Otoy’s licensing options continue to change since I originally recorded this video, so please review the network rendering limitations with your license. Also, be sure to use the same version for both the Standalone and DCC plug-in. 🚀

I agree it's a bit confusing here. So I had the lowest level octane subscription (studio) which limited you to 2 gpus, and I believe no network rendering. That has been apparently from my understanding transformed into studio+ (my live viewer says studio+ as well so I believe everyone is now in this basket). Now, we can do up to 10 gpu nodes via network rendering. I currently have 3 machines hooked up for example. Hope this helps

Is this why my computer is running slow at night? 😂 Great stuff Eric!

Thanks for this! I got a question: is it possible to use this method to render in c4d in my desktop machine while I continue working with c4d octane live viewport on my laptop?

Great video. It's very jarring and easy to see the "chunks" of the live viewer that my send machine is working on. Makes it hard to work with clients for they dont always understand. Is there any way for nodes to help render the image in unison with the main workstation so these dark squares dont flood the live viewer?

I have no "Network Rendering" section on the left side when I go into preferences for Octane Studio app.

After reviewing Octane Studio’s current description (home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/subscriptions/) they no longer allow network rendering with the studio license. I will update the video description accordingly

This video has been amazingly helpful. I currently have 1 PC for work and 9 PCs for rendering, cinema4d & DCC Plug-ins are installed on 1 PC for work and Can OctaneRender Enterpise Render Node be installed on 9 PCs for rendering + 1 PC for work? I thought I could make a pipeline with just one cinema4d and one OctaneRender Enterpise. I ask because I want to subscribe at a minimum cost.

Hi and thanks for watching! Based on the details of OctaneRender Studio+ (as of today) you can have up to 10 nodes for ~$24/mo. I'd go that route. Following similar steps as my video, you should be able to control your 9 nodes via your work PC. Good luck and happy rendering!

invalid version (12.00/1[2]) what this error mean? on both machine instaled same node, render plugin and studio... help please?

You may need to talk with OTOY support. If you have confirmed that there is only the same version (not older versions) running on each machine, I’m not sure what is wrong.

Can this work if you're on Octane X, and want to utilize the PC's in the network?

Got any tips for optimizing the data in your scene to render faster. I feel like every time I render it’s different amounts of data everytime. Sometimes it’s not much and my gpus kick on right away and sometimes they just sit there and take forever to download the scene data… per frame. It’s weird. Thank you!
@PixelPlanetStudios Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! A quick way to speed up scene data is to limit texture sizes to only what you need. 4k down to 2K or even 1K if it fits your needs. Additionally, using the scatter and render proxy objects for duplicates when you can, will save on size. Lastly, I would decide on which objects need to be refreshed from frame to frame. That way you only reload objects that are needed for animations. I hope this helps!

In my case I've connected my other machine and it says my network render nodes are running, yet sometimes I still get a "NetRender: 0/0" and "Slaves: 0" Any idea what the issue might be? Any tips for making the connection more stable?
@PixelPlanetStudios Жыл бұрын
That sounds like the nodes are running a different version than the primary machine
@dougiejones628 Жыл бұрын
@@PixelPlanetStudios Hmm, I confirmed that both versions are the same. Node authenticated and appears to be connected and running. Now it's showing "GPU:0/2 Slaves:1" and Mbs of data are actually moving, yet the display text is red and neither GPU is being used. It very occasionally worked where I finally got a "GPU:2/2" in green text, but it randomly stops working for reasons I can't figure.

@@dougiejones628 Octane Network Rendering send the data packed ( each frame ) to the slaves to render. You need an huge connection, and Lan wires of Cat7 at least. Octane is not a bad render but it's propiertys of scalability are awfulls. It's not thinked for studios or pipelines, only for freelancers with 4 4090 burning them houses out.
