You need to be laying on your back to recover - not sitting upright. Look into some yoga stretches to ease back pain.

@dooglassandesperanza11 ай бұрын
Cannabis is still illegal in Mexico. And even if it was legal I don't really need pain reduction. I don't take pain meds for injuries or surgeries. I consider pain as my bodies signalling system to tell me when to stop. If I took something to artificially reduce the pain then I would think I felt better and immediately go out and hurt myself even worse. I have had chronic pain my whole life from continuous kidney stones and migraines. I have learned to deal with the pain without any medical interventions and keep on living life!

Find a good chiropractor for an adjustment. I injured my back when I fell off my bike a few years ago. My family doctor prescribed pain meds. Oh, man, back injuries are the worst. Back in 2009, I ruptured a disc - L5/S1 - and couldn't tie my shoes for six months. I had the option of surgery, but everything I read suggested that is an absolutely last option. It took about a year, but less than two years later, I was running marathons again, playing golf, etc. - basically, everything I could do before. So, a couple of suggestions: 1) Don't let this turn into a rupture. Pushing your back too early could do that. Then you really are in trouble. 2) Get a copy of Peter Egoscue's book "Pain Free." It has simple exercises for most major skeletal systems and was the saving grace for me. 3) The best exercise is swimming if you are a decent swimmer. Saving that, walking is very good. 4) There are certain movements we do that put regular strain on one's back. The most common is getting out of cars and trucks "like a man." Swinging one leg out and putting all your weight on that one leg as you get in or get out of a car. Better: get out like a woman (who is in a short skirt.) Swivel both legs out, then put your weight equally on the ground as you get out of the car or truck. 5) Maybe don't do things like dig holes. Oh, and did I mention not letting it progress to the level of a rupture? What you have is a herniated disc (probably.) It's bulging, but not ruptured. You simply MUST let it shrink back in. And if I were you, I'd for sure head over to the hospital and see a doctor. It won't cost much and it would sure be nice to get a solid opinion and some suggestions - and maybe a prescription for something to decrease the swelling. Don't push it, buddy. I really, REALLY regretted not taking a little longer to let my herniated disc completely recover. The year I was out of things due to the rupture really hit hard. Good luck. Oh, and I'm listening to the end of the video now - sounds like you're all too familiar with what I'm saying. But, I had probably 3 or 4 back issues prior to the rupture (including once where I had been painting and simply stepped of a footstool.) I think the fact that it never ruptured made me overconfident. 🙄 Again, best wishes!

I’ve been messaging you back and forth for two years, and I mentioned that I go to Rocky Point, often. I’ve done a lot of research and I almost convinced my wife to move to Mexico. However, she’s not too motivated because she can’t find homes for sale to find motivation. I actually found out that I can actually become a Mexican citizen within 2 years because I’m privileged. Not my choice of words, it’s the Mexican law. I’m even allowed to own ocean front property. I would need a lot of persuasions, but it’s very difficult to see homes and stuff. She’s the pictures type person. If that was a possibility, I would need to stay in San Felipe. Anyway, I know it’s easier said than done, but you need to relax. Thanks for sharing.

A friend of ours here just got Mexican citizenship. Required excellent written and spoken Spanish and four trips to Mexico City. Seven years after starting he did get it.
@TimeToBeKind11 ай бұрын
@@dooglassandesperanza… I grew up in Mozambique, but Portuguese. I have 3 citizenships, Portugal being one, and that’s the privileged part. When I looked into becoming a Mexican citizen, I was told that I only have to wait 2 years. Besides speaking Italian and quite a bit of French, I’m fluent in Mexican Spanish, Portuguese and English. Convincing my wife is the difficult part, trying for 42 years, since I was 19 years old. HAHAHAHAHAHA If I lived near you, it’s guaranteed that I would be helping you. It’s in my nature. Thank you for your videos.
@dooglassandesperanza11 ай бұрын
That's awesome. The seven years was because he had to learn Spanish to the level to be able to pass the tests, but the four trips were due to bureaucracy and not having all of the paperwork and documentation that they wanted. The other issue with Mexico is every time you try again and talk to a new person the requirements can change. It is often at the discretion of the official you are talking to.

How’s the medical care for US citizens in Mexico?
@dooglassandesperanza11 ай бұрын
We are residents so we can get free basic medical care at any public hospital in Mexico. The public system is good but can involve long waits. There is also private medical care available here which I think is better than the care we get in the US. It is way cheaper. I could go see a specialist for my back and have an hour appointment for around $30 and the doctor will usually give you their personal phone number if you have any questions. Imaging is usually about 25% of the US cost (or free if it's ordered by a public doctor) and surgery around 50%-60% less. This is all without any medical insurance. That being said I do not like doctors or medication and avoid both like the plague. I can google doctor myself just as well.

@davebaker48911 ай бұрын
To both of you I must say you've done a grrrrrrrrr8 job so far but once and awhile relaxing is NOT a dirty word. You think sitting around in your trailer is bad, try being strapped into a hospital bed ! Example... My mom is 92 and still going strong ish. She often complains that there is something she can not do anymore or she has to rest more in between "tasks". At which point I will remind her she isn't 30, 40, or even 50 yrs old. She reluctantly agrees sorta. So slow down, smell the cactus and maybe hire someone to help. Or enjoy your hospital stays. 2 yrs ago I had a knee replaced, the end of this Jan I'll be getting the other knee replaced. Most of this is due to being "stupid" and not accepting any help. So in short slow down, read a book, learn to enjoy fishing, hire some help. If not that lovely lady you depend on will be doing your "chores" and hers while you are laid up. Choose wisely grass hopper. P n D
@dooglassandesperanza11 ай бұрын
Wise words. Being in a hospital bed is a fate worse than death for me. I was once in the hospital for a severe kidney infection for a week. I ended up "escaping" the hospital against medical advice. I have also had three knee surgeries but luckily they let me out the same day and my orthopedic surgeon knew I was not going to sit still so he stared me on micro rehab sessions 6 times a day starting the day after surgery.
