Hi from the UK here. I have a 1st Edition ID.3 and it is currently "in the shop" being upgraded from v2.4 to version 3.1. I am assuming that the process and changes will be similar so I am watching this with interest. Thanks for doing this video. It's very informative.

Thank you for this video. I’ve took my ID4 in for the recall back in April of this year. But because the car was supposed to be part of the software update group but no update was made, I’m stuck in the stage of for interstate battery to deliver the 12V battery to be delivered. Up till right now in July, I’ve still have yet to hear from my dealer that the 12V battery is here and come in for the appt. I’ve asked them every week to see if it’s there, and they always say no. My other two VW dealers they either don’t have training for it or they have no tools for it. I don’t mind the recall, but this 12V battery not coming in is getting irritated.

Thank you so much for this video. I have a 2021 ID.4 Pro S and I am still waiting for the software update. I expect my dealer to do it by the end of the summer. They also have two techs working on electric cars and are doing software updates to about one car per week.

Hi, i have a question for you, in the mountains in Austria this summer, i head some hard bangs coming from the floor / battery of our Id4. It looks like it happens, these bangs, when we were climbing and using full power kw of the battery, so it might have been a bit hot, due to full throttle and then going full regen on the way down of like 20% slopes. First we thought it were rocks that hit the bottom plate of the Id4, but when it happened a few times more and regularly, it felt like it was right below our feet. So a bang and nothing happened, we could drive on, no lights came on on the dash. So i wonder, is it due to shrink and expanding of the top layer of the battery or something? Would love to hear your thoughts, and if any other Id drives have had this. Id4 drives fine still, it was only then at that moment and sometimes when i floor it, you know what i mean, has to do something with the heat the battery generates right?

In the middle of my 21 pro s software update, it failed. Service advisor said it was the carnet module and it would have to be replaced. No ETA on this module, so I sit with a brick driving a Tiguan loaner. I should have kept the original software.

Only cars that have the old software...It is updating motor and battery modules as well.

Hi the 3.1 broke my hands free life gate functions. Do know of a fix you can recommend? My dealership doesn’t know how to fix it.

You said the gauge shows battery energy left in kWh. I didn't see that in your video. Where is that shown?

I'm supposed to bring my 2021 ID.4 to the dealer this week to get the 12V battery replacement, software updates, and other recalls done. Should I be worried about things maybe going wrong? I don't understand why VW isn't required to provide loaners to people in this situation. The ID.4 is the only car I have. I bought the car thinking I would have reliable transportation with free ""fuel fill-ups" (charging). So, why should the customer have to provide their own replacement transportation that might require buying fuel while the ID.4 is being serviced for something the customer didn't do? I do like the ID.4 a lot. I just think that VW isn't holding up their end of the deal.

Except on our 2021 ID4. We took our car to the dealer and started the recall and software update. The software update wasn't compatible with our radar sensor so, we had to wait for our dealer to order the updated replacement. Car sat bricked at the dealer for three weeks. Really shitty experience. I resisted the software update (don't fix that isn't broken) but didn't want to neglect the recall. Lesson learned.

HI really like the video I wanted to know if you have any news on the 2024 models ID4's if they are going to have the new more power full motor from the ID7 and maybe have LFP battery pack or these upgrades will be only on 2025 models hi I'm still waiting on a reply thanks .

I've been really enjoying the "Auto Hold" feature with the software update. That being said, why is there an Auto Hold setting in Reverse? Our situation may be unique but, we have a moderate incline on our driveway and when backing out of the garage we like to stop before crossing the sidewalk just to check for anybody walking by that the VW doesn't see and double-check. Well, now if you've pressed the brake pedal enough Auto Hold is engaged and we're still on an incline. Goosing the throttle just enough to release Auto Hold and then stabbing the brakes again to get some control as you roll into the street isn't a fun game first thing in the morning heading to work. I've learned ways to counteract it but the missus hasn't had this experience yet and I'm sure I'm gonna get an earful the first time this happens to her. Odd software setup for Auto Hold.

Pretty sure this is software 3.1.0, not 3.01. Good video though, very informative! Have an ID.4 with the newer software and love it! Any ideas about OTA updates that don’t require the dealer?

My understanding is VW has pretty much terminated the entire software development team. If that’s true, they should’ve done a long time ago. VW hired a company to turn large updates into small packets. I have seen no such animal. Even Tiguans get over the air updates. The cars are built to have such updates performed Like everyone else, I think it’s taking too long.

Ford is making the move. It sounds like 24 cars will have two ports. One for Tesla, and the other for CCS.

@@electricprincipal543 The SW update was done and found a "bad cell". That took days. Then waiting for the part. Then the tech got sick. Not entirely the dealer's fault. Not stomping on them, but meanwhile the new Tesla we bought has had 4 SW updates while sitting in the driveway. It's not clear to me if the 3.1 update for VW even brings OTA ability? Lots of faith lost in VW. They -- and all the legacy makers -- should be able to do better.
