Seth, I appreciate that you keep the price point in your shoe reviews. I waited until the Endorphin Pro 1 was on sale for $99. I am just not going to pay $200 to $250 for a running shoe that is going to ONLY last 3 to 4 months.

QOD: Basic watch. I was volunteering at the Osaka Women Marathon today (hence I missed my weekly long trail run), and one of the questions people kept asking me was when would the top runners pass our point. I had been told 13:10 on the out leg, and the lead runners were right on point. I’d forgotten the return time (the course is basically an out and back, I was near the 18k and 30k marks), but once the FRB came back, I could tell all others when they could cross the street safely. In any case, a good old watch is basically what we all need. For the shoe nerds out there, I’d say 85%+ of the runners we’re wearing Nike, though with their fast cadence, it was hard to really see them. I saw maybe only one or three Endorphins, a few Adidas and NB, and probably a few more Mizuho and Asics then in North American races, though to be honest, I was more interested in their strides than their shoes. One thing that surprised me was that though it was an elite marathon, most did not pump their arms nor have a forward lean as I had expected. They all had courage and determination though, and I applauded all as much as my duties allowed me.

My Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 is fighting toe to toe with the Adidas Ultraboost 22 to get the first spot as the most comfortable shoe to run in 2022 ! It is a huge pleasure to run with either of those two shoes.

Just returned Gel-Nimbus Lite 3, picked up the GN 24. Went from 12 to 12.5 and they run narrower than the Lite 3. Loved the looks and feel of the Lite 3 but they run closer to true to size. More cushy pillowy than 24 but less spring and support imho and I’m only 165#.

Frickin love my Nimbus for easy runs and long runs. Not one for quicker sessions but great when you want to feel secure and steady when you are putting the miles in. Capable of picking pace up a little bit in progression runs. Also they are bulletproof so while not cheap they will last forever. Not tried this new version yet so I'm interested to see how this stretchy tongue changes things.

Thank you for always including the price point. It does matter. If a company charges $160, it needs to be on the level of endorphin speed. $130? Needs to be competitive with max road 5, rebel v2 and Novablast line up. I love the Invincible ($180) for example, but I got the GoRide 8 (diet invincible ) on sale for 100 less and really really okay with that.

It was a plain experience and nothing to highlight. I'm going to give it another shot, and hopefully, my opinion will change in the near future.

QD: The internal combustion engine in my car. When you think about it, the basic concept hasn’t changed in 130 years. Nike’s Air Zoom system is a close second. That tech is pretty old. I think Asics has an internal competition problem. The Nimbus 24 being priced so high, when the Novablast has been proven to be just as durable, and more versatile for $30 less (thanks to the DGR community for all the proof). It’s becoming had for anyone to justify the Nimbus 24’s price point when the Novablast exists (with no Gel). I understand the Nimbus is a flagship shoe, much like the Pegasus is for Nike, but the time has come for Asics to make some drastic changes in their lineup… but keep the Novablast because most of us love it.
@filoIII2 жыл бұрын
I COMPLETELY disagree w/ you about most of us loving the Novablast. As a runner well versed w/ the Nimbus line and lineage, and quit running in them for a while, I can tell you I sold those loosey-goosey Novablast after 2 runs.
