Your fish in that first tank are trying to teach you something, but you missed it. The blackwater that you found to be "unsightly" your fish preferred. That's why your tank is thriving so well and plecos that usually hide are out and about. 😉 6.6 - 6.8 pH blackwater is ideal for the species you are housing in that tank. At any rate, welcome back home. I hope you enjoyed your US trip.

100% I couldn't do what I do to provide for my family without her. It's why I don't really get all this male vs female stuff you see nowadays. The strongest unit is a couple. That can be any sex/orientation as well but you need support no matter what.

Fish room looks great as always. It’s good to see your beautiful tanks getting maintained as much as I love watching tanks being built up from nothing, I also love to watch them when they’re fully seasoned and watch the behaviours of the life living in them. Kate is good little helper. She’s just like me when someone puts a camera in my face, you can see her discomfort a mile away. All the tanks are looking great now! I agree with Kate, I don't care to much for the plants when they grow up out of the water either. That was a nice compromise though, with the front at least trimmed down, looks better now. Glad you made it back from your US visit, too. Christophers sons tank is amazing, and they both were so happy with it! Great job, MD!

I think the red tank would look nice with a common old blue veil-tail betta, to replace the platinum you lost. A nice pop of blue would be lovely. Also, those black phantom tetras caught my eye. Nice fish.

It just needs some time to re-balance itself. Keep doing your normal water changes. If your new light is way more powerful, consider turning it down a little.

I don't know if it's the same for fish, but in the bird world if you have a bird which is light coloured or white but doesn't have the pink eyes of an albino it is called a lutino. Not sure it's the same with fish, though it is also with most mammals I know of as well, so my (probably wrong) guess is that it might be..

I love plecos and have several in my 180 gal. I bought a young L128 blue phantom a few weeks ago and I bearly see him 😂 Ahhh the joy of keeping plecos in large scaped tanks.. he is thriving and loving life, but I see him for like 5 seconds every other day if I’m lucky 😂

I dare you to do a blackwater altum angel tank. Very few plants, so it has to be all about the hardscape. I'm thinking over hanging branches. A couple of spotlights will create a really dramatic effect.

Hope you had a great time in Texas it’s getting really hot here in Virginia so I can’t imagine how hot it probably was in Texas I have cousins there but I never get to go see them because I don’t drive anymore love at all your trim backs I wish I had as many plants as you do I’m starting I was having a trouble with planting and I put in a round flat bubbler, and my plants have taken off in just two weeks. I guess they needed that extra oxygen in my really big corner tank.
