for poetry that feels pretty accessible & also moving even when you don’t exactly know what it’s about i would highly recommend mary oliver if you haven’t checked her work out yet!! her themes & outlook on things definitely seem like things you would appreciate too (slowing down, paying attention to even the smallest of things, etc.). also her essay collection “upstream” is my favorite book ever ❤

I find such solace in middle grade graphic novels, especially when I'm sad. I've also read Pilu of the Woods (grief and friendship) that I remember making me cry, and my Storygraph says I've read Princess Princess Ever After, but I don't remember as much about that one.

what a cozy vlog!! I was so excited to see your thoughts on all the graphic novels as I have recently, as inspired by you, gotten into reading graphic novels too! I read Pumpkinheads in October which was so sweet and then Nimona and Anya's Ghost. Also, I'm not sure if Belgium has Vinted but I manage to find lots of books second hand through there, for example, something like the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse. I might just be feeding your book buying but at least it is a more sustainable and eco-friendly way of doing it!!

hi ally, i hope your health comes around! im a bit of a poetry buff and want to share some of my favorites that i think u'd enjoy: 1) leaves of grass by walt whitman (1855 ed.). whitman's free verse is prose-like which helps with leisure reading. 2) blue horses by mary oliver -- i think mary oliver would be so up your ally! her poetry celebrates nature and the simplicity of life. blue horses is a later collection, when her poems become shorter and her style more open and free. 3) upstream by mary oliver ... technically a collection of essays, not poems, i recommend this book because it'll saturate you in mary oliver's beautiful writing and themes. be well!

I love poetry personally and thought I'd share some of my favourites that helped get me into the form! :) - Soup is one form of salt water - Heather Christle (personal favourite, although probably the least accessible of this list) - The Orange - Wendy Cope - Post Roast - Mark Strand - Perhaps the world ends here - Joy Harjo - Dinosaurs smelled magnolias - Dalton Day - Wild Geese or Swan - Mary Oliver (or any Mary Oliver, she's such a lovely poet and I love her outlook on life and nature. I have so many more of her poems I could recommend!) - Private Parts - Sarah Kay - How to Triumph Like A Girl - Ada Limon
