The main thrust of Persona 3 is quite possibly the most metal premise for a JRPG I've ever come across. The main antagonist isn't a demon seeking to erase existence, or a god trying to take control. Instead, it's a cosmic horror born of the apathy and despair of humanity. It seeks to simply remove suffering, but it does so by removing all motivation to live. With the only way to combat it and stop it from dragging all of humanity into a state of total apathy is to take a specially prepared gun, put it to your head and pull the trigger. Only by staring Death itself in the eye and making it blink do you manifest the ability to take a stand, finding value in life, suffering and all.

Japanese rap is interesting for a couple of reasons. Culturally, of course, it has developed somewhat separately from American rap, meaning that while it is influenced by some of the same artists, it has gone in a variety of different directions you don't normally see in more conventional American rap. This is best represented by the fact that Japanese artists will happily drop English words into their songs, sometimes even rhyming English with Japanese. This makes songs lyrically very interesting, especially when they use words that *wouldn't* rhyme in English but do rhyme due to Japanese transliteration. From a metrical perspective, Japanese rap also has a bit more ease, ironically enough, because it's a syllabic rather than phonetic language. The Japanese hirigana and katakana alphabets are each made up of individual syllables, rather than discrete phonetic sounds, and all of them end with "a," "e," "i", "u", "o", or "n" sounds. This makes it somewhat easier to rhyme certain words... At least, compared to the somewhat tortured rhymes you'll sometimes hear in American rap.
@BHox012 жыл бұрын
Not to mention Lotus Juice lived in the US for like a decade when he grew up so his English is pretty damn good too
@ebmage87932 жыл бұрын
Something else about the Japanese language is that tense is the same for most verb endings. You can conjugate several sentences with the same ending tense (present, past, future) and they would naturally rhyme. for example ...arimasu, ...yomimasu, ...nomimasu all rhyme simply because Im using present tense endings.

It's not exactly a remix, but probably my favorite case in persona where elements of a track are reincorporated into another would probably be Joy and Memories of You from Persona 3. You can hear a lot of similarities between the two, but they create two totally different feelings, and the way it's done ties in really well with the story too. It's a pretty rare thing in the series though unfortunately. The only other time I can remember off the top of my head is in Persona 4 with Corner of Memories and Never More, though that's a lot less subtle.

Burn My Dread is not only fantastic for all the reasons you and others in the comments have said, but it also sets up the main leitmotif throughout Persona 3. The leitmotif is derived from Burn My Dread's verses and is featured throughout the game. One of the songs it features most prominently in is "When the Moon Reaches for the Stars" another track starring Yumi. It even follows through into the various spin offs featuring Persona 3, like Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight's intro song "Our Moment". It's really fun finding the leitmotif throughout both the game's OST and the Persona series overall!

If you're looking for other remixes of Persona tracks, you could always give the P4D/P3D/P5D game soundtracks a listen. They are dance/rhythm games but I don't know if anyone has requested any of the tracks up to this point.

I really recommend listening to the main battle theme of Persona 3 "Mass Destruction," it's one of my favorite songs and the rapper Lotus Juice also sings it 😄

burn my dread last battle is one of my favorite from persona serie (a LOT of songs between persona 3 and persona 5 are just pure gold)

Burn My Dread is also especially worth listening to while watching the opening title movie for the vanilla version of Persona 3. There's honestly almost nothing like it. The first time I booted the game up I had to sit there and just stare at the screen after what I just saw, even though it was quite short.

The final battle burn my dread will forever be my favorite track in the whole game

My favorite version of this is actually the Final Battle - Voice Mix Arrange, since it includes the relevant dialogue from the actual final battle. It uses the JP voices, and they are really good at portraying emotions, so those added lines of dialogue in between the rapping really hit hard without taking away from the music

Second one was used as opening for persona 3 FES which expands a story a bit after the ending of base game

The Intro song and the final boss fight song. Seems fitting. Both really capture the essence of Persona 3. Persona music really is good

I think you should look for Triple Mix. Is more dramatic with the piano, but with elements from the second version

If you like Burn My Dread (Final Battle) You gotta listen to the Dancing Moon Night's Opening song: Our Moment or the Persona 3 FES Opening: P3 FES.
