Finally a Continental video I can knit along with and understand! For 3 days I have watch Brioche videos and was soooo frustrated knitting along with them. I knit Continental and that was my first issue with the English throwing style altho I tried to interpret and knit along, I inevitably got lost. Some do brioche with even number stitches some with odd. Edges are different. Some have a set up row, and this one didn’t, but I figured in my head your Italian CO was the set up row. This video has been the most helpful. Slow enough, showed enough repeats, good camera angle, good voice. My edges look like crap and I’m not sure why because my row ends are (1) K, (2) slip with yarn in front, (3) P, (4) slip with yarn in back. I did get co fused when you would use blue and white and light and dark. I think Main Color and Contrast Color would have been better terms as I think that’s what many patters use. Thank you.

TY...2 problems I had was with un fastening the slip knot...I kept loosing a stitch messing up the colors...but I know now what I was doing...and best hint was the issue of NOT crossing the blue(dark) in front of those "ends" I just unleased with removing the slip knot. Now I know why my stitches were wonky.

If you are knitting brioche in the round, do you still need an odd number of stitches?

I use either double pointed or circular needles for brioche. I don't think you can work it with single points.

If I wanted to graph a 2 color brioche infinity scarf which methods would you suggest for casting on and grafting? Thanks!

I would use a provisional cast on such as the crochet cast on. Then you would just remove that crochet cast on and put the live stitches back on a needle and graft using the Kitchener graph. Personally, I would try it on a swatch first. You might end up Kitchenering each side in its color. For example turn the work so that the color you are grafting is facing you and graft only those stitches, then turn the work and use the other color and graft those stitches. Separating the two colors onto separate needles first would be helpful and less confusing. Let me know if you try this and if it works.

I assumed provisional already, I meant because you offer more then one way to start 2 color brioche which would you recommend if you planning on graphing?

Ah, I understand your question now. I don't usually use a provisional cast on for Brioche, but if I were planning on grafting the Cast On edge to the Bind Off edge, I would use a provisional just like any other time that you want to connect those two ends. I would still start right out with the two colors, directly from the provisional cast on.

Is there any reason why you couldn't just brioche right up to edge stitches without slipping and also have an even no. of stitches? I have seen videos of one colour brioche with an even no. of stitches worked in all brioche and no slipped selvedge.

This is an excellent question. Just like in regular stockinette or ribbing, there are many ways to deal with the edges, it is the same in brioche. Depends on how you want the edges to look and whether you want them to be symetrical. I always like symetry.
