Hey brother. Had an opportunity to take my neighbor and his boys scalloping today in Homosassa area. Successful however on the way back stopped and speared a large flounder. Brother of the hook most of the time but today brother of the spear gun!

Another great day, Lane. You and John were working hard in that heat. I've got to where I go out before sunrise and and on my way back by 10am these days. That nurse shark looked right out of the movies with all those bait fish looking for a handout. Beautiful shot

When it’s hot like that I always drink at least one Gatorade and the rest water. Pedialyte is also good for staying hydrated. Pretty much water and any healthy beverage that has electrolytes. If I just drink straight water I start to feel drained.

Hi Eric, This was about the 3rd time in the last 10 years I have felt faint from the heat. I was in the direct sun for about 2 hours AFTER the breeze died. I have ice cold water to drink AND I have one of those water cooling towels around my neck which warmed up quickly. My shirt was completely soaked and with no breeze.. I just got hotter. I even moved up and sat next to John front a couple times just to get out of the direct sun but I could tell I needed moving air to cool me down...I am actually only about 90% back to normal as I had internal cramps most of the night and this morning. Tomorrow, I am going to Home Depot and buy one of those Ryobi portable battery fans AND I have ordered a special clamp on umbrella that tilts and attaches to the seat... I hate having to leave when the fish are biting.. especially Triggers.

When is it Snapper season in Fl? God Bless y’all !

We had a whopping 3 days in July on the East coast.. it was a DANGEROUS madhouse at all the ramps for those 3 days. The Gulf side got about a month as I recall. We should have at least a month on the East coast just to thin the Red Snapper hordes out..
@NcScbeach14 жыл бұрын
SaltyKayak , I totally agree! It seems like the Red Snapper population has picked up.

Hey Salty did you get your engine problem taken care of. And if so what was the culprit thanks JT 🇺🇸🇺🇸🐟🐠🎣🛥🌴⛱😊😊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@SaltyKayak4 жыл бұрын
Glad you asked Hooked... The primary problem(s) were scale clogged ports inside the engine AND I had a terminal inside the 10 pin internal plug completely eaten away by water. That was due to me thinking the plug was waterproof and I would occasionally spray inside the engine to get the salt haze off. Well that plug was not waterproof and water got inside and over the months, ate one of the terminals (tach) completely gone. I fixed that with a bypass. Also, I changed the water/fuel separator and the internal filter (not the VST) and changed the fuel injectors, water pump, lower unit oil, engine oil, new spark plugs and most importantly, gave the engine a Rydlyme chemical flush. Lots of scale came out. Motor ran great in the driveway. Took it off shore a couple times and have a new problem. When I slow down close to idle, the motor will stall and shut off. When I turn the key.. starts right back up and I can idle to my fishing spot. If I start and stop a few times and just idle to a new spot.. no problems. But when I run it at 4000 to 4500 all the way back in.. then slow to maybe 1500 to 2000 RPM to get back to the ramp... and once at the ramp I put her in idle.. she shuts off.. but starts right back up and I can trailer the boat. This is a gremlin and I have a question out to a Yamaha forum and waiting for some 'expert' to tell me my next step.
@hookednrolling20094 жыл бұрын
SaltyKayak maybe the vst needs to be rebuilt you have done everything else there is fuel filter in there too JT

@@hookednrolling2009 That's a pretty big project to tackle.. I will see what the Yamaha forum pros have to say before I start that....

Can you catch shark and keep them of certain size.
@SaltyKayak4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sharon.. yes you can but most of the sharks look pretty much the same to me and I am not up on knowing the keepers from the protected. Plus, the keepers have to be a certain size.. and it is my PERSONAL belief that.. why eat shark when you can eat snapper or trigger or vermilion or Black Sea Bass or flounder or best yet ...Trippletail. I don't know if you are aware.. but sharks 'pee' thru their skin and that means their urine comes thru their flesh. And to get rid of the urine in the meat, you need to soak the meat overnight.. I think in milk.. just more work than I want to deal with... and I would need to be pretty hungry to eat shark just knowing that...
