You could even... NOT HAVE AN ALTER (If you don't want one) Or you could have a candle, a flower and a bowl of sea glass. Alters can be minimalist, maximalist, non existent, vertical, or literally your whole house if you want. (Or a spot in your yard or a rock garden, etc.

@ultravioletpisces36665 жыл бұрын
Try getting a cork board and making an "alter" on that by pinning items, pictures, feathers, etc.
@ultravioletpisces36665 жыл бұрын
A few more. Ask your mom to leave one area (your nightstand for example) alone because you like to arrange it. Second idea- an alter doesn't have to be cluttered or have a lot of stuff. Put your stones or other like items in a small bowl, or on a small plate, etc, use few items and keep it symmetrical (two matching candles, one on each side for example) so it looks purposeful and uncluttered. 3rd idea, get a piece of paper that fits under your items and draw a diagram showing that everything is where it should be. 4 put everything in a clear case or shadow box. 5. If you have some type of large, ornate box with a lid, arrange things inside the box and open when you want to see/use your alter. Close when you leave the room. You could also do this on a shelf, or use any type of desk with a drop side, or even am old fashion bread box- just remember to close it and it's "clean" If you have an ornate box that you can remove the bottom from, you can place the box over the entire arrangement, and again-- it's out of sight and doesn't look cluttery And again, your alter could be super minimalist. A colored cloth, a vase and flower, a dish for some crystals, and maybe some animal book ends with a couple journals or an alarm clock (old school but the point is that its something practical that doesn't look like clutter) that resembles something sacred to your diety. Use just 2- 3items and keep it very clean and clear looking. Your diety won't mind.

Have you tried talking to her? Tell her that it is your altar, or if you prefer you can call it your meditation space or your trinket shelf etc. My daughter has her designated shelf for all of her "treasures" and I never touch it. She knows it, I know it and she can keep whatever she wants there. Maybe your mother would be ok with an arrangement like that.

The Witch Of Wonderlust Wicca doesn’t have a set way for setting up an alter except that they have to contain a representation of the god and goddess. So candles, statues, whatever, on the correct side. If I remember correctly, the god should be on the right, and the goddess should be on the left.

Annie Lynx the very definition of Wiccanism revolves around the Rule of the Three and the balance of femininity and masculinity between the God and Goddess. While that can mean different things to different people, and yes, there are plenty of people who call themselves Wiccan and don’t believe in those things; that is the definition of the path.

I just wanna add some advice I literally just learned, if you are burning sigils to activate them, get a incense burner to set the burning paper on or a clay bowl or something. Stay away from glass. I just had an ash tray shatter because of the heat. Also the Sigil doesn’t need to be on a large piece of paper, in my opinion the smaller the better so it’s less mess. Don’t hold the burning paper above the candle because ash will fall into the candle and make it dirty. Please don’t burn yourself either❤️❤️

i really love these videos because a lot of the time i feel like everyone’s telling me that i need to learn and read a book but i can’t do that so having someone to actually explain things to me like a one on one helps so much. i really really really wanna get into witchcraft i just never knew where to start and this whole channel helped and finally made me feel like i was getting on a path instead of wanting and never doing

Using candles to ‘turn on’ your space, or activate it, is something I’ve never thought of…that’s a good idea!

Those tarot cards are beautiful. My altar is traditional. Always has been.

my altar is my desk, where i do schoolwork, watch the animals out the window, and do my makeup. which works perfectly for me, bc my practice mainly revolves around glamour magic, appreciation for nature, and doing things as a tribute to wisdom and learning (sometimes i attach a diety to this such as Athena, but sometimes its just the concept) 👍👍

I uses my Alter as a Gods connection line, and a safe space for my tools, and witchy books.

"all of my books" [laughs in hoarding crow brain] I've got entire book shelves of magick books... I think, MAYBE I'd be able to use the books I'm currently working with. MAYBE. I love this, though. Many good ideas. I like how there's nearly endless possibilities!

It blows my mind how accurately you just described me when I got more into my practice. I literally started with Wicca and had my alter set up accordingly, and I did more seasonal stuff with it, and then I studied astrology and the zodiac more and became more aligned with my sign (Cancer, which is a water sign) and I literally got seashells from when I was young and set them up on my alter and set it up with intention aimed towards going back to the ocean on a vacation or even maybe getting a beach house for getaways with my husband and our growing family 😁 I just find it almost scary how that so accurately described me when you talked about how alters can change all the time based on intention.

I have an altar in several rooms. One altar I change for the sabbats. Another is a collection of historical items. Another is in my art studio. Altars are very personal spaces that speak to who you are and what moves you. They are a reflection of the aspects of the craft that you work with. There’s no wrong or right way to set up an altar. Let the spirits guide you.

I actually do have my altar in my room.. for privacy reasons... And my work space as well... But I just set it up on break it down if I need too... Then set it back up & activate it.. I've dedicated those two areas in my room as ' sacred space'... Sort of speak... Even when my altar isn't active the space and table aren't usef for anything else.. I also have a travel altar I use when Im going to be away from home.. I took it with me when I went to Japan to see my daughter.. 😁 That was fun.. since I was going to be there during cleansing- after yule- it came in handy. Enjoyed the video🧙🏽♀️

Where i am living right now im not comfortable with having my altar look like an altar. So i put most of my tools, herbs and other materials in a couple cigar boxes and set them on the altar. The rest is in the cabinet below it. I just have a couple scented candles, a jar of rocks. A small metal tray with rocks in it i use for incense, a small bag of my crystals and a lap harp. Hopefully if anyone asks i can just say it's for decoration and i like scented candles. Maybe someday when im living on my own ill be able to have my altar the way i really want it. If you practice in secret like me don't get discouraged, there are ways to be discreet and still have this special space. Ever since setting up my altar i feel my magick is much stronger and focused so i understand the importance of an altar.

wow i needed this. Very new dabbling into witchcraft and I kept feeling like I was doing it 'wrong'. I have a whole room that acts as an altar, and I am very closed to what energies I allow there. When not in my spiritual space the blinds are drawn and door shut.

Your videos have helped me be much more comfortable with witchcraft. I have a ton of anxiety and so trying these things and getting actual results sometimes scares me, because it’s so unfamiliar. You make everything seem so friendly and cool. Thank you :)

I practice in secret. I madey alter out of a cardboard box. I set it up inside of the box, and whenever I need it I can just go open the box! It's simple and it's a good way to hide it!

Just found this video. It’s so helpful!! I always thought I “needed” an altar cloth, but I never really liked them. Also, the idea of a Beauty altar while I’m putting my makeup on and getting ready for the day is genius! Mornings are the worst for me, so I think this will really help. Thank you Olivia 🙌

Thank you for this video. It does hit on one of the most awesome things about the Craft, which is that Witches invent, as well as Craft. As women, especially, we conjure our own strength and support. Whatever makes you happy. Harm none, and do as thou will.

I am an eclectic witch and I go do magic based solely off of what things work for me or how this type of magic works for me but this doesn't, I work with multiple different types and use multiple different things based on how it works for me and this video really helped because everyone makes it seem like your altar has to be one way when really it's based on how it makes you feel and if it makes you comfortable, it's like a safe space.

When you said don't put your altar in the bedroom because of the adult things that go on in there made so much fucking sense as to why I sometimes feel watched when my husband and I are getting down. FML. But with 2 young children, one of whom already loves all rocks and crystals I need to be able to shut things away from them.
@TheWitchOfWonderlust5 жыл бұрын
Shae P you can also cover your altar with a cloth, I’m told that helps!

I keep coming back to your channel for witch videos after watching other people’s because you make me feel comfortable (and because most of the other channels I’ve seen are Wiccan and I’m not Wiccan) so you’ve been really helpful.

What I usually say to people is to completely trust your intuition with your altar. I had my first altar when I was 14 and it was mostly filled with random stuff I would find on the streets, anything from stones and wood shards in weird shapes, to marbles and glass finials. My parents honestly thought I was a junk hoarder 😂😂

Newbie here! This video is so refreshing and helpful, so thank you. As an urban witch with a small apartment, my “beauty altar” and witchy altar occupy the same space on my dresser. Changing over the space from one use to another feels like a ritual in itself.

I made a sort of alter for my ancestors in hopes that they could help guide me, and so far, I think they like their alter. I started with a dish of coins and tried fake and real flowers, when I changed them out for a candle, a few nice rocks I found, and some cute animal decorations. I feel my ancestors like their alter better now than before and I am so excited to work with them more and get to hopefully know them more individually. Thank you for your content :D

I LOVE the idea of a beauty altar! I basically already have been doing that without realizing it. I'm just the kind of person who needs permission before I do anything, which is difficult being a solitary witch 🤣

I took this tiny dresser/jewelry stand and made out the entire thing to be my witchy things/storage. The top opens to show my alter and the sides open to pull up more table space. It’s really nice.
