Muahaha! If you're one of those people who insist I buy the optimal tool for every job, you're really gonna hate this one. Today we use a $100 chainsaw and a $30 beam cutter attachment to mill oak into planks. And it works! Then we build a nice little kicker as a proof of concept. Enjoy!

I can barely clear 3 inches on a cross country bike which weighs half as much as his full suspension bike. Sure, I'm a "little bit" bigger than Seth (6'2") but this is mad hard. That's at least a foot, which is insane. I had to watch it like 10 times over in slow motion just to make sure lol

Next time try throwing some of those smaller logs under the big one as "wheels" and just roll it on out, moving the small logs from back to front as you go. Egyptian pyramid block style.

Strap that hand truck to the log lengthwise and roll it over so wheels are down. You don't have to hold the handle of the truck that way. Just make sure your tires are solid or aired up.

This is awesome, love the rugged creativity that Berm Peak has unleashed in you! To make the most out of that little winch without adding a snatchblock: Set your tree anchors higher to pull up on the log and decrease ground friction, choke the log at the very end for maximum pull, try a plastic sled or scoop shovel under the front end of the log to increase slipperyness.

Hey Seth! Just a tip, you can always add in a pully system, such as one called a "z drag" to help lighten the load and increase the load capacity that the winch can pull!!

As a semi-professional sawyer (I own 170 acres of timber and 2 Woodmizer sawmills), the cheap chainsaws mills hurt me to watch, but I fully recognize the utility and low cost for making a few boards (I just kept thinking that it'd take me about ten minutes to make that lumber on my mill). No, what REALLY pained me was your struggle to get the log out of the woods. It looked as if you did it the hardest way possible. Even with no tools there were much better ways. FWIW, white oak heartwood is one of the most rot resistant woods in the eastern forests. In ground contact it should last 20+ years. Love your vids and look forward to the new ones.
