I had never thought about how a colorwork yoke is extra thick, so therefore extra warm! The people in the past who came up with this stuff are geniuses!

I also knit English style, and I don't have any burning desire to change that. I knit as fast as most continental knitters I have seen. I feel like I have better control over my tension and also I like to knit lace and cables and speed is not the point! I do knit 2 handed colorwork though, mostly just because it helps me keep from getting things tangled. Lovely sweaters!

Can confirm: step by step was the first thing I've ever knit, ever! (Though am a crocheter) I found it very straightforward, including the optional folded collar and German short rows. I finished it in 1-2 weeks. I've used that knowledge of making a folded collar on other sweaters since :)

I'm sitting here listening and doing the step by step sweater from you now ;D this is my first ever knitted thing and I love it and colors I choosed, I'm so grateful for your tutorial, you are incredible teacher! only thing I'm regreting is not doing the german short rows but I think it was to much for me that time, as everything is new. Now I'm doing the sleeve and after knitting for some time with the body I gained confidence that I could do it, but oh well, Probably will make another sweater with you so then I will make them. Thank you dear💝❤❤❤❤

Agree re: MFTK. I think the claim that there is not enough test-knitters in larger sizes out there is always more indicative of a lack of effort in engaging the community.. especially given how large MFTK following is. It is often an excuse in larger brands as to why they don't cater to plus sizes rather than them doing the work to ensure size inclusivity.
@handmadebyflorence2 жыл бұрын
yes I agree!! i’m not sure she’s ever actually *made* that claim but it’s just not valid for a following of that size, especially since there’s yarn support and stuff which makes it an especially appealing test. I do understand for smaller followings it’s difficult though; I had upwards of 300 applications to test my recent cardigan pattern with no applications for the largest size.

I've recently purchased knitting for olive dusty artichoke online and I am a bit dissapointed - I thought it would be less dusty. I was thinking about using drops kids silk in lighter green to make the colour seems more vivid, but was a bit afraid. Now I am convinced to try 😉. I'm on second step of your v-neck route -also thought it was so boxy and shapeless at first, and now I am considering making small size because I have fell in love with this type of neckline.

From my experience using mohair helps that the other yarn doesn't pill so much. The fluff of mohair somehow protects the other fibre. But I don't like to use mohair in everything, although so many patterns have it nowadays. I have made a Drops Nepal sweater without mohair and it pills so much that I won't use it again. Unfortunately it is my husband's sweater and he won't let me unpill it. 😂
@handmadebyflorence2 жыл бұрын
yes it definitely does contribute to the yarn holding up! but I find that if I don’t use mohair I can at least easily maintain the jumper, whereas once mohair jumpers do start to look worse for wear it’s a lot of trouble to clean them up so it’s always a trade off i’ve used nepal alone too and not found it too bad, but maybe that’s because I have a habit of quite regularly depilling my jumpers since it’s fun to me

It’s really different! The Drops is shiny, stretchy superwash yarn in bright colours, whereas the KFO is matte and non-superwash, not stretchy, and muted. The finished look is really different.

I do not like it when continental knitting snobs, suggest for English knitters to switch styles. Im an English knitter, but can knit continental. I prefer English. I have arthritis in my left hand. So its uncomfortable for me to knit continental for very long. Said all that to say... who cares...just enjoy your craft and endorse your knits and knitting style. Your sweaters are beautiful!

I'm with you! I love to knit for relaxation, and as a hobby, so it annoys me when people tell knitters to knit faster by hanging to knitting continental! I dont want to rush through my projects as I love the knitting process at the steady rate that I knit them! I am not in a race to finish them!
@omao493811 ай бұрын
@@TracyKNixon I actually loved when I took their advice and switched to continential. I have limited time but I wanted to enjoy knitting even in a tight schedule, so knitting faster was a life saver. I actually sometimes enjoy going slow, and you know? You can go slow when doing continential too. So I don't see the issue.
