If you pre-emptively destroy everything in their path in the sub-sequent bonus objective (I think it's unmarked IIRC) you can even save them and bring them back to base. Otherwise they just rush off and die, super annoying.

That always drove me nuts about the Eldar. Destroying the stone WOULD have banished the daemon, if they had reached it sooner, before such a large amount of people and xenos had died on the planet. SO IF THE ELDAR HAD DONE *LITERALLY NOTHING* EVERYTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE. The entire species is Aqua from Konosuba; useless.

I came into this game when I was 13, my dads friend ripped it for me (Along with world in conflict, what a top lad). You cant believe how confused I was at not only the grim-dark, but also the weird sci-fi shit, since I was only exposed to star wars and star trek lol. This was during the golden age of 4th edition and it was long until I was hooked beyond belief. Winter assault will forever be my favourite, but I have good memories of being an unsupervised teenager, chugging pepsi max while laying my genetically modified roid hogs into orks.
