But the thing is - most drummers don't realise how important they are for the feel of the kit. I once got a whole drum department of a store in Germany to like a kit they previously had really disliked (Pearl Redbox kit) just by changing the curves. From the factory the kit was just set up wrong. The staff were convinced I had installed new firmware and new sounds - it just felt THAT different. All by changing the velocity curves.

Great video Simon! Great explanation of all the different curves! I usually like the exponential curve on my snare and ride, then linear on everything else.

If i want a more natural or close to the acoustic sounds, which curve works best?

Its not that simple. It depends on many, many things - how tired your ears are, whether you want it to sound like it has been processed through microphones, what you want the virtual room that you 'drum kit' is set up in to sound like, and many, many other things. Ears and microphones hear sounds very differently - the human ear can adjust much quicker to loud or quiet sounds. My advice is pick the curve which sounds best to you for each pad, and each pad might have a different curve. Make it sound like you are listening to your drums on a high quality audio system.
