@laggalot1012

To briefly explain the "mount" versions of the theme, In Monster Hunter World, you could mount a monster by performing repeated jump attacks, at which point you go into a sort of minigame where you're repeatedly attacking the monster from atop its head or back as it attempts to throw you off. Succeed, and you topple the monster for a few seconds for free damage. Whenever this happens, the battle theme changes to the mounting version and back again when it finishes. And yeah, Proof of a Hero, that kicks in when you successfully connect the "Dragonator" on Fatalis. (A massive, spinning spear thrust out at violent speed, activated with a mechanism thar you probably only get to use once.) You could say it announces that victory is within your grasp. This use of Proof of a Hero is something of a tradition with climactic final boss or siege battles in Monster Hunter. See also Jhen Mohran, Gogmazios, Lao Shen Lung, etc. Those all have this, too.

WOOOO FATALIS This dragon is among the most infamous in Monster Hunter, and probably has the most "LORE" of any monster in the series. Long ago, Fatalis essentially waged war against all of humanity alongside other monsters who were tired of humanity's exploitation toward them upsetting the balance in nature. Fatalis goes beyond that though, and is not only extremely intelligent, but feels a deep hatred for not just humanity, but all life. Fatalis ties into what little MH history we have, as we learn about the "ancient civilization" that came before that was more technologically advanced, but ultimately vanished and many believe Fatalis played a hand in that. The place you fight Fatalis is Castle Schrade, an ancient stronghold for the extinct kingdom of Schrade which Fatalis is believed to have laid waste to. The Black Dragon (one of only three monsters in the series classified as Black Dragon. Usually monsters that pose a comparable threat are referred to as Elder Dragons) resides in this hallowed land even still and threatens all who come near with a quick death. In this way, Fatalis is probably the closest monster in the series that embodies the 'dragon clutching its treasure' trope, but instead of riches, Fatalis resides among its trophies, what it sees as its greatest achievements. As for this medley, it's fantastic and plays throughout the battle with Fatalis in Iceborne. They use a LOT of leitmotifs and melodies in the song that older fans would know. At several points throughout this medley, (5:09, 6:54, 8:39) this melody plays, which is actually the Kokoto Village theme from the very first MH game and is some of the ONLY levity this battle has. Fatalis was the final boss of Monster Hunter as well as final boss of MHW Iceborne, so it fits in well as an empowering moment during the oppressive feeling that Fatalis' theme gives off while itself also feeling more and more desperate every time you hear it. The Monster Hunter World main theme (19:46) is also used as a leitmotif in this song, as this is the bookend to your quest in that game. Truly a long and harrowing battle with Fatalis in Iceborne and a welcome challenge to many players. This battle takes real effort to clear, and is even tougher if you try to solo it; demanding near perfection to do so. Of course, it does what any good climactic MH battle does: the music builds with each phase and ends with Proof of a Hero once the tides begin to shift in your favor at the very end. I'm glad you enjoyed it Jesse! I wish you could see the monster intros every time you get a monster theme request, but while that might enhance your enjoyment of the music, that'd be a lot to ask. Fatalis deserves the special treatment also lol

To describe what the fight actually is In game: -Fatalis has the highest HP among all other monsters in World/Iceborne (if I remember correctly) -Without proper gear or buffs set up, pretty much 70% of his attacks are one shot -Despite the size, he moves surprisingly fast (especially for people who fought him in previous games before) -In phase 2, he enters the enraged mode. All of his fire attacks damage are increased to a point where even with maxed out gears can still be a possible one shot (which can still be reduced by how many times you break his head part) -In World/Iceborne, there's a system called S.O.S where you can sent out the signal to allows other players to join the quest. This is, however, not allowed in the First encounter until you dealt 30% of HP damage to him. -The quest's time limit is 30 mins, when most of other quests in game are 50 mins. -As the reward of this quest, most of his gears are pretty much the strongest one in the game. This is truly the Final Test in the Monster Hunter: World/Iceborne for players, and solo him with any certain type of weapon does mean that you do actually Know how to use that type of weapon.

It's tradition in Monster Hunter for the main theme "Proof of a Hero" to kick in when you turn the tables in a desperate fight against an Elder Dragon as one of the final encounters of the game. My personal favorite is Monster Hunter Tri where it plays for Jhen Mohran, a two story tall sea whale that is about to destroy your sandship. When you nail it with a giant anti-monster lance called a Dragonator, Proof of a Hero kicks in with a swell as you finish off the weakened enemy.

I'm really glad you enjoyed this one! I know MH has been pretty hit or miss on this channel, but its pretty understandable. While there's a lot of great musical talent at Capcom, whenever a MH fan listens to the music, they're picturing the monster in their head. The way it moves, the way you dodge it, the way it sounds, etc. So it helps that this had some visuals, but the piece is also very good at telling the story itself, so you don't _need_ the experience (although that does certainly elevate it). Phase 1 is a fight for your life. The evil Black Dragon has come to destroy the world, and you're the only one who can slay it. And at first, it feels impossible, the creature is simply too strong and too dangerous. The different melodies being smashed together feels chaotic, like someone's thoughts may be when they're up against something this dangerous. But, somehow, you manage to survive, and deal some big hits. But the Dragon isn't done yet. Phase 2, the Dragon shows its full power. despite this, it somehow feels more doable than before. The music becomes less frantic and more heroic, although definitely still intimidating. As it goes on, its not as much a fight for survival, and more of a heroic last stand against a world ending beast. But then, you remain alive. The beast keeps reeling, and you keep driving it back. Turns out this isn't a last stand, but its about to be your greatest victory yet. And thats Proof of a Hero. The anthem that makes every MH player feel invincible, that this is going to be a victory celebrated forever. I hope this context could help a little bit (not that I think it needs it, the song does a pretty great job by itself). I could talk about MH music forever. ^_^

This is a bunch of other melodies from throughout the series combined with the theme he had in the original Monster Hunter. It was pretty generic sounding back then but they made it work here by just going all in on the spectacle of it. The second phase is just an entirely new song and it's great, it's called "Limitless Courage."

Fatalis theme truly meant for a final boss. The vocals gives off a scary event vibes, like it was a song of despair and chaos. But when Proof of a Hero plays at the end, the battle turns the table in favor of the Hunter. The moment it plays you are not fighting the final boss but you became the final boss.
@Gameboy-kl8br
@Gameboy-kl8br Жыл бұрын
To explain the "Battle" and "Mount" themes in the song that's something that's tied to an in-game mechanic, which I suppose gives merit to the songs requiring more context to appreciate more fully. In Monster Hunter World one of the types of attacks you can use is classified as aerial attacks, most often accomplished by using nearby climbable walls or raised ledges to leap into the air and strike the monster while airborne. By using multiple aerial attacks you can manage to grapple onto the monster and repeatedly attack it while it tries to shake you off. When attached to the monster the music will shift from the "Battle" theme to "Mount" theme, this most often made to stand out with the addition of a percussion section on top of the regular theme. This is typically known to be sick as hell among fans, and it's worth noting another monster Zinogre who's particularly known for having a mount theme that not only adds the standard percussion instruments but also a metal guitar.

Welcome to the end of the world, yet also the rise of a true hero’s proof. Fatalis in Monster Hunter always had a cult following. He was a superboss in the original, and while simple, he always returned as one of the hardest hitting monsters in the entire series every entry. When World launched, people figured we wouldn’t see him. Then Iceborne launched and people got a bit hopeful. Then, anniversary art for the 15th anniversary of the series dropped, showing him in all his glory, hidden in the back. Then, after some silence, a teaser was shown of an old world fleet heading somewhere forbidden, and characters from Iceborne on board… and we saw a tease of Fatalis’s famous home, Castle Schrade. After revealing him in full while still leaving a lot to be learned by the players, they revealed that very artwork was the reason they added him. To this day, Fatalis in Iceborne stands as the hardest boss in a Monster Hunter game, the most fair boss as well, and the most beloved. A sendoff not just to Iceborne, but to every game before, and to look ever happier at the future of the series. Most may never beat him, or even unlock him. But that only adds to the status he holds.

I can definitely understand the take of "If you dont play it you wont GET IT as much as much as someone who has experienced it". Also the main themes that I can think of that can match this track are all from Frontier which was a JP only MMO version of MH we never got. So many extremely amazing tracks that a large chunk of the MH community have no idea exists. One of my Favorites from it is Disufiora's track where it literally whispers "Pray" in your ears in the track, which immediately lets you know you've fucked up. Funny enough it's also a monster with multiple phases (in face a lot of the really good frontier tracks are from monsters that just refuse to die and have multiple phases).

Fatalis, is one of the only actual dragons in monster hunter. Wyverns sure, but actual four legs and wings dragons there's like 7 and three of them is fatalis and it's subspecies. While I have not fought fatalis in world videos of the hunts are quite intense, It's pin involves grabbing you and melting you into it's chest (that has melted parts from pervious hunters in it's scales in lore). It has fireballs and massive flamethrowers, and it's physicals attacks. A few times it will fly up and attempt to melt the entire area and if you don't hide behind pieces of metal debris (that do start to glow and melt entirely) you die. When phase two starts it's chest starts to glow and parts start to melt off from the heat. Mounting is when you jump on a monster and attempt to rodeo it down to the ground. Proof of a hero is basically the we got this song, it plays during the final parts of some of the biggest hunts in any given game. Have a good existence all.

There are waaaay more dragons - actual dragons, not wyverns - than the number you gave there... You're probably thinking about the forbidden monsters, which were monsters* that Capcom would go out of their way to not mention, even in strategy guides and stuff. That's because these monsters were supposed to be legends in the lore and a suprise to the players. However, as the years went by, information just started to spread way too fast. So this concept of forbidden monsters started to make less sense. *All of them classifiedd as Elder Dragons, although one of them doesn't have wings.

The theme that start at 17:37 is actually Proof of the Hero, the theme of the series as a whole and the first main theme of the first ever Monster Hunter game, which Fatalis originates from. That footage your seeing isn't from MonHunt World but from the first Monster Hunter and a common, and totally welcome, motif of the series is to have Proof of the Hero play in the final phase of major story relevant final bosses to hypes the Hunter up, usually a much smoother transition than what you had there. There's a joke among the community that the song alone can create a sort of IRL buff to players and I can't exactly disprove it simply because of the many times the moral boost from the songs had helped me through

"Proof of a Hero" is one of the longest standing recurring themes in the series. It's grand and victorious theme is for all intents the Hunter's theme rather than any monster's. So again this being a case where it does need to be heard within context to feel the same effect. However, you can imagine the feeling of battling tooth and claw with the monstrous behemoth Fatalis who's theme is all but oppressive and then as the monster begins to weaken you hear the choir fade as the monster's theme stops playing and your own rallying cry of the glory of the hunt begins.

The tension of the song, especially at the start, really captures the desperate nature of the fight: you're fighting a dragon that has razed civilizations to the ground, and everyone in your party has to make split-second decisions to avoid catastrophic damage and strike hard in tiny openings. In other words, every hunter present needs to be a Big Damn Hero -- hence the progression from the otherworldly chaos of the early phases to the more human and heroic melodies of the later phases. Building OP armor about of Fatalis' hide was nice, but the sheer thrill of nailing him with a siege weapon and emerging victorious from the most harrowing multiplayer battle I've ever fought is the real reward I'll remember for ages.

Fatalis being the ultimate final update boss of World was such an unforgettable experience for me as my first MH game and just gaming in general. Throughout your countless hunts of insane dragons, you finally fight Fatalis who's just a straight classical European based dragon that breaths fire. No gimmicks other than being one of the hardest fights in the game, something you have to fight tooth and nail with to the very last minute (they made it even harder by cutting down the hunting time to 30 minutes instead of the usual 50). If you manage to get to the last phase of the battle, Fatalis' theme stops and Proof of A Hero plays and its one of the most epic things ever! Another interesting thing about Fatalis as well is that it's noted as the only elder dragon who truly hates humans in comparison to the other monsters you fight which are just doing what animals do, and having that thought while fighting him really adds the weight and fear to it. I kinda wish we would have gameplay footage to go along with it because monster hunter fights are truly something else! Also it's too bad you didn't get to hear the version with the proper ending when it doesn't get interrupted by "Proof of A Hero" (or maybe you did after and if so disregard this 😂)

Probably the single greatest boss fight in all my years of playing games. Just simply the fact of how long and intricate the fight is and that fact it took me and a group of three friends who played through the whole game together about 3 weeks of constant pushing the fight to finally down him with less then a minute left on the timer and one cart left. When we finally got the cutscene of slaying Fatalis all 4 of us cheered for about 5 minute straight and we even poured a drink over chat and toasted to our accomplishment. I will never forget the feeling this fight and overcoming it gave me and it was peak gaming in my opinion especially when the OG Monster Hunter theme drops when he’s about to die. Intimidation is the correct word to use to describe Fatalis. 🤣 Fatalis was in fact a big deal when it was revealed he'd be in the game, the game itself describes it as fighting history itself. Fatalis is known as a Black Dragon which are the most powerful known dragons in the world of the games. This music definitely sets the tone of the Fight because it is tough! It's arguably the toughest fight in the game and even once you collect all his gear he's *still* difficult. But it's actually a lot of fun, don't get me wrong. Mount themes relate to the feature of being able to temporarily mount monsters in the game. When you do you're given the opportunity to tire out the monster and deal some damage to them. A small detail of mounting them changes their theme, even if only slightly, and changes back to normal when the mounting sequence is done. The ending of the medley, Proof of a Hero, plays after a certain moment in the fight. Proof of a Hero is the main theme of the series, so the moment you've weakened this tough and intimidating legacy dragon and the main theme of the series starts playing you start feeling the hype build up inside you. 😁 I always appreciate the MonHun reactions, but I will agree that it's probably better to have the full experience with the themes to fully appreciate them. 😅

So fatalis is the final boss of monster hunter 1, and when you hit fatalis with the siege weapon known as the dragonator near the end of the fight in monster hunter world, it plays the monster hunter franchise theme "proof of a hero". So at the end there what you heard was an homage to the original monster hunter and how far the franchise has come. It's a tradition in the games to play that music during the final phase of the final boss, and this time instead of having a new remix, they used the original one.

Fatalis is THE final boss monster of the franchise and is probably the only true dragon in Monster Hunter unlike the other monsters which are wyverns and the like. His theme and fight in Monster Hunter World Iceborne had been remade entirely from what they had used since the first generation due to the engine they used for world. His fight in Iceborne really set the fear of fighting a spiritually eternal dragon that defies history and knows nothing but rage, while also being a better dark souls dragon fight.

This video is fanmade, as any other monster hunter World medleys, though i believe they are the best way to experience the music as it includes it 2 variations: chase (which is not on here cause of the fight that it is) and mount. Pretty well edited, but the content in them are all official, as is the Proof of a Hero which *is* is the Fatalis fight at the end Though the footage for it was 100% a wink at the fans by the poster

Monster Hunter, I see the music talked about frequently and I have a friend who really loves the music. I'm mostly neutral on what I've heard, not swaying one way or the other. The choir makes me think there's something grand and huge. This theme sounds dangerous, I like how little heroic bits come out every once and awhile. It makes me think the main character turns the tide of battle for a second. Lots of intensity in this song, I like the ticking sound that comes up in phase 2 it makes me think there's a timer to your death. The third phase is lower intensity which makes me curious what the context is, maybe the rage in the monster has died down for a moment. I like the section is phase 3 the most, great stuff. The end definitely gives me victory vibes, like the pressure of fighting a giant dragon is off of your back and you overcame it. A fine song but it overall didn't do anything for me, it's composed immaculately and everything sounds great sonically. It just doesn't do much for me, I would love this live. I would pay money to hear this with an orchestra irl.

Fatalis was the final big update for Monster Hunter World, he’s in fact THAT Dragon. When it came out. Imagine fighting for 20+ min. with the fact that this dragon can one shot or leave you low Hp with 90% of his attacks. It’s a very intense fight, You hit Fatalis with the Dragonator (big 2 spike map weapon). Then the proof of a hero kicks in… brother…. I GOT +200% IN ATTACK AND -200% IN DEFENSE ! The wave of nostalgia hits hard ! You’ll find yourself screaming: THIS IS MONSTER HUNTER !!! It’s amazing because it catches you off-guard, you’re deep in the fight with the tense music, you land a big hit,Proof a Hero kicks in,Fatalis recovers and fly up to SCORCH THE ENTIRE BATTLEFIELD ! The proof of a Hero makes this fight worth it everytime.

"did I go back in time?" yes... yes you did, and during that fight it was glorious, Fatalis was the final and hardest fight in the original monster hunter, so after you hit him with dragonator and have in in the corner, it plays the ORIGINAL Proof of a Hero (every monster hunter has it's own version of proof of a hero), mounting themes when the drums comes in is because you are riding the monster, sitting on top of it, stabbing it in the back and trying to take it down as it tries to shake you off, MH themes are somewhat dynamic, they will usually have a "Mount", "Chase" and sometimes "Enrage" versions of the themes, not a lot of MH songs I put on par with this, the only ones that come to mind are Safi-jiva and Kulve Taroth full themes

So mounting in MHW is from a jump attack. Sometimes if you do one you can land on the monster, forcing it to try to buck you off. This will tire the monster out and let you knock it down. So there's mount variants of battle music. For fatalis, one for each phase since the music changes. As for proof of a hero, that is like... the main motif of monster hunter. So it's kind of symbolic of the hunters music. It only plays in the last 10 minutes of the fight, when a weapon called the dragonator becomes usable. As for Fatalis being special, so in monster hunter, monsters are categorized by their biology. The big special ones are called elder dragons. Not every elder dragon looks like a dragon per se, but all elder dragons are super strong, so much so that they can change the very ecology of a land if they decide to stay there. Amongst elder dragons is a special class. The black dragon. Black dragons tend to look like actual dragons, and tend to also actually have black scales. Black dragons are huge issues because they're so strong that they can pose a threat to mankind as a whole. Fatalis is one such black dragon, and famous for destroying an entire kingdom in a single night.

For a bit of story about fatalis. Fatalis is classified as a black dragon. Essentially beings in the MH universe that are borderline unnatural to the rules of the world. Fatalis itself is known for its pure hatred for anything human. Killing more for sport than actual survival so much so many other apex predators avoid its area. Speaking of the area castle schrade is where you fight it. It was once known for being one of the greatest cities in the old world compared to it’s neighbors. Yet despite that it practically vanished overnight without any warning. You can put two and two together. There is more such as the rumors of the armor, but that is a whole other can of worms

Fatalis has such a legacy status in Monster Hunter, the very first secret final boss, a test that required the strength and cooperation of your party to take down the beast. Unfortunately a battle that despite lore significance never really reached its true potential, and the appreciation for Fatalis relied more on his legacy and history, rather than for its gameplay which was even lackluster compared to other fights with even lesser monsters, with time Fatalis just seemed to be the old man in the corner that was invited over a few times but couldn't keep up with the more impressive fights of other monsters and the skill of hunters in the new games. HOWEVER, at the very last stretch of Monster Hunter World Iceborne, the devs brought back Fatalis after seeing the community's hype and theorizing of its possible return, and they brought him back as a TRUE TEST of skill and endurance: The final boss fight to rival all boss fights in the series, where the lore and gameplay finally match each other. Fatalis' fight was revisited, improved and made to be the toughest challenge the devs had put out to this day in the whole franchise, with moves that easily wiped over half of your Hp, alarmingly fast attacks that kept you always moving, and even an in-game timer that forced you to *keep up* with Fatalis, no stalling for opportunities or spamming healing over a long time to make up for your mistakes. To defeat Fatalis you had to learn him, strategize, be smart and skillful with your attacks and never let down the tempo, otherwise you allow the impending doom to happen in-story, and your defeat as a player. It algo goes to show that for a live-service game, with the entire playerbase trying and trying to beat him, no player had seemingly been able to defeat him and have proof of it over the first days after the update came out, not even the top speedrunners could report their victory in the first two days. It added to his legacy as all-powerful humanity-ending monster in the game's story, and even caused backlash over a section of players who were not able to beat him, and demanded for the fight to be nerfed. Alas, the fight remained unchanged, and slowly but surely people would reach the seemingly impossible summit, and those who did would share tips, join other hunters online to help them defeat him, almost akin to the Hunter Guilds in-game, comrades working together to surpass the challenge and save humanity from the dreaded Black Dragon.

"No nice melody, pure destruction" This is entirely Fatalis captured, legends surrounding Fatalis in the games lore tell of a dragon so intelligent it makes a mockery of hunters and the armour they craft from other monster's by melding hunters to its own hide with its intense flames. While it's a legend and isn't exactly founded, those myths that surround Fatalis - in lore and just in the community - solidify Fatalis as King above all. Couldn't think of a better composition to capture the dread of facing the creature. The different themes with phasees and the mount themes, basically, when you get on the back of a monster and try to knock it down the music changes to a different version. Every Monster Hunter game will cap off its end boss with Proof of a Hero, the footage was basically the intro cutscene of the first Monster Hunter game where Fatalis was first introduced (which is really what the Fatalis version is a callback to, and the Fatalis theme overall). Proof of a Hero starts playing at around... 15% health for Fatalis so you know you're nearing the end of the fight. You just need that little push. It's one of my favourite things when I hit the end boss, I'm craving that moment where Proof of a Hero kicks in.

So here's the lore of fatalis: the black dragon, the god of monsters, mankind's twilight, this dragon is extremely malicious, dangerous and aggressive. It has giant amounts of fire that it can shoot out of its mouth as either fireballs or as a flame breath at any moment. The fire is extremely hot, reaching a temperature hotter than the surface of the sun (yes, one guy actually calculated this) Fatalis is also extremely aggressive towards humans and sometimes even melts hunters alive onto its chest with its giant heat. It even once destroyed an entire kingdom and obliterated every single living being in it in a single night with its fire and strenght. It currently lives in the kingdom's destroyed castle. It's extremely feared and almost none dare to challenge it. It can easily instantly vaporize anyone with its fire. And it's scales are far more durable than even diamond and its hide is almost completely impossible to pierce. Even in-game this fight is extremely brutal, requiring huge skills to even reach phase two, which is even more difficult. And the mount themes play when you go on the monster by doing jump attacks on it. And for proof of a hero, it's MH's main theme and almost always plays during all the games' final bosses' final phases. Most games have their own versions of it, but the one that plays during fatalis' final phase is the original version from the very first MH.

since most of the comments are about the gameplay, lets talk a little about fatalis as a character. There are actually little tid bits of lore for each monster (most of the time being the older ones) and Fatalis seems to be one that has a short but cool one. Fatalis is a dragon of pure hatred for humanity. Something that could end up destroying everything you've known ALONE. To challenge one is not only a hunter's dream, but a hunter's nightmare as its more dangerous to fight than almost any other elder dragon in the game's histories to my knowledge. And black fatalis is the default. In the older games, there are harder versions of it such as the White Fatalis. TLDR: Fatalis can and would run everyone's fade so you gotta get rid of him before he gets rid of everyone else. thats most of what I know about this one

ok so monster hunter is often memed as the "game that's just 50 minute long bosses" fatalis is the baddest bad bastard of all of them, the fight is so long there's bases around the area where you escape to, resupply and return to the fight without it ever pausing, it is a long, hard fight, and after about 30 minutes of just barely surviving it, you hit fatalis hard enough, injure his head damaging his ability to breathe fire, and go in for the kill, that's when 17:40 happens, it is the og theme for the first game, and if you're a series veteran it fucking hits

Fatalis is a monster among monsters in lore. It is canonically immortal, as the armor you make out of it will slowly take over your mind and fuse with your skin to make another fatalis. It's also one of the smartest as it will press hunters against itself then superheat its skin to melt their armor onto itself for extra protection. It can also control the orbit of celestial bodies with its emotions, the red fatalis is able to call down meteors with pure rage and killing intent. It's basically the closest thing to monster God

Ok so basically this whole thing is one gigant hommage to the first Monster Hunter game. Fatalis was originally the final boss of that game and has been something of an optional endgame boss since then. His fight was pretty basic back then he was tanky as fuck and hit like a truck but he was also sluggish so you could dodge everything he did rather easily. In the old games the fight was set up as a sort of secret mission. you are sent on a mission to go to the ruins of "Castle Shrade" and discretely take out the Fatalis, you eather win and no one will ever know that Fatalis was more than a Fairy tale, or you fail and no one will ever hear of what happened to you. In World they brought him back in the very last post Launch update. Fatalis is pretty much the hardest fight in the entire game, rediculous damage and health, moves that are actually really hard to dodge and his Quest has a 30 minute timer, when dealing with a monster that has this much health and leaves only small openings for attacks then these 30 minutes are pretty low (for context every other quest usually has a 50 minute timer and if you got decent equipment youll usually kill/subdue a monster in less than 15 minutes). In World the Fight is set up as a large scale siege with hunters from all over the world being called to "Castle Shrade" to take on a mysterious threat, they only learn about what is going on when its allready to late to turn back. Youre ship is one of the first to arrive, beginning to prepare siege weaponry and or repair what weaponry is allready present at the castle. Then Fatalis appears youre woefully underprepared, the battlefield is limited by leftover barricades and its only you and one other elite hunter against this monstrosity. As the battle goes on Fatalises attacks keep getting stronger the flame burns away old strucktures and eventually reinforcements arrive, its an up and down of fear and hope untill you kill Fatalis or die trying. Fatalis theme evolved similarly to this: The old one was just the basic fight theme for the "Forest and Hills" map only with added vocals. If you managed to hit Fatalis with the "Dragonator" then "Proof of a Hero" Monster Hunter 1s main theme would start playing (a Dragonstor is a giant spinning Spear that can be shot out of a wall in the arena and has a pretty big cooldown so it can only be used once or twice per fight). This music switch when a monster is hit with a giant siege weapon would go on to be used in many of the big climactic spectacle fights. In World they remade his theme Phase 1 is still based on the "Forest and Hills" theme but it has references to "Kakoto Village" and a few others mixed into it (Kakoto was the hub for Monster Hunter 1). The second phase theme is mostly new but it has elements of the first phase and Monster Hunter Worlds main theme "Stars at our Backs", giving a more hopefull feel as the rest of your fleet arrives to provide assistance. Finally the original MH1 version of "Proof of a Hero" plays not any of the new versions, they specifically picked the original to remind players of where this series started. Btw Fatalis looks kinda like a typical European Fantasy Dragon, this is rather uncharacteristic of monster hunter creature design, its meant to make him look off in a way, the world of monster hunter is by no means "realistic" but they have a certain degree of "realism", there is no such thing as magic in monster hunter and creatures in it generally at least somewhat adhere to biology , most of the creatures look more like exagurated animals and even the most outlandish looking ones have a justification for looking this way and having the abilitys that they do. So to see a genuine oldschool fantasy dragon with six limbs and a serpentine body is really weird (i think only Fatalis and Safi'Jiiva look this way and its often pointet out how unnatural they are, Safi is basically an alien and Fatalis is spoken of like its a sort of bogeyman). Theres also a lot of lore arround Fatalis and Creatures related to it (Alatreon the Glistening Black Dragon and Dire Miralis the Smelting Black Dragon) and they are often treated like Gods, with some people worshipping them, in fear of their unexplainable might. Monster Hunter has a lot more to offer id recommend the Magala Medley or Dire Miralises theme.

There's a KZbin comment from the theme video itself sums both the music and Fatalis pretty well in my opinion. From CompedyCakeMine: "Phase 1: Fearsome and foreboding. You are going against the legend itself: Fatalis. The monster of myth. The monster who razed a kingdom in a single night. Pray that your mission is successful. Or at the very least, pray that your death will be quick. Phase 2: The fierce battle. You have done well to last this long. But all you have done is merely survive. The fiercest battle of your life still lies before you. And you are far from done. Phase 3: Proof of a hero. You have done what an entire army could not: you have held your own against Fatalis, proving that this monster of myth can be beaten. You have given the people a glimmer of hope, hope that wasn't present on that fateful night at Castle Schrade, for you are the Sapphire Star, the very symbol of hope. And this is a testament to your strength. To your courage. This is your proof of a hero."

At least this was only 18 minutes long. For us who did not watch guides or anything, this fight took, for certainly, between 3 hours and *some have yet* to defeat this...being... For me it took 3 days! This long boy was menace! Never feeling unfair but there was always those mistakes you make when you have not memorized its movement patterns and then there are just those unlucky times. Fatalis strongest attacks can either 1 or 2 shot kill you depending on your health, armor and fire resistances. Of course this beast every now and then flies into air and bathes whole area in cool flames that, after 6 seconds, instantly turn you into ash if you haven't escaped them. Metals meant to protect against fire based monsters are turned into metallic puddle by this fiends fire that leave even wet stone burning for 6 second. Defeating Fatalis feels so great after all that work and effort!🤩

For those who want to know, here is some information from Fatalis, it's a bit long so please bear with me 😅. Fatalis is at the top of the foodchain, it is the most powerfull and evil creature in the MH world. Fatalis destroyed an ancient and very advanced kigndom name Castle Shrade, and you fight Fatalis in the remains of said Kingdom. Fatalis has so much hatred for humanity that it bites onto humans and then he melts them onto his skin as a mockery towards the hunters. When you look at the information of it's armor it says that the armor itself is still alive, and in game it is probably true, in MHW the eyes in it's equipment follows the camera. It is said that the Fatalis armor will corrupt it's user, and after a certain amount of time, Fatalis will regenerate and crush the hunter within itself. Fatalis is also rumored that it comes from another dimension. The one in the video is the weakest out of it's three versions. The Black Fatalis is the normal one. The Crimson Fatalis is second strongest and it can summon meteors. White Fatalis is the absolute pinnacle of power and dread in the world, it also flies out of a wormhole before you fight it, wich is why people think Fatalis is an invader from another dimension.

That final phase theme, Proof of a Hero, came from the first Monster Hunter game back in 2004. It's both the main theme of the first generation of games (that recurs throughout the series in various versions), and the music reserved for a select few endgame hunts when you land a decisive blow. I'm talking, more often than not, *the* final bosses of the games. It's hard to describe exactly how it feels to be struggling to survive against these things, brain firing on all cylinders attempting to learn the complex patterns of the monsters attacks, all the while imposing music is just blaring in your ears. It's 40 minutes into this 50 minute hunt, you've just seen the "10 minutes left timer" pop up. It shouldn't matter though, because you already ran out of healing items 8 minutes ago. You've fainted twice now, giving just one more chance to close out the hunt. In a last ditch effort, you lure the monster over to the Dragonator contraption: a medieval looking tool in which at the pulling of a lever, it launches a giant metal spike the length of anywhere from a car to a school bus, directly into your foe. You time it just right, and it connects. Then the music switches.

A little extra info: - 50 minute hunts are pretty exhausting. Many of the older MH games were for portable consoles like the PSP and 3DS, so co-op play locally and online was highly encouraged. The offline single player gameplay was scaled to be comfortable for just one player, whereas the multiplayer accessible content (which was the majority of the content) was scaled for multiple people. Adaptive scaling based on player count wasn't a thing until World. Don't have a group of buddies to play with? Get good lol - Some estimates for time sink into any given quest, think 5-10 minute hunts for groups of 4 random people, 10-15 minute hunts for someone in single player content or for a player who's good at the game. Older MH games had stricter scaling so, think 20-30 minutes for a good player doing well in a hunt scaled for multiplayer. So when you factor in the highest tiers of difficulty in the game all at once (highest quest ranking, most dangerous monster, etc.), with a player being new to one of these monsters and needing to learn them for the first time, all while its been designed numerically to challenge a group of people, let alone one person? Yeah, it can mean 50 minutes of concentration. I've had hands-shaking, pits-sweating hunts that go within 10 seconds of that timer before quest clear. And it feels beyond fucking incredible to win. (Don't get me wrong though, Monster Hunter is one of the best co-op games out there, there's nothing wrong with grabbing a few buddies or solo queueing into a hub with randoms and just grinding through the game that way. Would highly recommend) - Before anyone mentions, MHWorld Iceborne Fatalis does have a 30 minute timer, not 50. 99% of the quests in a Monster Hunter game have 50 minute timers, mostly because in the very old entries the importance of gathering items out in the field was enough to warrant the extra time spent in a hunt, like picking mushrooms, mining ore, grabbing plants, catching bugs, fishing, then combining those materials into potions buffs and barrel bombs, etc. etc. Fatalis' timer only heightens the tension since, I'd say the vast majority of players are going to time out attempting to beat this thing. - And, Fatalis was the final boss of the first Monster Hunter game. It returns the most out of any other final boss and in Iceborne (Monster Hunter World's DLC expansion), it was poetic fanservice really. It came out in the last big update to the game, it's arguably the hardest monster, giving the best gear in the game bar none, powercrept to hell. - The version of Proof of a Hero that plays was the Lao Shan Lung battle version, which came from Monster Hunter 1 (old ass game, 2004). Lao Shan Lung was this Godzilla-sized Elder Dragon that was on a path set to walk through your village. You chase it through this man-made fortification built in a canyon it was passing through, up until it reaches the final gate before all is lost. Along that gate, is a Dragonator. That is the first instance of Proof of a Hero ever playing outside of a menu or a cutscene. They returned that exact version for MHW Iceborne Fatalis, as a callback. It plays for the Dragonator landing (and you better not miss lol, it's a buttload of damage that is necessary for most players to win in 30 minutes), just like with Lao Shan. - Monster Hunter is also a game that players can get extremely invested into. It's grind heavy, with a pretty addictive gameplay loop. Hunt monsters, carve them for scales, claws, hide, horns, etc., visit the blacksmith to craft you new weapons and armor in the aesthetic of the monster you hunted, unlock more monsters, hunt those larger cooler monsters. And with the RNG involved, and some drops being very, very rare (1% droprate), but the game is fuuuun.... it's not at all uncommon to see players with 1000+ hours in just one MH game. Especially if they love the multiplayer experience and will just chill online and hunt with friends for the sake of it. Fatalis in World Iceborne is the final challenge at the end of potentially a very, very long journey. Hard to believe it's been a few years since...

Okay wait, one slight correction to what I wrote: vast majority of players will DIE attempting to beat Fatalis lol. You'd think the game wouldn't kick your ass if the hunts last upwards of 10 minutes long, but once you're out of the Low Rank quests you can and will die within seconds of attacking a monster if you don't know your fundamentals. Iceborne Fatalis especially, it's fucking cracked. I had to white knuckle grip my controller the first few clears of that thing, took me hours of attempts before I slayed Iceborne Fatalis even once

Oh yes, the ONLY monster that actually enjoys killing humans out of pure hatred for them.
