Omg after 1000 tutorials and attempts of trying doing the right foam I finally managed it after the first try with this video. I really can't believe it. One tip if your milk gets hot too fast: hold your cup and Steamer like shown in the video and then start by touching the milks surface with only the tip of your Steamer while it's already on. Do that while the milk gets hotter and only in the end put in the tip a little more to get that soft, shiny foam. The texture you get with this technique is insane!

@@SevenMilesCoffeeRoasters Question! Should you warm the milk before steaming it? I have been trying to get the milk warm enough to not leave the coffee luke warm and not hot enough at the end. However, this means I have to steam it too long and the texture gets a bit too thick for proper latte art. Do baristas have a constant supply of pre-warmed milk on hand or do they just use the milk straight from the fridge?

This is magic! It took me four weeks of daily practice with my first ever coffee machine, tons of videos about frothing watched. That all got me nowhere and left me so disappointed. I had almost no foam in my milk, it would only get hot from my steamer. All until I came across this tutorial! Every single milk I froth ever since is perfect! Who would've thought that the key to success is the SOUND of the milk. That hissing sound! Not the airplane one (that I definitely had at the start of my practice with the steamer 😅). Thank you so very much for this tutorial! 💛

Thanks for this video! Lots of great hints and tips in 5 minutes. I like the use of clear quality gates to move onto the next step (i.e. ~ 20% foamed, sound of the milk). I have an air emulsion tube over the wand with a hole on the top where it fits onto the handle an a hole at the bottom of the tube next to the nozzle. The steam actually draws air from the upstream hole downward into the milk by gravity

@atrain1324 жыл бұрын
I've been doing this a long time with a great espresso machine. During the whirlpool, or vortex stage, a little foam starts to develop on one side. The result is at the end when I shut off the steam wand; cappuccino style faom immediately develops on the surface. Even after the tapping swirl, it's still there. So the results are not silky smooth.
@SevenMilesCoffeeRoasters4 жыл бұрын
The problem could be caused by a number or things: some varieties (and even seasons) of cow's milk contain a balance of protein & enzymes that prevent it from forming a stable foam. Also, if the tip of the steamer is partially blocked, I have noticed this makes it significantly more difficult to get a smooth texture.
@joeyzhou82734 жыл бұрын
Great stuff. I’ve tried like 80 times before watching this video but never got any good milk texture. Now i think maybe it’s because I’m only using 2% milk
@SevenMilesCoffeeRoasters4 жыл бұрын
It's certainly possible with 2%, but I find the process is more forgiving with the extra fat.
