I'm showing my technique to lubricate a break barrel air rifle on the Weihrauch HW95 and Beeman R9 model.
This method can be applied to all spring piston powered break barrel air rifles.

I recently saw this video. It was informative. I just disassembled my 1983 Beeman R7. I found that after greasing my gun - the FPS was way low - and the grease was causing too much friction - so I just have used too much.. so I took it apart again (easy to do the 2nd time) and used 1 drip of 0-20 Mobile 1 synthetic oil on the piston and spring. This worked very well - the piston moved easily and the FPS came right back. The inner main tube that houses the spring / piston / trigger assembly was not as dirty as I thought it might have been, but the piston did have a little black oil / old lubrication that I removed which let it move more freely. Thanks for the video

Before doing any lubricating that spring needs seeing to.Only one end has had the last coil collapsed and flatted off.As it is it will be trying to dig itself in when it twists while cocking/releasing.

Great video. After seeing the work involved, I have neglected my break barrel BSA for over 17 years and only molykote the visible spring, trigger housing and a couple of silicone drops through the piston discharge port once. It has never dieseled or fired without a pellet in the chamber. It's still hitting paper targets like new.
@2lbsTrigrPull

A springer doesn't need to be lubed every few years. It can shoot for decades if it isn't neglected and rusting away in a moist barn. I don't recommend pouring any liquid into the transfer port. Once properly lubed no maintenance is required unless a seal or the spring breaks.

As long as it performs satisfactory, I still don't want to dismantle the gun to see the seal or inner works.

I put moly grease (abit too thick I think) and about 5 drops of zddp additive on my internals. First 7 shots were bad detonation and I was very worried. But after about 10 shots it settled down to a + or - variation of 25 feet per second and only a light amount of dieseling and light smoke in barrel after a shot. Hopefully it wasn't too hard on the rifle and it continues to improve even more.

the springs from the factory are said to be finished right at both ends now after a load of complants, your rifle might have been a early one but it has the latest piston seal fitted + cocking shoe and star breach + detent ? . iv never seen a hw95 with open sights for 8 years
@2lbsTrigrPull
@2lbsTrigrPull 10 жыл бұрын
I've already had HW rifles with orderly finished springs. For example the HW97k that I took apart and filmed. This HW95 (newer model than 97) has a chopped spring again. So my guess is, that they somehow screw up on some guns even on the newer ones. The HW95 in the video is the latest version with new cocking shoe, new seal design and spring retention for the cocking arm. The one in the video left the factory in 2013. So it's a new one. If you want a HW95 with open sights order one at Sportwaffen-Schneider.de Outside Germany iron sights are not as popular as in Germany. That's why German versions come with iron sights. I prefer iron sights too...

If you put grease into the chamber, you don't need grease on the piston anymore. So if you smear grease on the seal and piston, you can go in dry. The rifle doesn't care. Wouldn't try with a woman though, unless your piston is really well lubricated.

If you put grease down the piston bore before you put in the spring it'll smoke like a musket 🤣 Other than that it spits out what it doesn't need. Goes on but it doesn't help consistency. Best to just clean more regularly and brush on the minimum like this vid. After a few shots grease has gone everywhere it needs to. Some people bang on about dieseling and detonation. Dieseling is where the grease or oil in the chamber is turned to a mist, which actually makes it go pretty well, although your grouping scatters. Detonation is where that diesel ignites and detonates, which is an explosion risk with high compressing air rifles, no chance with a UK spec sub 12 ft lb though.

@@splash5974 it is when you leave the airgun a while and the piston dries up it gets higher fps. The fps drops to a constant fps reading and stays there after 10 shots or so. I always suggest putting buttons on the piston, but especially so if using thinner grease like that. If no buttons then it's also better to have the moly mixed in. Hi the specifications on the 00 grease are very high, it's performance under load is higher than the moly and it stays lubricating at a lower temperatures with less resistance, so the rifle stays on tune in very cold weather, it make my rifle very constant, which I like, try some you might just get to like it.

2lbsTrigrPull I have a Crosman Fury not the blackout.Its model CF1K77X, and the main spring is broken.I have called Crosman, and a replacement spring isn't available wtf ever.I have exhausted internet sources, and came up with nothing.Sorry to interrupt this thread for my own needs, but I don't know where else to go other than ppl who have knowledge of air rifles.Do you or anyone else know where I can get a replacement main spring for my Crosman Fury? Thanks.

riseabove Hi there, I don't own any Crosman rifles so I don't know the specs of the main spring Crosman rifles use. Maybe this one will work: www.airrifleheadquarters.com/catalog/item/251488/43410.htm It's a tuning spring that work in several Gamo and Chinese brand rifles which the Crosman is. You can get also help on this forum: www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?action=forum There are a lot of guys owning Crosman rifles and there's a forum specifically for Crosmans. That's also the reason why I buy good, well known air rifles domestically made. You get support and as much spare parts as you want. If you buy another air rifle, I recommend you get a Beeman/Weihrauch rifle. Maybe the HW50s or HW95. Those are great rifles. Accurate and you get the support and spare parts you need.

Good thing you know what you are doing and are able to show it off, but many of us are new to this and have no clue what you are doing or using here. Why not show how you take the rifle apart? Why not explain what you need to clean? Why not show what kind of lubricants are needed? Why not show how to put the rifle back together? if you are going to make a silent video, you might as well not bother!! Many of us rely on videos to help us learn to do things that are not readily available on the web. So, next time you make a video, try to keep all this in mind, people will either learn from you or be totally confused by what you are showing. Take time to EXPLAIN things instead of showing off how good you are, we are not here to be amazed by you!

Yeah I know, the internet is still difficult to understand for lazy people but from time to time you still have to use a few brain cells to navigate through and search for information. It already helps if you can read... To answer some of your questions: Why am I not showing how I am taking the rifle apart? Well, why didn't you watch this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYbbYauMrLqda5Y I EVEN PUT ANNOTATIONS IN THE FUCKING VIDEO TO ALL THE OTHER CORRESPONDING VIDEOS. Damn some people... Why am I not explaining what you need to clean? Well, haven't you watched the video? It's all in there and pretty much self explanatory. Do I need to tell you that you have to brush your teeth once in a while and how to do it? Open your toothpaste, take your toothbrush in your right or left hand, depending if you are left handed or right handed, now with the other hand take that toothpaste and navigate it carefully to your toothbrush, press carefully on the tube while you are over the bristels and make a backward movement very slowly to spread the paste evenly on the bristles............ yeah people are that dumb on the internet. Fuck, not only on the internet................. Why am I not showing what kind of lubricants are needed? Well, again, WHY HAVEN'T YOU WATCHED THE DAMN VIDEO AND READ WHAT YOU SEE? What do you see? I bet A BIG FUCKING YELLOW CAN with MoS2 grease... Why am I not showing how to put the rifle back together? WHY THE FUCK DON'T YOU READ, CLICK AND WATCH? kzbin.info/www/bejne/apeXfq19YrqieLM If are going to make stupid comments, you might as well not bother!! Many of us rely on comments to help us learn to do things that are not readily available on the web. So, next time you make a comment, try to keep all this in mind, people will either learn from you or be totally confused by what you are typing. Take time to READ things instead of showing off how stupid you are, we are not here to be amazed by you! Air rifles are not rocket science. If you are too stupid to handle a screwdriver, please, take the rifle back to the dealer and go watch TV or whatever...

2lbsTrigrPull fuckin' right! I agree. If some one doesn't know how to take apart the air gun, you should research it. If you got it apart and can't put it back together... well, you're stupid. This video is about how to take care of the air gun. It would say how to take it apart and put it back together again if that's what this video was for. By the way, great job with the video.

@@2lbsTrigrPull just wondering why so much .you don't need to put grease on the outside of trigger unit buddy it doesn't come in to contact with anything you just make the rifle diesel and shoot terrible mate 👍
@gibboj
@gibboj 10 жыл бұрын
that's a very poor finished spring end ,hope you sorted it out before rebuilding as it will never shoot good, as it will cut into the guide washer and not let the spring spin freely and will bind up
@2lbsTrigrPull
@2lbsTrigrPull 10 жыл бұрын
Exactly that happened. I replaced the spring with an OEM Weihrauch 5.5ft/lbs properly finished spring. I don't know why, but spare springs from HW are properly finished on both sides while they install junk in their guns...
