what length body did you go with mate? im guessing it would be critical too what depth your piping would be beneath the surface for coring etc.
@theaussielawn
@theaussielawn Жыл бұрын
Just standard PGP ULTRAS which are about 20cm (8") and the popup sprays along the road are 15cm (6") basic rule of thumb keep your pipe work at least a full spade depth at a minimum mine are a slightly more than that to avoid any potently pipe damage down the track by coring or digging etc

Any reason for not going with the Hunter mp nozzles for the smaller sprayers? They use alot less water and more of the water ends up on the grass instead of the concrete. I prefer the rvan range from rainbird
@theaussielawn
@theaussielawn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, Yeah I chose the sprinkler nozzles I did for a number of reasons, The narrow strip lawn between the street and concrete path way measures just 1.4m wide the nozzle used sprays 1.5m where as the smallest MP sprays 1.8m - 4.2m. The other reason I used the red fixed nozzles in the other part is they are the closest match for precipitation to the narrow sprinklers. I have also personally found the reliability of the MP rotators questionable in the past. Finally as you saw in the video being on a hill we get quite a lot of wind, In my experience MP rotators don't cut it in the wind. Finally I needed sprinklers to roughly match output of the PGP ultras esp when i connect my EZflo unit to the system. Re the rainbird stuff Ive really only ever played around with the rainbird R50 (not even sure if they are made anymore) What do you prefer about the rainbird stuff mate?

Great video mate, can you explain why you chose the spray vs the rotator nozzles?
@theaussielawn
@theaussielawn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, Because Im running those prospray and various nozzles in one line I needed to find the closest possible matches when it comes to water outputs. E.g The MP rotator that best matches the area puts out far less water in the same time as the nozzles along the road. Plus I have heard and witnessed first hand reliability issues with some of the MP rotators also I personally find the spray from them is more easily wind effected.
@WOODZY_
@WOODZY_ 3 жыл бұрын
@@theaussielawn top job on the vid mate.👌 I’m currently running hunter rotators on two circuits front 140 squares mtrs and back also 140 square mtrs I experience first hand the wind factor with my back yard as the backyard backs onto a lagoon witch gets a lot of coastal wind. The way I’ve gotten around it is running a slightly more powerful nozzle like an mp2000 and set them to run at 3:30am before the wind kicks up from the coast. The front yard is protected from the wind and they run a treat. The kids love playing in the yard on a hot day trying to negotiate a path way through MP rotators. Great for both the grass and the kids. 🍻⛳️

Awesome video mate - very informative! Questioning my irrigation now. I'm tossing up between the Hunter Rotators or the Hunter SRM. I only have a flow rate at the mains (off the street) of approx 37L per minute and 30 (ish) PSI. Any suggestions for what you would use in this case? My lawn is a big rectangle (28m long x 7m wide). Thanks!
@theaussielawn
@theaussielawn 3 жыл бұрын
If i where you id divide it into 3 or 4 zones and run 2 sprinklers a zone or something along those lines. that way you can still get your lawn watered with the pressure and flow you have available to you. I did do a flow rate video last year which can help you do the calculations if need be

@theaussielawn
@theaussielawn 3 жыл бұрын
@@Mr_Mumble_PSN wow that is heavily restricted water flow you have. I would be inclined if possible to start by getting a tap or branch installed just past the water meter seems a lot of areas now have flow restrictors in place this may give you better flow and pressure (MAY) how big are your lawn areas your hoping to irrigate

@@Mr_Mumble_PSNone tip would be break it up into as many zones as you can even if you ran one sprinkler as a zone at a time . That would also give you perfect control over areas that might need slightly more water than others, Ive had systems in the past that ran one sprinkler per zone and it worked well . Just a thought
