We're told that the "ancient evil" the shrines of light imprison and purify… were monsters which once besieged and roamed the land. Rauru and Sonia combined their powers and travelled around to "pacify" these monsters, erecting a shrine at the site where a monster was defeated as a means to purify their "evil." So, yes, evil existed before Ganondorf became the Demon King. But gloom is his power; and being pure evil, pure darkness, it can create and summon monsters. I wager all of the gloom residue in the land was from him, and with his defeat, it vanished. But that doesn't mean that evil as a whole ceases to exist thereafter.

Perhaps my statement was a bit rash, but the criticism of all his evil being gone within minutes of defeat still stands. And we still have to question if the Chasm disappeared, or merely the gloom spewing from them. Yes, clearly there were monsters... of some type... that Rauru and Sonia sealed, and that the Shrines of Light are preventing their resurrection. It really does seem like the Blood Moon predates these events, the Shrines of Light stopped this process, and that Ganondorf gaining a secret stone shifted the balance of power so the Blood Moon could return. I wish this was more clearly stated in the game. As for the monsters that were sealed by Rauru and Sonia, I would like to do a video on that as I have some interesting ideas. I've previously made the claim that Rauru sealed the eyes of a Bargainer in his Shrines on the Great Plateau, but there is more to consider beyond that one region.

I saw the dome under the throne room and just thought, "I swear I've seen that out of bounds somewhere else in this game before", and after thinking about it, I remembered what it was. It is actually found in the depths under almost all of the coliseums, I think it is actually to mark the location of objects that have yet to be placed. It is probably in the castle for the same reason as the dungeon was at one point in a separate map.

Great vid. On of the burning questions I had when it was revealed that TOTK would be reusing the BOTW map is how they were going to explain areas of the map that were specifically made around the Sheikah shrines (I.e., the large target on the side of the canyon to active the sheikah shrine in BOTW). When I got to the goddess statute fountains I immediately looked for those rooms we entered in BOTW and thought it was funny they were now covered up rocks.

Another one that bugs me, but I haven't talked about, is the shone quest with shooting an arrow toward Rito Village at a specific time of day. This, along with any that involves the sun's position, seems really odd considering the sun's path in the sky is Literally Different in TotK. Many assume seasonal change, fair. That however calls into question mechanisms of the sheikah devices made 10,000 years earlier, specific the ones based entirely on that precise sun location.

The fact that not only the shrines, but the geological formations surrounding them are also gone is so strange - rocks coded into the sheikah tech? Does that mean they placed say that rock for the zora champion themselves or did they find it and somehow connect every particle to the shrine's existence.
@PixelFusionProductions10 ай бұрын
My thoughts are that the Shrines themselves are warping reality in some way. There was never a true hole and door in those stone walls, but one was forced on it by the power of the shrine itself. When the shrine ran out of power and disappeared, the whole thing reverted. This has the added bonus of nicely explaining why the Cave of Resurrection and the dungeon under it reverted back to a normal cave... complete with stalactites.

In the earlier games... i.e. A Link to the Past... Ganon is responsible for all the monsters. I hardly think Ganontwerp being responsible for all the gloom is "childish"
@PixelFusionProductions10 ай бұрын
I don't think monsters in the Light World were the fault of Ganon. The dark world being a warped version of the Sacred Realm and then being reverse upon Link using the Triforce is a lot more justified than what we see here. I call it childish because the game already had us guessing at Ganondof's motive, with his actions being fairly one dimensional. All of his bad effects disappearing within minutes after his death is pushing too far for me.

great video as always! thank you I think that there is something very interesting implied about the monsters since BotW, something about their nature. Not only Kilton but other Hylian NPCs say that monsters (mainly Bokoblins?) are life forms to be respected as such, comparing them to any other animals and Hylians. It sounds like, in other regions or times (!) they were a people, a civilization of sorts. I believe all instances of Hyrule Kingdom, including the Zonai Refounding of Hyrule Kingdom, were created over the Bokoblin people territory. Maybe Demise and thusfar Ganondorf have actual and rightful reasons to destroy this higienizing Kingdom. Maybe the monsters' souls are stuck in the Depths, underwhelm, and Darkness can bring them back.

It does seem that these monsters resurrection is linked to forces of darkness, but that doesn't necessarily mean they should be treated as... I guess, Sub-human. A case could absolutely be made that what Rauru and Sonia are imposing on the land, the Wild you might say, with their Shrines of Light is disrupting the natural order.

It's always bothered me that all Gloom seems to dissappear ones Ganondorf is defeated. There was light shrines prior to The Demon King Form. Where is that evil source? The whole point of the light shrines was to dispel the evil in those regions. That would have made great DLC. A post Ganondorf exploration of Hyrule hunting the other sources of Evil.

It reminds me of Super Sentai (Japanese Power Rangers). When the monster is destroyed, all their effects go away. It's too clean, to simple, childish.

Not sure why gloom disappearing somehow makes Ganondorf the root of all evil. There wasn’t gloom in BotW. The Yiga have nothing to do with gloom. I think gloom is just a nasty miasma G creates-a toxic sludge or something. He can probably create all kinds of things with it. Maybe monsters existed prior to him, but they were more wild than evil. Dangerous, but not preternatural. Just saying that if you want a more ‘realistic’ interpretation, then you could assume it was a normal world with normal evil before him and he’s just a special kind of evil. Removing him doesn’t remove normal evil from the world. I enjoy the vids either way 😅.

I've proposed before that Gloom and Malice are the same, and come from the same source. What makes them different, in form and function, is the purpose behind its use. Malice was formed when used to attack, and Gloom was formed when used to absorb energy, transferring it to recover Ganondorf. In short, though, I agree.
@PixelFusionProductions10 ай бұрын
There could have been gloom in the depths, we don't know. Malice appears to be similar to Gloom as well, but perhaps less focused. It is the bi-product of Ganon's imprisonment, and seems to be a build up of his residual hate and other negative emotions. The issue with the Gloom all going away is that it implies it all came from. It's too simplistic, to easy, the dragon explodes and minutes later it is all gone.
@Enjoyer.76210 ай бұрын
@PixelFusionProductions How was malice "less focused" when it was used to target the Guardians and Devine Beasts, take control of them, the Blights killed the Champions, and turned Sheikah technology against Hyrule during the second Calamity?

@PixelFusionProductions10 ай бұрын
@@Enjoyer.762 It was less focused because it was the general resentment of Ganondorf's when he was effectively sleeping. When he awoke, it was far more prevalent, focused, and deadly. During the Calamity, Ganondorf wasn't awake. TotK makes it very clear that his conscious mind was not at work while he was sealed. It would seem that the Calamity, which exuded from him over the time he was sealed, operated on a more base instinct. It overpowered machines, and it tried to create a new body... but it was acting more off instinct. At least that is my interpretation, for the Calamity didn't even seem capable of speaking, now did it?

the missing sheika tech look like it never existed like the area around it was shifted to a previous state of time this is most visible in the akkala fortress don't remember how to spell it as for the dark power disappearing ganon as the demon king was the source of it however it may not be as simple as that its purified from the defeat of ganon it could have been redirected breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom keep dropping hints that ganon isn't the only threat actively attacking the kingdom in breath of the wild when the calamity struck all the pieces just fell into place for calamity ganon to almost win with no setbacks what are the chances of that and then when ganon was rising the sheika tech is now gone this screams sabotage now imagine the fallout of ganons defeat corrupted dragon parts scattered every where and the dark power released on death taken by another foe to use

I have some theories about just how the Sheikah Tech functioned and disappeared. However, it is unfortunately me having to make sense of something that is clearly poorly conceived. There really isn't a good justification for it outside of the developers simply not wanting it in the game this time around. If I'm being honest, there isn't deep lore here. Merely bad writing.
