Freja has had three training classes at Petco and I have been public access training her since she was four months old. I have had to do public access training and task training on my own. I do need a service trainer to help me train Freja in complex public access situations. I have the same approach when I do public access training with Freja . I want to see what we need to work on. Freja does need a lot more distraction training.

The folks that some of you are talking about when you say "how to take your pet any where" are NOT service dog handlers... by deffinition 1. You have to have an actual disability that the dog is specifically task trained and public access trained to work SAFELY for their handler..... so if one of these isnt true they cannot be defined as a service dog handler. A person with a disability can have an untrained ESA that keeps them company at home and does not go into public. A person who doesnt have a disability can get a letter written to have an ESA to keep them from getting lonely such as elderly persons. (The only thing that makes a pet into an ESA is a letter from a doctor.... which is why ESAs do not have public access rights and should not be in public in places that are not already pet friendly like petsmart or SOME malls... ) So the folks intentionally paying $151 to scam websites that give you fake service dog registrations- ( Certification and Registration Q17. Does the ADA require that service animals be certified as service animals? A. No. Covered entities may not require documentation, such as proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a service animal, as a condition for entry. There are individuals and organizations that sell service animal certification or registration documents online. These documents do not convey any rights under the ADA and the Department of Justice does not recognize them as proof that the dog is a service animal. ada.gov) KNOW their dog is not a service dog and dont even consider their dogs safety in trying to bring an unsocialized, fearful, reactive dog into walmart where the dog becomes stressed out and tense and becomes a danger to its self and any one else in that walmart INCLUDING REAL SERVICE SOGS AND CHILDREN. In the USA there is no National service dog registries since the only real service dog registry that exists are for the program dogs to be accounted for but thats just the school effectively giving the graduating dogs that go on to work their diploma, and a judge may ask for it to prove public access violations, although owner trainers can also show their training logs and doctors note and explain what tasks the dog is trained to perform to a judge rather easily. It is not a peice of paper that makes a service dog a service dog, its the process of picking the right puppy with the right temperment, low enough prey drive, who is confident and stable enough to be able to enjoy wprking for their handler in a lot of new places like county fairs or airports or concerts. its the hours, weeks months and years that go into training the dogs and the near endless amount of money on gear, vet visits, food and toys.

And this kids, is how to piss off a service dog handler. But fr, only a few (really sucky) people bring their pets into public, service dogs are life saving medical equipment. NOT JUST FOR VETS OR BLIND PEOPLE. The people that do fake service dogs are frowned upon, not to mention it is a felony. Keep that mentality up and you’ll be sure to piss off quite a few more people in your lifetime, have fun being rude af! 😊

@@cougar2013 Not only blind people and verterans have service dogs, sometime the service dogs can be trained for deaf people or phyciatric disabilities or invisible disabilities or mostly medical disabilities there many things service dogs are trained to do

As someone with cardiac issues, I am getting a service dog. I pass out and my heart rate skyrockets. You do not have to be blind or a veteran to have an SD.
