oscar Isaac is phenomenal in this role. As someone who enjoys the good fight scene and diferent styles and stories, I'd recommend Werewolf by Night. Id love to see your reaction

I feel like this show flew under the radar. I remember watching it and was so excited that maybe marvel knew what they were doing again. Unfortunately I was wrong but I still really loved everything about this show (apart from the last episode or 2). The way it was a horror at the start and it’s so confusing but everything starts to make sense throughout it, the sound track, the cinematography is all genuinely good
