I'm still trying to figure out why the WD40 was used on the bolts? Makes it sound like it was sprayed on the bolts after they were out. Why not use an anti-sieze?

The video was very helpful, except for the fact, he neglected to mention that there is a def injector gasket that you need to replace once in a while so that three minute job for me, turned into a two day job because I had a bolt that broke and I had to drill it out and I had to replace the def injector gasket and I had to replace the injector gasket which was heat welded to the injector and the mounting. However, I would suggest using never seize or anti-seize on the bolts instead of WD-40.

Also clean this if def usage goes up. The white crystals mess with the spray pattern which makes it less efficient.

You could try Blue DEF Platinum, I run it exclusively and my injector is staying clean.

I agree. I switched to Blue Def Platinum and no longer use Biodiesel fuel.

Try using blue def platinum. You shouldn’t have to clean it anymore. It contains an additive to help stop caking up.

No i was buying def at Home Depot or auto zone but it wasn’t the blue Def. Each time I clean it truck is cold, I’m usually home.

I just removed and cleaned mine at 52k miles. It was ready to be cleaned. I also replaced the old rusty 10mm bolts with new stainless steel bolts.

Mf my bolts were rusted so bad I thought it was 8 mm then ended up welding 3/8 nut with 9/16 wrench snapped off after about 2 move the other side I sanded im not sure if have to get pipe or can tack weld it my truck was parked to much and rusty I did see a lot white so now I’ll try hot water and maybe see if my brother can fix the bolts

I’m concerned I’m going to snap off the bolts. I’ve been soaking with PB blaster for several days now. It would be nice to know the bolt size. Some have replaced with ss bolts. If I do ever get them out I’m going to treat them with some hi temp anti seez 😊

Did you ever look down into the scr for build up of def? That is common on trucks that idle a lot or that are used heavy towing, there is or was a campaign for this issue by installing a def umbrella, I have 80k on my 3500 never had that issue, but I also work on dpf and scr issue everyday as a mechanic

Yes my engine light would turn on and service Def light too. I was using bio diesel and cheap Def. I now use regular diesel and blue Def (Costco sells it for $13.99) I haven’t cleaned it in over 2 months.

If possible I'd keep another one In truck for quick swap and cleannother later after delivery. Cause time is money. Be back on road. Gotta be ready for any situation cause on road never know atleast there's a back up

Yes the blue Def works well, I use it. when I was using biodiesel I cleaned it more often. Now on regular diesel I can’t remember last time.
