This was an unplanned video. The volume is not as loud as I might have desired.
I was at the range to practice today and it began to rain. As I was planning to shoot paper there was not much chance the targets would hold up to the rain. So, I used the chance to address a couple people’s questions about how I set up and shoot my Air Arm TX200 MKIII off a bench. It is a spring air rifle and while they are known for being tame for a spring rifle, they are still a spring rifle.
Spring rifles are known to require some practice to shoot well, even from a bench. The artillery hold is the most common recommendation for a basic starting point. There are videos on this hold, and I would refer you to there for those wishing the artillery hold.
I do not shoot rifle off-hand very often. I shoot from a bench, or prone for the most part. I spent many months trying various systems and holds to figure out worked best for my rifle with my shooting style. I wanted to have a couple of options to work with when shooting. Everyone will find things that are a bit unique to their rig. This process led me to develop my bag system and a front rest system. This rig differs a great deal from my rimfire systems which tend to be more traditional.
There is nothing unique about these systems. I do not claim that these are the best, only or optimal way to shoot your rig. I think everyone will develop their own style over time. The video is just to provide some options to how I approach it in case it helps someone else.
