OBS is incredible and this is one of the best and most relevant guides to using it that I've seen. Thanks! Another thing you can do instead of duplicating the Main Camera scene for titles and overlays: you can bring in it as a source. Source > Add > Scene. That way any changes you might make to your Main Camera scene will also be there on the overlay scenes.

Hello Cat, I can't describe how much I learn and benefit from your presentations. I have been teaching Economics to undergraduate students for over a quarter of a century now. But I must admit, I wish you had your youtube channel when I started my teaching and I received training from you as to how to teach so effectively. You are a born teacher - a sincere, honest and dedicated educator. I can't thank you enough dear, but I wish you a long, happy and healthy life to keep helping people the way you have been doing. God bless you!

I've never used the camera to be on video calls but that's about change for me and I have no idea how to use OBS or setting it all up until an hour ago. Now I've been looking to set up a virtual camera to cover my messy room as background lol, this video is literally next level. I'm glad I found it. Thanks, Cat! Still looking for a video on how to set/change backgrounds on zoom calls, going through your playlist

Thank you for making these. Being in the Public Access TV world, focused on recording Town Government Meetings I have probably been on and recorded 100's of zoom meetings, often 3 or 4 at the same time. We use OBS to record the meetings, but primarily stay in the background of the meetings. I have yet to be in any zoom meeting where people took advantage of these wonderful tips/tricks/presentation skills you are presenting. We are now looking at going to more of a hybrid model of some people in our "wired" meeting rooms, with others coming in through zoom so I was looking to expand my OBS knowledge beyond the screen capture/recording/streaming aspects. I have watched several, perhaps more technical KZbin channels on this topic, but you are by far the best at providing clear, simple, helpful direction. I really wish more of our committee\board members would use some of your suggestions - I for one am really tired of weird zoom backgrounds being the most interesting aspect to a meeting. Again, thank you for creating these.

Thank you for this excellent video! I am curious as to how to control what Zoom participants end up having on their screen. If they are in Gallery view, do they not end up with your virtual cam content and then everyone else on the call all around it? Is there any way to force all participants to only see your virtual cam feed?

Not sure if it's the newer version of OBS that added this issue, but when I am using virtual came to Zoom, switching between scenes in the scene window changes in OBS, but not in the zoom feed. To get it to change I have to go into the virtual camera set up and change the scene there. It works, but of course, it is an extra step and doesn't have a smooth transition. Any ideas? Also when I crop my main cam for a screen share, the crop exists when I kick back out to the full view scene as well.

Great video ... a quick question: If you want to show your PowerPoint images (from a 2nd monitor) in the Big Blue Rectangle rather than a Browser showing a website, which source would you choose? Would you have your PowerPoint set up on your 2nd monitor & pick Display Capture as the source because that would be what is showing on the 2nd monitor?
@CatMulvihill3 жыл бұрын
Either Display Capture or Window Capture would work. I would just test both out to see if you have a preference. If you decided to play the presentation in a window instead of the full second monitor, then you would want Window Capture (and then position the slides so you remove the task bar at the top). I have a video explaining how to play the PPT presentation in a window: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGmZXq2MiKuMfpo

This is a simple question-but how do I save the scenes as a collection so that I can create another collection?

You would create a new Scene Collection from the menu. Just name the one you are working on now and then start a new one with a new name.

If you mean bring in an iPad into OBS on Windows, then you could use NDI. I actually show an example of bringing in my iPad into OBS on Windows in my new NDI Set-Up for Beginners video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6XQZ4WdobBgd7s

@CatMulvihill3 жыл бұрын
@@jabakke It might be worth checking your PC's security to make sure OBS has permission to screen record (even through the iPad is coming in from an external source). You can also try what this OBS user shows by changing his network settings: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHLKfXhjnbtombc It seems to have worked for many people.
