have@@ArmouryEnterprises have you put a vacuum gauge on the suction side to set nozzle and jet size ?

Hi Joe, I have a gauge ready to do some testing, but I have not yet had the time. I got it more to improve the brass style guns I make.

you can hook a vacuum gauge to your media inlet barb to help adjust the air jet spacing for max vacuum.

Hi watched your channel long time ago but back now glad your still into vapor blasting 👍 I finally bought a new sand blasting cabinet one question when I put it together would you use sealant or rubber gaskets where I bolt it together to make it water tight ? Many thanks in advance
@ArmouryEnterprises
@ArmouryEnterprises 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, Welcome back! I just used a silicon sealant to make the joints watertight. A little messy but much less fiddly than using gaskets. Thanks for watching!

I took my air needle to an engineer to get remade at 2.5mm. He said try a restrictor in the inlet first. He made some sleeves to restrict the inlet, the 2.5mm one works a treat

My main problem is water leaking out of the pedal that controls the air. I’ve tried 3 different check valves and they all leak
@ArmouryEnterprises
@ArmouryEnterprises 3 жыл бұрын
@@badmandayv How bad is the leak from the pedal? Is there media getting in or is it just water? What I am getting at is - is the water definitely coming from inside the cabinet and not just water building up from your compressor.
@badmandayv
@badmandayv 3 жыл бұрын
@@ArmouryEnterprises it’s about a cup full of water on the floor after about 5 mins of blasting. There’s no slurry in it and it seems to be too much to be from the compressor. The leak comes from inside the pedal 🤷‍♂️

Hi , i have a cheap ebay gun ... my problem is surging media from the gun ? it comes and goes its not picking up media at a standard flow ???
@ArmouryEnterprises
@ArmouryEnterprises Жыл бұрын
Hi, What sort of pick up are you using? Is it a straight tube, Tube within a tube, Two tubes side by side, or a metering valve? Metering valves work the best. Many tube pick ups don't allow the media to flow consistently. They will suck up all the media around the inlet tube and then nothing until the sand around the cavity collapses into the void and the cycle repeats.

thanks for the videos' manage to build a reasonable lockdown vapour blaster, have been experimenting with pumps, guns etc, will you be offering air jets for the ebay guns as I am currently using a sleeve bodge, all the best.

Hi Dorian, Not at this stage. Currently with the time it takes me to make them and then the shipping costs on top of it, the price I am able to do them for is too expensive. What I have been recommending is that people take the steel jet into their local engineering workshop and getting them to copy it using SS or Aluminium and install an o-ring groove. A small handful of people have done so and have had good results and at very good prices. Thanks for watching!

Whts the best gap on the nozzle and jet
@ArmouryEnterprises
@ArmouryEnterprises 2 жыл бұрын
I use between 4 and 6mm. A general rule of thumb is the larger the air jet and ceramic nozzle - the larger the gap. Thanks for watching!

Great video explaining the traps I should not go into :) I was looking at this gun and considering a 3-4mm Nozzle but that seems like a no-go. Do you have experience of the CFM requirements of the nozzle sizes in this gun when used in a cabinet for dry sandblasting? I have another gun with 6mm nozzle that works fine now with continues operation at 60-70psi with my two stage 10bar compressor with 100L tank. Not sure of the specs but it pulls about 4.5kW from the grid so maybe 5-5.5hp. I do have a lathe so I could make smaller nozzles but I don't have experience drilling that long concentric holes in it.. Was it hard to get it 100% in center in both ends or does it only matter in the exit end?
@ArmouryEnterprises
@ArmouryEnterprises Жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, When it comes to air consumption it's the the air jet that dictates cfm usage. Do you know what size the air jet is in the 6mm gun? When I make these jets, I usually drill from the back side with a larger diameter drill bit. Then I centre the small end before drilling through with the small drill. It should remain relatively centred at least long enough for it to be a steady jet. Cheers! Josh

@frankj86minim Жыл бұрын
@@ArmouryEnterprises I just went out and measured it. It's 3mm air nozzle and 6mm main. This also is the same dimensions as the clemco professional guns use (air nozzle half the size of main nozzle). Thank you for the tip. I'll try that when I make one. How long does the small dimension have to be to avoid turbulence or have other issues?
@ArmouryEnterprises
@ArmouryEnterprises Жыл бұрын
@@frankj86minim Is that ratio for dry blast guns? For a 3mm air jet, the smallest I would go is an 8mm ceramic. I usually make the depth of the air jet bore about 15mm. That seems to be a bit of a sweet spot for jet formation without too much flow restriction.

What are some sources for the more expensive guns?
@ArmouryEnterprises
@ArmouryEnterprises 3 жыл бұрын
Tacoma company in the US is probably the most commonly used of the more expensive guns in vapour blasting cabinets. Guyson, Trinco and ecoline are a handful of others. As for sources you probably need to do a google search to find local suppliers. Thanks for watching!
