I've been quilting for years and am self-taught. I learned without the aid of computers and Pinterest or friends and family. I did already know how to sew and read clothing patterns. So I was a little shocked when Facebook came along, and I joined my first quilt-along; people expected you to follow their rules and methods for making a quilt. I am way more independent-minded and believe that if the results are the same at the end of the quilt, then it's a finished quilt and beautiful. I found your channel this morning and love your opinions. I have watched four videos so far and will watch the rest today. Please keep making more videos and sharing your opinions. I love hearing different thoughts and ideas. I've only been watching quilting videos on KZbin for the last year, and they all seem to be the same. Your video is different and unique! Thank you for being you!

As a long arm quilter, I love that tip on joining backing pieces. And your explanation on why it is important to have the edges even.

Thanks for sharing. After struggling to teach myself to quilt; I finally figured out the tip to leave the selvages on the strips when making binding. Oh how straight my bindings became. That is a great tip, I wish I would have found it 2 years ago when I began quilting. Please keep giving experienced methods that improve results. They are appreciated.

Love the tip about leaving on the selvages on a pieced backing. Thanks. Also, will look at panels more closely from now on.

Blocks on Point! It is a way to get 40% more real estate. Now I'm opinionated too. I think that the most efficient way to join binding is to pre-miter them and then sew. (Ok I glue baste them first), CG small folded clipper is my go to, but any triangle ruler will due with proper alignment. I think that it gives the best visibility at the join and is easier to handle. Love your channel. There are good ways and better ways to do things, and it is always worth sharing one's opinion! I will enjoy seeing your future videos and will chime in!

I appreciate your ideas and suggestions. I have several panels with assorted blocks. I had not thought of putting them on point. I now think that is what I am going to do. I wish you had demonstrated how you bordered your set in triangles, but I guess I should just border the square and then cut it in half. I don’t know yet if that would make a lot of seams coming together.

If you cut off the selvage first, before you cut anything, you are being most efficient. Some quilters use the selvages to make quilts or pincushions or decorative accents, and will be happy to receive these offerings.

Love the idea of setting panel squares on point. I'm going to pull out my panels and start one tomorrow. I also draw out my quilts when I am planning. Already use the selvages method when sewing binding strips so I can see where to aim. Good tip to mention. Thank you
