Service on the Fiesta MK6

In this video we go back and work on the old Fiesta style for a much needed service! In this service we complete the main tasks, fresh oil and a new oil filter, new NGK spark plugs and a new fuel filter.

Fuel filter tip.. you see the new filter with the plastic tabs on the end pull them off and put them on the old one when removing the filter to stop the fuel peeing every where :)

Oil filter tip mate if you get some foil stuff a couple of sheets in and then undo it will all pour off the foil and not all down the engine 👍🏽 also oil always tip the bottle on its side pours much cleaner 🤟🏽

You should try go to local car part shops mate, cheaper and faster service than euro car parts. Nice video

My local car parts shop is a rip off. Use ECP for most things, usually pretty cheap and delivery is fast, or have one a few mins away.

Reason for oil on the filter seal is to stop it tearing as you tighten it. Should have done same with sump plug really but no issue if it isn’t leaking

If you dont have a Farnell then get a coke bottles cut top not to far use that as a farnell still dose that same keeps oil away from engine . .

If u slacken off the oil filter a bit whilst the sump plug is out it gets more oil out of the sump instead of the oil filter and making a mess

I done a lot of servicing at my old work place and that is pretty much how we done it, only tip i would give is when taking the oil filter off, do it slowly till the oil starts to come out and let it drain out a bit, then undo it some more let that drain and so on till it comes off, that way it doesn't explode everywhere like what happened to you XD. One question I have is where you got the air intake for that car?

Nice one cheers for the tips mate. Its just a ramair air cone filter mate. Twisted the original pipe 90 degrees clockwise to sit in front of the engine for the better heatsoak option 👍

I’ll give you a tip , drain the oil 1st then replace the oil filter then check it everything is tight then fill with oil then let it sit for 5/10 mins then start it up let it run idle for 5 mins

You should change the inlet manifold on your st can’t remember if you got Rev limiter put on but I added one and gives off a sweet sound !!

Stop !!!!!! You are missing your number one piece of kit ,a old piece of thick carpet about 2 yards long and 1 wide .Best thing you can have for doing this job on your Fiesta ,had 4 fiestas now over the last 15 years and the carpet is important to lie on and also to avoid any oil getting all over the driveway .Use a builders style black bucket with a pouring lip rather than the bowl too as the bucket is higher and catches the oil better and its also easier to pour away when finished .Remove the oil filter with the drain plug still out to avoid oil pouring out of the filter too much due to a possible vacuum in the system .Best tools i have bought are a magnetic spark plug remover and also a proper oil filter wrench ,really does make it easier .Change your plug leads and coil too if money allows ,makes a difference in performance i found .Wear something more suitable for crawling under a car rather than shorts and a white t shirt .Your final best piece of kit to buy are funnels ,loads of them in different sizes from any car shop ,i use them a lot in my own trade decorating and have others just for the car esp to refill with the new oil ,you need rags and plenty of them too and finally get some brake cleaner on the job to wipe off the oil around the filter .Other than that you done well but learn off others who have spent 40 years doing it and you cannot go wrong .ps a k and N panel air filter is well worth the money too .

Good one 👌. Any difference in power / smoothness? Need to service mine next month and MOT. With my diesel the oil comes out black probably due to the soot in the engine and that's with like 2k miles each year
