@@hebcal sure can! So when I went on it was the first time I went to the mental hospital. It was a lower dose than I take now, but it made my moods so steady and helped with anger. I think there being an illicit market for serequel makes a lot of sense. When people are using drugs for prolonged periods of time they will start to experience the effects of their drug use. Like sleep deprevation, psychosis, hallucinations and anxiety. Aren't those all of the things serequel is supposed to treat? If someone isn't willing to stop doing drugs or seek help it makes sense they attempt to self medicate.

I am also a seroquel user since 2010. I try to keep my dose as low as possible because it doesn't feel good. So i also don't understand why someone would take that just for fun. It doesn't make you high, it doesn't feel addictive and the higher the dose the more side effects you get like a weird feeling in your legs. It doesn't have any recreational properties at all. I also know a lot of other patients who took it in the past and most of them can't stand the effects of it. Most patients hate that stuff, only patients like me who experience a possitive effect on their symptoms are willing to take it.

Abilify has good reviews. I’ve also heard of birth control being used as a mood stabilizer in combination with other meds. I’m kind of surprised your doctor would recommend an antipsychotic for a depressive episode if it’s your first time presenting with such symptoms. Mood stabilizers are often used for treatment resistant depression but normally doctors would start off with SSRIs. If you don’t have bipolar or schizophrenia SNRIs have been effective for some people as well.

According to my knowledge these meds are highly potent and often used by people globally but in many cases they have a terrible issues to handle by some people therefore they may be effective to some people but not to others. It's just a way they are I mean the meds. No one has control over how they can either make things worse or better. Unfortunately I was in those unlucky people. I willingly by using tapering method. Today I m free from that. But ti's does not imply that the medicine is causing difficulties. It is possible but it is not ultimate that its not a good medicine. If anyone has problems after taking it then u must ask the doctor who is responsible for the treatment for your case. Now stating that I will go further to help by saying that you and the doctor should together plan your next step which will help you drastically it's trial and error atleast for me. Thank you

How slowly should a person diagnosed with dementia be weaned off a 25mg dose that the doctor prescribed. She had been on it for just under 1 month, it's been decreased to a 12mg dose....doctor prescribed it unannounced to her Power of Attorney's.
