"Turn it until it sounds like it's gonna die". Damn. It really sounds like it is gonna die. One thing I really like about your videos is that you show the things that don'r go as planned. It makes the rest of us not feel so much like total idiots.

One thing to always keep in mind, your high speed mix can be altered by the setting on your low speed mix, as your engine feeds from both circuits on the high end. Carbs that don’t have an accelerator pump suffer tremendously from a mid adjusted low speed mix (most times, falling flat on their ass.) But even carbs with an accelerator pump, idle mixture is imperative. Good vid Angel!

Love the simple ways of the good old carb'ed bikes! Not that I have anything against fuel injection. I just prefer the older and simple ways of old bikes. Gives them character and such a voice as they sit and talk while idling. Loved the video and you can't beat a S&S carb in my opinion. Enjoy your summertime weather! Ride and stay safe in your beautiful B.C.! Peace!

Good morning Angel. Nice video. S&S carbs are great little mixers, they're so easy to work on. But I had to give up on the Super "E" on my Evo. There was nothing wrong with the carb, I did the machine work to install a Zippers kit. The burn on the plugs was good. The driveability was good. The only bad thing was fuel mileage. I switched to a Mikuni HSR 42 and gained 6 - 10 mpg with no real loss in performance. I'll give the S&S to my brother to run on his '83 FLH Shovelhead. Find a cool spot, I see ya got a heat wave going. At least it seems to cool down nicely in the evening out your way. We gotta deal with that used Mexican air here out east. The past few days here has been tough. Take care now.

Good morning 🌅, Angel, great work, on S S carb, I am a HSR 42/5 , 😂 Dude, My Deuce has passed the control techniques inspection, now all paperwork has been submitted, for registration of bike and new plates, Which is going to be a bit of a bomber as spec in the UK you can sometimes choose your own plates, Especially when going to purchase a new one, and on my plate, it had, LOUD AND PROUD , embossed into the plate around the outside,, not allowed to do that here, on my other bike it had, LEAN AND MEAN, 😂, I was going to go out today for a ride but it has been tipping it down, Stay safe keep up the great work, France.

@@RedRiderCanadaBC Good morning 🌅, I think so, I have all 4 of my bikes ended up with HSR 42, back in 1994/5 on my 1200 sportier was the first, on FXR 1340 that the original CV, then I put an Elderbrook, Quicksilver I think it was called, then I’ve ended up putting HSR 42 on it, one of my friends have been trying the S&S, and had problems with it, he also went over to HSR 42, I have never tried the S&S , The Mikuni I find very easy to setup, Especially if you’ve got access or can afford to go on a dino, and if you need to change the jets, it is quite easy, especially the main jet where you just remove the bottom nut off the bowl and you’ve got access to it straight away, Which I done on my previous deuce, From 2000, I’ve since found out that the deuce that I’ve now got , has had some work done on it. It’s got S&S geared driven cams and big bore kit from 1440 to 1550, The only thing I do not like is that it still got the original cam plate in it, which I will hopefully be changing over the winter months, As hopefully by then I’d have a problem with my roof sorted out, On my property, as I have found out that I’ve got to pay some money towards it, the roof itself is covered by insurance, but because my Roof has got asbestos tiles on it, I’ve got to put some money towards it to have them removed, and I will be short money, I think I’ve already told you that my bike is now had its control techniques test and it passed no problem at all, and all my paperwork now has been finally put together and sent in for registration of the bike for France, All I’ve got to pay for now is a license plate for the rear, not sure how much that is probably around 35 €40, oh dear I’ve just noticed that I’ve already told you in my first part of this message, message from old dude brain not functioning properly, and I was told that the test last for three years, back in the UK, you had to have it done every year, and this year in France was the first time you ever had to have done very strange, Just been watching a KZbin somebody put some information up about the government is enforcing a law on new vehicles that are being built by certain date will have a speed limit in control system in it even bikes, that once you have gone to the point of the speed limit and you want to try and go over the speed limit directly you start accelerating a warning light or some signal will come up to inform you that you are breaking the law, if you persist and try to go fast still, there will be something in the device that will shut the vehicle down, I believe this to be very, very dangerous, especially as it is mostly a lot safer to accelerate out away dangerous situation it is to break to try and avoid an accident, as I’ve done this quite a few times over the years, I even accelerate going past a vehicle that is going along slowly and yes sometimes it goes over the limit if you’re going past somebody and this automatically cuts in you could end up having a crash with the vehicle you’re trying to overtake or oncoming traffic, this is obviously big brother trying to control us and the way we live, our freedom is being taken away from us, Ride Safe and Free as the birds 🦅, France.

I cannot say that I miss the old carb-adjusting days; fuel injection is wonderful, although it fosters some laziness. On Friday I shall be off to Laguna Seca raceway in Monterey, CA. to spend some hang-out time with a young lady racer I help sponsor: Kayla Yaakov she rides for Rahal Ducati, is seventeen years old and is a hoot to watch. She reularly beats guys with as many years' experience as she's been alive! Don't post anything until I return on Sunday, ok? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
@chipmartin7608

Good luck to Kayla; I love watching her stuff. It was funny when she was little and would beat the adults because she could brake later and get on the gas earlier (in and out of turns) because of her small size and weight.

Yeah my shovelhead came with an S&S it just uses too much gas... Now maybe I'm a TV and it took me awhile to figure it out and I haven't fiddled with an S&S since well way before they had an accelerator pump... I put a basic Bendix carburetor on their yeah it's not quite as fast but it sure is better on gas and I like it... SU is also a good alternative.. that's what a lot of folks that I know went to because S&S at the time didn't have the accelerator pump.....

Rule: Always a hot engine. To begin with, the idle screw, then the screw of the mixture (air-fuel)- it is necessary to catch the "Slide", this is the work between decreasing and increasing engine speeds. The search for the ideal mixture is achieved by the level of the needle and the size of the "Jets" (everything is determined by the color of the carbon on the candle. Only after a full ride in different modes on the road, you will be able to determine the color of the candle). And then f ... k all these rules if you have a Kawasaki motorcycle with four Mikuni carburetors😂

Next Rebuild I will review it again - The idles I had increased from a 68 to a 102 . Oddly, I rebuilt Babes just before. Both exactly the same engines - Babe (81) and Beauty.(79). I hade to rebuild Babes last May as one of the 4 carbs ( diaphragm models ) parts got hosed. Rebuild was great - At 90 mph, available torque for clocking to 120 mph with no problem. Beauty right after in June, had an idle jet come loose. ( quick history - Beauty's Carbs I rebuilt, and she had run fine. I restored her after 30 + years asleep during shelter in place. I wanted a bike repair shop to replace the tires I got, and check my tune up and get her registered. I gave them $1000 and my bike. It took a month to get my bike back once making it clear they were headed to jail. ) Recently, when beauty's Carbs failed I discovered that the bike shop had replaced a lot of OEM parts with cheap replacements. I knew of other problems thay created mechanically, but they molested the Carbs as well. Now Beauty is running Great except does not have Babe's Mojo. Beauty will ride 90 MO\PH easily, but I used to take her to 120 easily when I was a kid. Also a dumb one at that - But I will rebuild once again, but recently completed 3 other days of engine work There are other tuning considerations as to why I up'd the jes - finally no back fire with straight thru headers and straight intake pods -
