Hey Mr. Otcasek, I saw your story in the news about the difficulty of dealing with a father who was never there when you needed a dad. Millions of us have the same problem, and we don't have a rich famous dad. My dad was a loser from my point of view, but he worked in a factory at a union job for 46 years, and retired and married again when I was 7, and had more kids, and forgot about me, sometime around 1969. I tried so so hard to find a way to meet with him and have dinner. But each time, the pain he added was like throwing fuel on the fire. He still despises my mother some 50 years later, because she had to sell their car to buy food while he was in jail for trying to kill her. His spoiled kids, expect to get all the inheritance, and they will not speak to me, thinking they are better than me, but they are just *%*^.

Pinecone I'm really sorry you had to go through something like that , wow . Maybe you were actually fortunate that you didn't get to hang out with him and have dinner ... maybe it's possible he would have been even more of a disappointment .

George Washington said it's best to be alone than in bad company. You can pick your friends but not your family. Your friend are more of your family than your family. Your better off than them and your going to be way ahead of them in the long run.

Jerry Lee Lewis the writer? No way. Try Johnny Greenan, Johnny O'Keefe, and Dave Owens. Google or Wikipedia it if you don't believe. Johnny O'Keefe was the original artist, the song was called "The Wild One" at first but became "Real Wild Child" after Jerry Ivan Allison (The Cricket's drummer) released it under that name.

He is the SON of Ric Ocasek. Rick dropped the "t" early on. This version is included on the "Pretty Woman" soundtrack and as far as I am concerned, was always a version superior to Iggy Pop and others. Often a vocally inferior "other" version has been used in various movie productions... not Chris' vocal. I never understood why.

@Lisa Surlie what exactly has his wife been doing? was she making as much as he was? i know he probably made the most of it because the cars music is out there and he was receiving his royalties. i didn't know she was as successful in her career as a model. maybe there's more to her than what's been shared with the public and media. from reports she was successful in the mid to late 80s and for getting the part in the music video but nothing worth noting from the 90s to when he passed. what else did she do that she contributed as much financially as her husband did? i'm just curious because seriously, i don't know. people also need to get the point that there would have been no Benjamin Orr without Ric's songs, enough criticism and be joyful he brought Benjamin Orr into your lives. 😊
@francoh47012 жыл бұрын
@Lisa Surlie 😄 at the half brother/third cousin comment. no i just didn't know anything about their situation and thats why i asked. i agree with you on his solo work and that 2011 album more of a solo project with the band members playing along side him. i just don't know her or maybe i'm just too young to know her work.

Iggy's version is better. But I admit Chris Ocasek(or how ever you spell it) is the better singer, talent-wise. Lets be honest. If they both appeared on American Idol for the first time, Chris O-' would be the more pleasing singer. This is not to say Iggy can't perform or even put on a great show. History makes that obvious.
