Setting up the "Double Up" feature on the UE BOOM without using the UE BOOM App

If I could like this a billion times I would. I have been dying to be able to double up when paired to my computer, but even when I double up from my phone while my computer is the second device connected it would kick the second speaker off when I start playing from the computer. This worked! Thank you!

If you can't pair a UE BOOM with a device or can't double up a pair of UE BOOM speakers these TWO things are important and always solve the problem for me. 1) RESET the the UE BOOM or two UE BOOMs if your doubling up. Power on. Press the on/off button and the minus sign button simultaneously. Wait up to ten seconds for the percussive noise which signals a reset. The UE BOOM will power off. You have successfully reset. 2) Remove the UE BOOM or UE BOOMS from your device. You can do this in the bluetooth preferences however it works with your OS. Once your device is clear turn on your UE BOOMs and double up as described in the video above. This works for me. Every time.

I have two boom speakers, identical model and part numbers, only difference is S/N #’s. I reset both of them like you said, and pressed “forget this device” for both from my Bluetooth menu (iPhone 6s plus w/ latest available software). After then competently completing the procedure as described in this video, both Bluetooth button lights on the speakers do not turn to solid non blinking illumination but instead both continue to be rapidly flashing and sound only plays through one speaker. Have attempted multiple times, doesn’t work. All this after downloading a firmware update file from ultimate ears website which doesn’t launch.. only one speaker is able to use mobile app functions, the other says software update is needed, although all they offer is a dead end goose chase with poorly worded instructions and poor webpage functionality with crippling bugs when seeking to obtain said update.

You should mention that the FIRMWARE in the UE Booms needs to be up to date, and both UE booms need to have the same firmware version for this to work.

Unfortunatelly this does not work for the UE Boom Generation 1. However when I updated both Gen 1 UE Boom to the latest firmware I managed to permanently connect both in stereo mode via the Android App. Now I have to connect my laptop only with the first one and turn on the second and voila! - both boxes play the music from the laptop in stereo! 😊

@@jblfamily02 personally I do, but they never went too in depth without the app. You really do need the app for most thing & the future of these speaker is scary because of it :/ I got Boom 1, multible boom 2s & megablasts (1) I don’t like the newer one because they don’t have aux ports. I just got the hyperboom & it’s out of sinc with the other speakers when paired by bt or wired so I plan to return it. Plus same app problems But the boom 2 I would recomand for travels, megaboom 1 for home use & work :)

My daughter (now 6 yrs.) and I have taken a Jabra Solemate for the past 4 seasons to snowboard at Heavenly/Northstar/Kirkwood (Lake Tahoe). It's neatly attached externally in it's protective weather resistant bag on the back of my pack. We have our own soundtrack as we snowboard down the runs. We get tons of looks (good) and people trying to follow us and grooving to the jams as we go. Sadly the Solemate is a single speaker and will not allow any type of syncronizing between other speakers. When I read the UE Boom did this I IMMEDIATELY bought TWO. We will be testing them for a week straight from 19-25 Jan on the slopes. I'm sitting in my living room right now and comparing them to the Solemate. First I compared one UE Boom to the Solemate directly. The Solemate wins slightly as far as slightly better bass - however the UE Boom is noticeably louder without distortion - even at the highest volume setting. Next I compared TWO UE Boom's connected (using the method in this video). WOW!!!! I'm stoked. They are SOOOOO LOUD and in PERFECT SYNC. I simply cannot wait for our snowboarding trip to kick off the 2015 year! She will wear one on her pack, I will wear the other. My only complaint [and really, it's barely a complaint since I understand deep sounds need space for being created] is that I so wish the bass was deeper. Maybe you could make a UE Boom Subwoofer attachment that could be sync'd? That way there'd be an option for it if someone chose to carry it - believe me, I'd find a way to get it on my pack on the mountain!

This works so intermittently on two UE Megaboom speakers. I usually have to try for 20 minutes to get any success and sometimes I never do. And since the new update (installed June 6, 2015), doubling up doesn't work at all and I've tried for forty minutes. It doesn't work with the iPhone app method or the one listed in this video. This has been a very disappointing waste of a lot of time and I'm starting to regret purchasing these, much as I love the sound.

Customer Service was worthless. Came here... Thanks for the user input KZbin! Nothing worked UNTIL I updated the firmware (not sure if it was needed, but why not right). Also, be sure to connect each speaker separately (on/off one at a time) and give each speaker it's own name "boom 1, boom 2, etc in the app settings (if using the app). Otherwise the app did not recognize the speakers separately, even though my phone's bluetooth was connected to 2 speakers. Then, on the app, I was able to drag the 2nd speaker to the center of the screen and get them both synced. Phew... Rockin now! Hope you all have the same good luck.

It has trouble when the first speaker is connected to aux. This is essential if your audio is coming from anything other than a phone - like a mixing desk. Is the problem with the cable? It crackles on the second speaker only.

The crackling occurs when the volume exceeds a threshold. When I tested with bluetooth to the first speaker (not AUX) there was no crackling on second speaker. Maybe I need a nicer cable. Ive tried two cables already, though. Worst case scenario is to attach a bluetooth transmitter to mixing desk. I hope there are no problems with that or these UE speakers are useless to me.

The BTI-029 wireless bluetooth transmitter provides a less crackly solution at full volume on iPad 4 with UE Boom 2 connected via bluetooth top the BTI-029 and the Boom 2 connected via bluetooth to the Megaboom. There is still crackle on the second speaker (megaboom). Im not su-re wh-at ....goi-g on..

Less crackly solution: Pair the megaboom to the BTI-029, then transmit bluetooth from the Megaboom to the UE Boom 2. The UE Boom 2 must have a weaker bluetooth transmitter.

Solution: Reset BTI-029 by switching to RX mode turning off and on (Red and blue flashing light). Turn BTTI-029 off, switch to TX mode, turn on, press power button twice to enter pairing mode (fast blue flash). Then put UE Boom 2 into pairing mode within 1 metre of BTI-029. Wait up to 60 seconds for pairing. Lights on both devices will become stable when paired. Now, on UE Boom 2 (connected via bluetooth to BTI-029), quickly press bluetooth button and volume up at the same time and let go. UE Boom 2 will continue to play audio from BTI-029 signal and light will flash rapidly. Now, double press bluetooth button on Megaboom and it should double up after 30 seconds. Make sure the AUX cable is good. NOTE: After the UE speakers are powered off, they will not remember double up. You have to do the bt&+ on the transmit speaker and double bt on the receiver speaker again. UPDATE: Video and Audio does not sync and there is an insane amount of LAG if you do not use the AUX input! Thanks a million for this video. I connected two UE boom speakers to device supported on Windows Phone OS and it worked perfectly though sound was doubled up at the first time. I had to use UE app for Android on Samsung Galaxy and switched to stereo mode. After the next pairing to Windows Phone OS sound was stereophonic. Thank you once again.

When not using the app the double up only gives mono to both speakers. (use a stereo test tone to check , plenty on youtube) This is a real shame. On a macbook I usually always have to delete and pair up the first megaboom every time I want to use two in double up. Sometimes I will get the confirmation audio that both are doubled up , sometimes not , its pretty random. Also the second megaboom has some obvious noise interference on it even when its not playing anything. I really think UE should make an app available for windows and mac to allow for stereo. I wonder if there is something stopping them doing this with blutooth audio through osx and windows. This is a small negative on an otherwise good bit of kit.

You can do this with the UE Boom 2 synched to the Mega Boom as well. You just have to choose the Mega Boom as the first one and the Boom 2 as the 2nd. Finally you must push the synch button on the Boom 2 a total of 4 times. And the UE Booms sound pretty nice ain a vehicle as well.

I can't seem to get this to work. I have two UE BOOM speakers connected to my Windows Vista PC, which is Bluetooth capable. Only one of the speakers is working. Each time I try to double up the working speaker stops working and the other speakers starts working. I also have there two speakers connected and double up to my smartphone, so just in case they can't work with two devices at a time, I turned off Bluetooth on my phone. Just bought a pair of megaboom. Does the Double up feature work when using auxiliary input? i tried it, and each speaker takes turns (.5 seconds) on producing sound. (like choppy bluetooth connection). But, if i disconnect the auxillary and do it with a Bluetooth source, everything works fine. Any ideas, or can someone try this ? Got 2 ue boom2 now.but there is crackling when party up and when using aux in party mode there is no clean sound . I cant understand anything .sometimes the speakers beeps like in full volume .or after About an hour one speaker freeze.disconnect and no sound . I think my local store media markt sells refurbished units as new. I got only a paper roll package not the plastic roll. The usb cable was damaged and had usage signs.when in party mode , the 2nd speaker crackling and got static noise. With latest firmware

Unfortunately I can't pair my megaboom with the new megaboom 3, even though they're both up to date

This works, but only in the 'double up' mode - it seems impossible to let two Megabooms play stereo, without using the app. I'm thinking of buying a bluetooth turntable - without the stereo option available that would be a waste...

I just got my UE boom speakers and I had problem with parring up :(( after updating they pair up in 30 sec no problem ;] hopefully they will stay like that

Yes, you can Double Up 2 Ultimate Ears ROLL's Connect to the first ROLL 2 and turn on the second one. On the first ROLL 2, press both the Volume “+” and the Bluetooth connection button at the same time. You should hear a tone that confirms the speaker is ready to Double Up. On the second ROLL 2, press the Bluetooth button twice. You should hear a tone confirming that it is trying to Double Up then another when the connection is successful. Does this help you out @Christopher?

this didnt work for me, but after much playing the following did work 1. hold '+' and 'button' on primary speaker (button flashes) 2. hold '+' and 'button' on secondary speaker (button flashes) 3. press 'button' twice on secondary speaker......give it a few seconds very similar to vid but mine needed step 2 as well. Hope this helps
