I GENUINELY don't think they were in the first place... DB's writing is weird, inconsistent & messy af but regardless, there's noooo way Cabba and the U6 saiyans can defeat Buu or hell, even Cell before they got SSJ2. That God-Base boost after the Beerus only applies to Goku & Vegeta, no one else. It just logically doesn't make sense in my head and ruins the respective lore and concept of Dragon Ball. TOP Piccolo for example as well ain't that stronger either, he's not saiyan built to get 50× stronger per training sesh, he still can't beat Buu. @@WrongKristoff the best way to describe U6 saiyans is this : take broly in his ikari form, and have him control and master that form in his base. U6 saiyans are just that, but better. They are evolved saiyans strong enough to not need the great ape form anymore. Just like broly who doesnt need a tail to access this power. What if, what we know as ikari form in broly, is actually the natural power of a U6 saiyan ? Or if you want it the otehr way, Broly could just be the first "evolved" saiyan in U7 This way its easy to understand why u6 is so strong. Is it amazing ? no but its not bad either

Narrative wise, they probably said it but they don't properly re-emphasize or focus on that aspect which is frustrating. Visual wise its definitely on the animation studio's direction choices. i.e. One Punch Man LOOKS amazing and powerful, but if Saitama is weaker than Goku, why is Dragon Ball so dull on displaying that power? Yes, he was stronger than Goku, Krillin, and Piccolo, but in the world he comes from -- a world ruled by Frieza, bumping shoulders with Vegeta, likely knowing of the Ginyu Force, and even characters like Cui -- Raditz is horribly, horribly outclassed. Even Nail, who was the strongest Namekian sans Piccolo, had a power level of 42,000, which would absolutely embarrass Raditz.

The power scaling in super got so unbelievable when characters r said to be as strong as a ssj god in base. The idea of goku absorbing the power to his base was such a bad idea, especially since they bring the form back later

To be honest, not really it's just that the power creep is terrible and the writers don't care to make sense of it. But yeah I guess it would have been better to avoid absorbing SSG in base, I think manga Goku didn't absorb SSG in base.

The writing is always "he's the most powerful ever, can rip apart the universe etc." and then they just throw some base level guy in like Jiren who matches that and more. It's awkward to just base power on a raw number, rather than something like Naruto where strategy plays a much larger role in the fights

In terms off toughness and what it means when the word is used, generally that should translate to being strong, since it's often shown that Power Levels are also tied to durability (Nappa shrugging off Chaozu's explosion, 18 snapping Trunks' sword when he also sliced Freeza in half, etc.) Generally it's shown that fighters are as strong as they are durable, so their other stats should scale as well.

This is sorta true for Dragon Ball, yet it makes more sense to scale them seperately since some characters throughout the entire series have had a power that while gives them heightened strength, they cannot withstand that strength themselves so they need to be careful using it. This is for other fictional media too, in a sense. While many who demonstrate what they can do can likely survive that amount of power, many characters in fiction need to be careful using too much power or even a specific move because that move is likely more powerful than what they can regularly handle. So for Dragon Ball as a series, it is mostly true, but there are cases where the opposite is true. This definitely goes for versus debates in general, since a character with power to match durability could be put up against a character whose power far exceeds their durability.

First off, he gets the rival boost from the earrings which probably give him a small 10% increase. Second, the fusion dance is literally weaker than the earrings. If Goku has a power level of 10,000 and Vegeta has a power level of 7,000, then Vegito would have a power level of 70,000 as the earrings just multiply the fusees. Meanwhile, both entities have to be the same power level to successfully fuse with the dance. So Gogeta here would have a power level of 49,000. It's no use arguing, Vegito just stomps Gogeta. It's fine if you like his design or his moves but thinking he's stronger than Vegito and hypocritically calling Vegito fans "meat riders" is absurd

You could scale the humans of the tournament of power above base Gohan from the Buu saga as that base Gohan failed to cut through kachin meanwhile krillin, master Roshi and Tien were able to destroy parts of the tournament of power arena which was made of a stronger material 👍

Keep in mind Trunks had to imbue his sword with ki in order to cut through Frieza, as it was otherwise just a normal sword. Gohan assumed the Z sword was an indestructible sword of legend, so he didn't enhance it with his ki, so obviously it broke against kachin. That says literally nothing about Gohan's power, only about the sword's poor quality. We have no idea if he could have cut through it or not if he actually used his ki on it.

I know it's just filler, but I never really understood how Goku became stronger than Cell for the Otherworld Tournament. You can say that Goku got a zenkai boost from dying, but Cell also should have received one when he died, and he also received one before he died. Even if Goku got a zenkai, Cell should have been one zenkai above Goku with a higher starting power before the zenkais kicked in. The best explanation that I have is that people that are sent to Hell receive a debuff which makes it easier for the ogres in Hell to manage them; this also helps explain how the Ginyu Force was defeated on King Kai's planet despite Tien, Yamacha, and Chiaotsu having only six days of training with King Kai. All head cannon about filler, of course, but it makes the most sense to me.

I was referring to how Otherworld Tournament Goku, who scales to Pikkon, was stronger than Cell. By the time of the Otherworld Tournament, Goku wouldn't have nearly enough time to close the gap that should exist between himself and Super Perfect Cell. I don't think the particularly evil/powerful villains go through the soul purifier; if they did, then they would have at least some of their evil removed before going to hell. From what we see, neither Cell, Frieza, nor any of the villains we see in hell have a change of character that would imply that they've been through the soul purifier. Dabura probably got purified before he went to Heaven

I get they wanted to make them actually useful for the story or something like that but it kind of just invalidated all of the work the Z warriors put into getting stronger in Z. Botamo is a really weird case. He is stated to nullify every single attack (I guess except magic like, petrifying spit, candy beam, Mafuba or God like techniques like the Hakai) and we have even seen him easily negating ssj top Vegetas attacks and top ultimate Gohans attacks. My question is: Is this effect truly infinite? He obviously can't beat harder opponents but in a match without out of bounds regulations, could Botamo potentially just tire his opponent out and then just beat them?

Anime Botamo apparently teleports the damage of the attack to another dimension, which is why nothing hurts him. In the manga however, Piccolo simply says that his body is like rubber, and thus bounces off the attacks; Vegeta states he thinks even a Super Saiyan wouldn't be able to deal any damage to him, but he says nothing for Blue when Piccolo comments so. So in the manga it's very likely a strong enough blow will simply surpass his defenses and defeat him, in the anime it's a bit different with the dimensional crap, so I suppose one should try to counter that somehow, like when Super Buu opened a hole in the dimensional wall of the HTC.

I feel like Dabura and Super Perfect Cell are equals due to each having a bunch of abilities in their arsenal. Cell can regenerate, but Dabura could stone spit and render the regeneration useless. Cell is science and mainly ki, Dabura is magic, so they each have a niche. I liked Octopapa because his mere existence proves at least that very powerful ki or techniques are not restricted to the dominant, society based species of a planet. Granted, this was in the early eras where literally anything could exist on Earth with no explanation, but still. Also, it makes me wonder if Octopapa and Broly would technically both be considered the mutant pinnacles of their races at the time of their introduction.

I love how out of control the tiers had to get with Super. There's so much anime-only stuff in that, and I love how you put like half the characters in unable to scale because there's no way to figure out how strong they actually are. It's almost like Toriyama is just BS'ing it as he goes along and just making up new stuff because it sounds cool, which I think is exactly what he's been doing for decades now. He casually just forgets entire plot arcs and has characters jump over each other for almost no reason simply because he just forgets how strong they were. I think it's because of the inconsistency between the anime and the manga. Manga Beerus doesn't even see MUI Goku and UE Vegeta as a rival, while anime Beerus used %70 of his power only to beat SSG Goku which is nowhere near as powerful as his current MUI form. Another example is that in the anime, Whis mentions that Belmod is stronger than Beerus while in the manga, Beerus just plays with all of the gods of destruction AT THE SAME TIME while they can't even land a hit on him. So yeah....it's weird.

We haven’t seen anything from Beerus to scale him since then, so he should be in the unscalable tier, because for all we know, he could be as strong as manga Beerus. The fact that most people think Beerus is stronger than MUI goku in the anime is shocking. It has been stated that the gods fear MUI, if they fear it why is goku then way weaker? MUI goku bullied negdiffed jiren, the same jiren stated by whis to be above the gods of destructions in general. The only way beerus would be better is if somehow belmod is just a complete garbage god of destruction and the weakest one by several magnitudes of power. But heres the problem with that, where is the evidence to support this? In the manga its directly shown that all the gods are atleast comparable and able to hurt and defend against each other, so where exactly is the evidence that belmod somehow is just magnitudes weaker than beerus? since thats the quite literally ONLY way beerus could be stronger EDIT: also belmod doesnt just have to be several magnitudes weaker, he has to be complete and utter trash compared to beerus for it to make sense, since if beerus is way stronger than belmod and MUI goku also is then theres no way to know defenitvly. *Why would Gogeta be weaker than Vegito when he's introduced later? His placement on the timeline would make him stronger than Vegito (and you were going chronologically). *Base Goku was tanking hits from Jiren before he went MUI so there's no way that SS Broly would be weaker than Jiren when he completely demolished the SSB version of that Goku, because UI is a technique, not a multiplier. Goku got stronger in the ToP and went UI from base. The Granolah arc shows that Goku can now stack SSG forms with UI which makes him fight better, but it doesn't make him stronger. And the only difference between MUI and Omen was that MUI was more stable. All of that means that (DBS:Broly) SSB Goku has much more raw power than (anime) ToP MUI Goku. *Anime Jiren would be stronger than BoG Beerus, but not any other form of Beerus because Beerus still easily defeated a Vegeta who had underwent spirit training and saw his power multiplied by many times compared to when he was in the ToP. The manga stated that Jiren was stronger than Belmod, but nobody else and the anime states that in U11 was a being whom even a GoD couldn't defeat. Whis commented that this GoD defeated Beerus, but it was clarified that it was only in an armwrestlingmatch. The statements your referring to are from commercials and other (possibly) mistranslated promotional material, but not from the lore itself as evidenced by the fact that they contradict the manga (and the anime when it returns).
