That pain is frightening. I think it is wired into the brain to produce fear in addition to pain. Our bodies seem to recognize anything causing pain to the spine as a profound threat, so a sensation of fear is added to pain.

I can sympathise with this mans pain. I have spondylosis thesis and have a constant very annoying and uncomfortable electrical sensation down my left leg and into my foot. My back is very unstable and goes fairly regularly. Anyone with back issues knows that instant jolt that happens which takes your breath away. You then know the muscle spasms are coming and I effectively seize up in agony. At times I can’t even dress myself and have to slide off the bed onto ground. Well done for helping this man. 👍🏻

I can empathize with the pain this guy is experiencing. My back seized up so bad one time I couldn't even take a step without screaming in pain. I had to drive myself to the chiropractor and wait for him to finish with another patient before he could work on me. I never really knew what it meant to "writhe" in pain before that day. I was writhing in pain on the table before he came in to work on my back. I couldn't find a position that wasn't absolutely excruciating. Doc fixed me up enough so I could stand up straight, but I still had to go back a few more times to get back to normal.

I even fainted after a while but not due to pain. but since my father was sick I kept working my routine. pbly that helped me recover soon. it takes 3 days for me to get my normal faculties back. i do get nagging pain in my lower back but the same level of incapacitation hasn't occurred for 2 years now. thank God.

Mentally, I think it helps to realize that your back muscles are under involuntary control. When your back goes out (as a spasm), it gets locked in the new position because your brain is compensating and thinks that your new posture is safest. The position sense in the spine takes about 15 minutes to reset your brain's sense of where your body is, if you can get into the correct posture through manipulation. I use a Thumper on my back to relax the sore spots when I feel a tightening going on. This cannot be hurried, as I said, it takes 15 minutes to achieve relaxation. Using a tennis ball also works, between the sore spot and the floor (or wall) and gently rolling the ball around, increasing the pressure as seems suitable. It hurts until the relaxation takes effect. I am not a chiro, and haven't seen one for years, but I do my own preventative maintenance as soon as I feel discomfort. Probably getting wheat flour out of the diet is also important, as this product leads to joint inflammation which is more or less continuous, the older you get, and the more bread you eat.

Normally you get this sort of problem when your already dressed and up and around, and then you do a stupid movement and wham, your stuck in the position you where it happened. That's why we all arive at the doctor's hunched over.

When my lower gets like this from my desk job I have to work my hamstrings. When they tighten up they pull on the lower back. I'd also lose the skinny jeans as those are working against you as well. Good Luck Roberto and hope you get relief and you are in great hands with Dr Benedetti

Sarebbe interessante sapere l'età del paziente, cosa ha causato il dolore, se un movimento sbagliato un carico eccessivo una condizione preesistente. Perché non sembra ne fuori forma e neanche tanto avanti con gli anni.

My dad used to get just like this. He'd work and work and work without taking care of himself. Then his back would go out and we could barely get him to the chiropractor ourselves!
