It is worker’s market for the first time in my lifetime. Workers leave for better jobs with higher pay better schedules and to avoid being forced to do 3 people’s jobs for one person’s pay. Some businesses have survived by paying very low wages and that does not attract new workers. I should know. I found a much better job than the restaurant I worked at.
@lalaluna4060 Жыл бұрын
somewhat true. however, it's actually the employers market rather than employees market! why? it's because employers what RELIABLE, SMART, and HARD WORKING PEOPLE! meaning that the businesses/employers are getting REALLY PICKY! If I was the owner--I'd want great people working for me and that would justify the PAY as well! If what you're saying is true about people going out looking for "BETTER PAY" then why is there more and more job openings with higher offer?

I'm tired of taxes, why are the people being bullied into paying taxes if the people are not being listened to and helped. We the people need to grow a backbone and stand up to this bs. People work too hard for 40%-50% to be taken away in taxes especially when that money isn't helping the hard working people of Hawaii that help to pay such high taxes.

@justinwiseman8965 Жыл бұрын
Rent is way too ridiculous, a used to be able to live in a 1 bedroom in Waikiki now that is too expensive for me. I used to pay $1200 for a 1 bedroom with damn decent view, now 1 bedroom are going for $2000-$2200. Matter of fact most 1 bedrooms are just as expensive as 2 bedrooms that you might as well take the 2 bedroom and live with a roommate so it will be cheaper. I'm still tryna figure out how a 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom are renting for similar high prices. Rent prices are just not making sense and feels like a total rip off.

The cost of living in hawaii is extremely high. Competition for workers is now based almost entirely on how much you can pay them. I honestly believe that little village noodle house is one of the best restaurants on the island and if they raised their prices people would gladly pay. Seriously try the mochi noodle. We definitely need to bring down the cost of living here but we also need to recognize that the old minimum wage will never be close to enough even for a starting wage anymore.
@justinwiseman8965 Жыл бұрын
It really is ridiculous prices for housing and rent prices. I dont see how normal everyday people are able to afford a 1 bed or even a studio. Before people were working paycheck to paycheck now people are working just to become homeless. Rental prices need to come down and the bubble needs to pop soon rather than later. When you hear of these businesses closing these are the people of Hawaii suffering all the while Hawaii has all this money to build new establishments like a new stadium nobody needs and a rail that doesn't even go to ala moana & Waikiki for tourists and locals that would find the rail useful. More money should be going to building affordable living and for more financial assistance for households and businesses. Hawaii needs to start helping/supporting the locals that love and live here rather than selling out to outsiders with money, too many foreigners are owning the houses that should be owned by locals that acually live on this small island. What is Hawaii gonna do if it pushes out all the people that live here. Who is gonna work at the places if no one can afford to live here in Hawaii. It's all getting ridiculous.
