Tips for people: make sure you know how to use some of these. Don’t use an e collar if you do not know how to use it. It’s an amazing tool, but make sure you know how to use it. And that goes for things like vests and collars too!!

OMG I never considered the leash wrap (tbh I didn't know it even existed until recently). My SD has the exact issue you were talking about where she relies on having her SD vest or her SD backpack on to know she's in work mode when in public. For me she still behaves relatively well but there is definitely a difference. I will definitely look into that for when I get a puppy in the future! I'd say the gear that I have and use the most often is: SD harness vest Standard Collar A hands free leash (connects to your waist) A short leash (I think its about 12 inches long including the handle) Doggie booties Dog Water Bottle I often forget to bring the treat pouch, and store the poo bags in my personal bag. I generally forget my collapsible bowls as well. Ofc I have a crate and plenty of other things but atm I'm only really thinking of things I take when leaving the house. As a person with a handler trained SD I do want to learn more tips and techniques others use to work on their training and gear people use. I am a bit iffy about using a clicker because I do not know how to use it properly and I've seen firsthand how if you don't do it right, it can do much more harm than good. However, from everything I've seen of properly used clickers, I do believe that it is a skill I will need to learn as it is far more beneficial to train a dog with one than without one!

This video is perfect. I’m in the middle of training a service cat to help my seizures, ptsd, and anxiety. Now I know the ADA says only dogs and small horses can be service animals, but Wisconsin laws say any animal can be a service animal not just dogs and horses long as the animals is trained to assist the individual
@batsofthemans76982 жыл бұрын
Plus why a cat not the best choice for a service animal seeing how cats tend to be their own entity. Versus a dog that can fill your moods and come running naturally with a high level of train ability.
@diya.7575 Жыл бұрын
uhm just a heads up federal is above state laws and that means u litteraly can’t have them in public (they could still task/work in cat friendly environments
@Riotingk9Ай бұрын
The ADA states clearly that ONLY dogs can be service animals. Not even miniature ponies, which was an update to the original law. States must follow under this law

Why do so many people go for those E collars that are very expensive when there are great ones that are 25-50 dollars?
@SpreadJoyThroughGod3 жыл бұрын
Not all E collars turn out to be good it is safer to go for an expensive one.
@thepawswithpurpose3 жыл бұрын
e-collars have up to 100 levels, where the others in pet stores are more like a shock collar than an e-collar, which delivers a stim. they are much safer and better for communicating! :)
@eggthedog3 жыл бұрын
mini educators & dogtras (aka the expensive ones) have been tested & proven harmless and safe when used correctly, cheap ones (like ones from pet stores) have not been tested, and don't have the dogs safety or welfare in mind! so it is a lot safer to get an expensive one so you know that your dog is going to be safe and unharmed

CAN you go an entire service dog’s career without using any tools? (Except treats & a clicker. I’m saying prong & ecollar) With that being said I’m NOT against those tools as I have to use them for my reactive dog but for my sdit if I can stay away from them I will. Is it doable?
@thepawswithpurpose3 жыл бұрын
totally! but using tools could potentially benefit or get your dog where it needs to be, so sometimes avoiding them isn't right for every dog. that being said, not every dog needs specific aversive training tools! it goes both ways. but if it could potentially benefit them, why not? i hope this makes sense! :)

Stopped watching once you promoted a prong and e collars. Why would you if you want to build a bond with your dog. How would you respond to your parent using this on you. Same thing. Investing in your dog and using positive reinforcement is a kind healthy and rewarding method over force, inflicting pain and discomfort. This is your companion it should like and trust you and respect you through good leadership not fear you. Real shame as I actually thought you started out your video quite well. hey! i am sorry you feel this ways towards training tools. when used correctly they can be immensely helpful and are completely ethical! i love my dog more than anything in the world and we have an incredible bond, and i use training tools daily. when used and introduced properly, they can be awesome! if you would like to learn more and get educated on training tools i would be more than happy to discuss them with you... as far as my parent using training tools on me, i wouldn't feed my child dog food either, would you? dogs are great, but they aren't humans. :)
